An Epic Showdown Between Ajay Devgn And Riteish Deshmukh

New Delhi:

The trailer of Ajay Devgn’s Raid 2 is out today. Sequel to the 2018 film, the trailer amalgamates nostalgia along with a new battle of power. The trailer opens with Ajay Devgn banging on the door of a powerful politician Riteish Deshmukh (Dadabhai) for his 75th raid.

Amay Patnaik (Ajay Devgn’s character) is back and he won’t sleep in peace until he excavates the black stashes at Dadabhai’s place. But it won’t be an easy investigation as Riteish Deshmukh won’t surrender until he plays all his cards.

The bottom line of the trailer is summed up in one dialogue – Riteish Deshmukh asks Ajay Devgn, “Pandava kab se Chakravyuh rach ne laga?” “Kaun kaha mein Pandava hoon, mein toh pura Mahabharat hoon,” comes Ajay Devgn’s reply.

The trailer is replete with nostalgic elements as Saurabh Shukla (he was the villain in Raid) has a few cameo appearances, reminding the audience of Amay Patnaik’s indomitable spirit. Vaani Kapoor plays Ajay Devgn’s wife in the film.

Sharing the trailer, Ajay Devgn wrote, “Ek taraf satta, dusri taraf sach – Yeh RAID ab aur badi ho chuki hai.” Take a look:

Raid 2 is the sequel to Ajay Devgn’s 2018 hit Raid. The first instalment was inspired by a real-life Income Tax raid from the 1980s and received widespread acclaim.

Alongside Ajay Devgn, the film also featured Saurabh Shukla and Ileana D’Cruz in key roles.

Coming back to Raid 2, the film will be released on May 1, 2025 in theatres.

Revisiting 7 Blockbusters That Came Before Pushpa 2

New Delhi:

It goes without saying that Allu Arjun is one of the biggest stars in Indian cinema. He wowed the entire country with his 2021 hit Pushpa: The Rise. And with Pushpa 2: The Rule becoming the biggest Indian grosser, the actor ruled the box office like a true king.

But before Allu Arjun became a pan-India superstar, he was already dominating Telugu cinema. As the star turns 43 today, let’s take a look at 7 of his biggest films before Pushpa:

1. Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo
Allu Arjun plays Bantu, a young man who grows up facing constant criticism from his father — only to discover later that he was switched at birth with a millionaire’s son. Directed by Trivikram Srinivas, this film became a massive hit. Pooja Hegde stars opposite Allu, and their chemistry? Total fire!

2. Sarrainodu
Loosely inspired by the 2004 Hollywood flick Walking Tall, Sarrainodu is one of Telugu cinema’s action-packed gems. Allu Arjun brings serious swag to the role, joined by Aadhi Pinisetty, Srikanth and Rakul Preet Singh.

3. Race Gurram
This action-comedy, directed by Surender Reddy, is a total crowd-pleaser. It follows the story of two brothers — Ram (Shaam), a by-the-book cop, and Lakshman aka Lucky (Allu Arjun), the fun-loving rebel. Their love-hate dynamic and Allu Arjun’s comic timing made this one a blockbuster.

4. Julayi
The film revolves around a man named Ravi, played by Allu Arjun. He races to make some quick cash, which brings him into contact with anti-social elements and sparks off events that will change his life forever. Julayi also featured Sonu Sood in a key role.

5. Badrinath
Directed by V. V. Vinayak, the film is headlined by Allu Arjun and Tamannaah. Allu Arjun portrays Badri, a warrior and the protector of the Badrinath temple. He finds himself in troubled waters after he meets an agnostic woman and attempts to revive her faith in God.

6. Desamuduru
Allu Arjun delivers a power-packed performance in Desamuduru. He plays Bala, a courageous journalist who is on a dangerous mission to expose a corrupt politician.

7. Arya
Allu Arjun gave a memorable performance of his career in Sukumar’s Arya. The film revolves around the titular character, who falls in love with a woman and tries to woo her through his charm.

Sikandar, starring Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna, is continuing to struggle at the box office. Directed by A R Murugadoss and produced by Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and Salman Khan Films, the Hindi action drama hit the screens on March 30, 2025.

The film earned ₹1.75 crore on Monday (April 07, 2025) in India, taking its total domestic collection to ₹104.25 crore, reported tracking portal Sacnilk. The worldwide collection of the Eid release stood at ₹168 crore by the end of ninth day.

Sikandar, which opened to negative reviews, has struggled at the box office from Day 1. It collected 26 crore on the opening day, followed by 29 and 19.5 crore on the next two days domestically. The movie, which also stars Kajal Aggarwal, Satyaraj, Sharman Joshi and Anijini Dhawan, is unlikely to cross the ₹150-crore mark in India. According to the makers, the movie crossed the ₹180-crore mark globally in eight days.

Sikandar revolves a Gujarat royal (essayed by Salman Khan) whose heart beats for the common man. A personal loss pushes him to take on the corrupt system.

The Hindu review of Sikandar said, “Salman’s stiff presence and stilted dialogue delivery add to the woes. The action choreography has little novelty. In the absence of effective camerawork, it seems people queue up to be beaten by a star whose intent is intact but agility waning.

“Saddled with stock dialogues, Rashmika adds one more film to her filmography where her job is to boost the star’s ego. Sharman Joshi and Kajal Agarwal have little to do to justify their presence. Sathyaraj keeps gritting his teeth as if he knows what could have been done with this material.” Pritam has composed the music for the film while Santosh Narayanan has done the background score.
