Enter the Maharaja: Shah Rukh Khan turns Met Gala into his royal court

Enter the Maharaja: Shah Rukh Khan turns Met Gala into his royal court
Shah Rukh Khan made a dazzling Met Gala debut in a Sabyasachi ensemble, embodying modern maharaja style and sparking a frenzy. The 2025 Met Gala, themed “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” celebrates Black menswear and cultural richness. With a star-studded guest list and SRK leading the charge, the event promises to redefine global fashion.

He’s ruled the silver screen. He’s ruled our hearts. And now, Shah Rukh Khan has officially taken his rightful place on fashion’s most prestigious stage – the Met Gala. Making his grand debut this year, the Badshah of Bollywood turned the NYC streets into his personal red carpet as he stepped out in a black-on-black Sabyasachi creation that whispered royalty and roared rebellion.
Wearing a tailored black suit with Bengal royalty in its bones, SRK served cinematic charisma, accessorised with a heavy dose of swagger, think layered gold chains and that statement neckpiece featuring the letter ‘K’. A nod to Khan, King, and everything in between. The moment he stepped out of his hotel, the NYC air changed. Fans screamed. Paparazzi froze. It wasn’t just a fashion moment, it was history in motion.
Earlier in the day, designer Sabyasachi had fuelled the fire, teasing Khan’s look with a cryptic Insta story: “Khan Khan Bengal Tiger.” And when the tiger finally emerged? The internet gasped.

Fashion watchdog Diet Sabya summed it up best, declaring on Instagram:

“King Khan in all-black Sabyasachi, tiger sceptre in hand – very much giving modern maharaja core. It’s giving Shehenshah energy. The insane ‘K’ necklace? Not K-K-K-Kiran… K for King, obviously. Dripping in drama. Drenched in power. MAJORRRR, baby. MAJORRRRR.”

And truly, nothing less would have done. After all, this wasn’t just about a red carpet walk—it was a coronation.

A Historic Met Gala for India

Shah Rukh’s appearance is just the beginning of what’s shaping up to be India’s most glorious representation at the Met Gala. With the likes of Diljit Dosanjh, Kiara Advani, Priyanka Chopra, Isha Ambani, and Natasha Poonawalla all set to appear, Indian glamour has arrived and it’s unapologetically loud, proud, and couture-clad.

The Theme: tailored, timely, and transformative

This year’s Met Gala isn’t just another fancy-dress parade. It’s rooted in something much deeper, style as a statement. Titled “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style”, the exhibition is inspired by Monica L. Miller’s groundbreaking book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity.

ff

The 2025 dress code? “Tailored for You” an ode to bespoke fashion and the cultural richness of Black menswear through the ages. It’s also the first time in over two decades that the Met Gala has placed menswear centre stage.
The Costume Institute’s exhibition presents a powerful exploration of Black fashion history, from the 18th century to today, through the refined, rebellious lens of dandyism. As Gala committee member Usher said, “This theme is not only timely, it’s a celebration of culture that’s long overdue.”

The star-studded guest list

It’s not a Met Gala without its iconic co-chairs and 2025’s list packs a punch. Joining Anna Wintour at the helm are music icon Pharrell Williams, Formula 1 legend Lewis Hamilton, actors Colman Domingo and A$AP Rocky, and basketball great LeBron James.
On the host committee? A stunning roll call of Black excellence: Simone Biles, Spike Lee, Doechii, Janelle Monáe, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Usher, Tyla, André 3000, Ayo Edebiri, and playwright Jeremy O. Harris.

SRK just turned the Met into Mannat

In a world where every look is dissected, every outfit is a meme in waiting, and every celebrity moment is fleeting – Shah Rukh Khan reminded us what true star power feels like. No gimmicks. No overkill. Just timeless elegance, cultural pride, and that rare energy only he can bring.
With the Met Gala 2025 being held once again inside the hallowed halls of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, this year’s event isn’t just about tailoring, it’s about rewriting the fabric of global fashion.
And with SRK leading the charge in full Shehenshah mode, one thing is certain: fashion will never be the same again.

5 things one should never tell about their partner to others— even family, as per psychology

Sharing your partner’s deepest fears, traumas, or insecurities which they have shared with you— even with close family — can violate their trust. These aspects are often shared in moments of emotional safety and are not meant for everyone to know. Psychology emphasizes emotional intimacy as a sacred bond, especially between partners; when one partner discloses a vulnerability, they are entrusting the other with their emotional safety. Breaking that trust can cause long-term damage, shame, and disconnection.

Choose & Read, one of Coimbatore’s earliest lending libraries, continues to stay afloat despite challenges

The smell of hundreds of books, touched and felt by human hands, envelops us like a familiar hug when we step into Choose & Read Lending Library on Trichy Road. Walking past its wooden shelves bearing Secret Sevens and Famous Fives is like going back in time to one’s school days. Many children in the city grew up reading books from Choose & Read, that is among the oldest existing libraries in Coimbatore. Almost 40 years old, it is now on the cusp of change, all set to enter the digital world through a mobile application. But first, we hear it from the founder about how it all began.

S A Noorul Ameen was in his teen years when his father sold books in a push cart in 1979 by the Teacher’s Training College near Clock Tower. “He was a Tamil teacher, and was well-read,” recalls the 60-year-old. “The two of us would visit scrap dealers in the city to buy books people discarded,” he says, adding that they would walk all the way up to Vadavalli and back in search of good books. This collection formed Noor Book Stall.

In 1983, the book stall moved to Eswaran Kovil Street in Kottaimedu. “It was around this time that we decided to take back books that people bought from us, for 50% of its cost,” he says. This practice gave way to a dedicated shelf on their cart for books that could be borrowed. “We stocked books by Sandilyan and Kalki that we bought at the book fair at Town Hall,” says Noorul. Soon, their collection increased, so did their customers.

Noorul found the idea appealing; one that let people read multiple books for a fraction of their cost. He realised this was what he wanted to do — lend books to people. In 1986, he took a 6×16 sq ft room for rent on Trichy Road, lining the cramped space with books that he bought for ₹50,000. “I stocked a lot of Tamil books by authors who were popular during the time, such as Akilan, Rajesh Kumar, Balakumaran, Ramani Chandaran, and Sivasankari.” He also had an interesting mix of English novels by Jeffrey Archer, Enid Blyton, and Archies and Asterix comics that he bought from Mumbai.

Writer Rajesh Kumar was present on their opening day. “We knew each other from our book stall days,” recalls Noorul. On day one, Choose & Read managed to get 53 members. “Some of them are with us to this day,” he adds: “Such as no. 9, Nimmi, no. 45 Duraisami.” Like all efficient librarians, Noorul never forgets the card number of his regulars. Back then, they had an ‘entrance fee’ of ₹25. Today though, they have membership schemes starting from ₹500.

The library moved to a bigger place nearby in 1993, that was right opposite St Joseph’s Matriculation School. “We were there till 2013,” he adds. This was among their best years. Noorul recalls how summer holidays would be like festivals, with children jostling for space inside, eager to borrow the popular titles before their friends got to them. “We would launch several offers, giving away gifts such as bags,” he says.

Noorul kept adding bestsellers to his list, never missing out on book reviews in newspapers. He knew the pulse of the reader, and what each writer was good at. In 2010, they had over 4,000 members, with new ones joining every day. Today though, it is a completely different story. They get just around 10 walk-ins a day. “Children don’t seem to read anymore; adults too,” rues Noorul.

Despite not making much profits, he wants to keep the library afloat. Having spent a major portion of his life amidst books, some amount of romanticism has seeped into him from their pages. Noorul talks about how one should take in the smell and texture of a book before setting out to reading it, just like how one takes in the aroma of food on a plate before a meal. “Books are life itself, something that should be an essential part of society for its betterment,” he says.

Noorul’s son S N Niyaz Ahamed has now taken over the reins and is in the process of adding their list of over 60,000 titles into the digital space. “A mobile application is in the works, through which one can borrow books that will be delivered at their doorstep,” he explains. “Readers can also recommend the books they wish to read on the app.“ It is set to be launched soon and will hopefully give a new lease of life to Choose & Read’s books, that are wrapped in crisp plastic covers just like the old days.

This Coimbatore initiative brings together people with a love for reading

At one of Metropolitan Readers Collective’s meets

It all began with a story Shweta Govind put out on Instagram in January 2024. “I just posted a text saying I’d like to begin a club for reading and arts, and was looking forward to hearing from people who would like to join me on this journey,” she recalls. The responses encouraged her to organise a reading session at a local cafe, combined with a calligraphy and art workshop, and the Metropolitan Readers Collective (MRC) was born.

Over a year since then, the MRC has been meeting once a month, mostly on Fridays. “The sessions are generally of two types: one, where each member brings a book of their choice and the other is a mutual reading session where everybody reads and discusses a mutually agreed-upon book,” Shweta adds. Each session is held at a different cafe in the city, and the sessions end with an art-making exercise, as a means to build mindfulness.

Ahead of a recent session held at a newly-opened cafe, Shweta talks about what drove her to start such an initiative.

For Shweta, who grew up in Dubai, moving to Coimbatore for college was quite a cultural shift. In Dubai, she recalls, she bonded with friends who shared her love for reading. Coimbatore, on the other hand, was quite a contrast. With very little to match the libraries she was immersed in, finding the same company proved to be a challenge.

She graduated in Fashion Designing, worked for several fashion brands, and married Govind Sethunath, with whom she owns GS Furnishings in the city. Over the years, Shweta was able to connect with like-minded readers. Slowly, the idea of a reading club took shape.

Shweta knew she did not want the MRC to be a group that started with a bang but ran out of steam in a matter of months. “Once I get someone to be a member, I try to make them stick, instead of attending a session or two and losing interest. That’s where the concept of concluding each reading session with a fun art-making exercise comes into play, as well as exploring a new cafe for each session,” she adds.

In line with her view that cultural experiences should not come with a price tag, Shweta has made membership in the MRC free of charge. The group has done away with entry forms and calendars, opting instead for an informal approach coordinated through WhatsApp. “But we do have some strict rules,” she adds. “Those who aren’t active are politely informed to exit the group, while their spot can be given to readers on the waiting list. I want this to be a fun unwinding session for people who love to read, which also means active engagement.”

The most gratifying part of this journey, has been meeting people wanting to develop the habit of reading, many of whom have now become regular members. “Many readers say they feel heard, and that this is a kind of therapy, where you get to share your thoughts and reflections upon reading,” she adds.

After a year of running the MRC, Shweta feels the experience has enriched her as well. “Through running these sessions, my own interests have broadened in terms of the literary genres I usually read, not to mention the exchange of ideas that take place. You walk into a session with one book, and walk out with 15 more,” she adds.

Shweta hopes to take the MRC, now in its second year, to schools and colleges, and get students acquainted with the pleasures of reading. This, she says, is something she missed during her student life in Coimbatore. In a world geared towards greater distraction, she sees MRC as a way to let younger generations discover the hidden pleasures that lie between the pages of a book.

After Italian athletes such as basketball player Danilo Gallinari, swimming champion Nicolò Martinenghi, and former Formula 1 driver Antonio Giovinazzi, Italian luxury apparel brand Paul & Shark has a new, more relatable global brand ambassador for its Indian fan base. Announced last week, cricketer KL Rahul is the brand’s first ambassador from India.

A label known for its affinity towards the sea and the outdoors, Paul & Shark’s CEO Andrea Dini says “the sea is in our DNA and always will be”. He says the brand draws inspiration from the “timeless allure of the ocean — its majesty, its contours, and its shifting colours”. “The sea is our main source of inspiration, it guides our creative choices and our projects. We create collections using recycled fibres, continuously research new technologies to significantly reduce our water consumption, and develop dedicated initiatives to protect the oceans and their ecosystems,” says Andrea, adding that their deep connection with the ocean is reflected in each of their garments: T-shirts, shirts, sweatshirts, trousers, beach wear, and more.

As for KL Rahul, this is not his first fashion-forward collaboration (Puma, Police) but he says all the brands that he is associated with are “more of a partnership than mere campaigns”. “With Paul &Shark, there is a much deeper alignment on values. It’s all about an overall lifestyle. The emphasis on heritage, craftsmanship, and long-term storytelling definitely sets it apart,” he says, adding that the brand’s fabric, the fit, the make is what drew him to Paul & Shark. As for design ideas he plans to bring on board as a part of the association, Rahul says he wants to explore silhouettes that blend classic Italian tailoring with Indian climate sensibilities. “…More breathable yet structured apparel. Also, I am looking at injecting a bit of sport-inspired detailing into everyday luxury wear adding subtle nods to performance without compromising on elegance. And, maybe co-creating a capsule that reflects my personal staples,” he adds.

Continuing with the announcement of the new brand ambassador, Andrea is now focussing on new store openings in cities such as Moscow, and Dubai, among others. Also on the cards are summer resort activations and advertising campaigns in coastal towns in the Middle East and the Mediterranean. A trend that Paul & Shark is known for. The brand’s recent SS25 campaign, for instance, was shot in Miami by Italian photographer Giampaolo Sgura, and styled by Italian fashion editor Anna Dello Russo. “It tells the story of a summer among friends, naturally spent by the sea, full of adventure, connection, sport, and shared moments. The sea remains at the heart of our narrative, it’s the common thread running through everything we do,” concludes Andrea.

The stage is set for the Met Gala, one of the grandest events in the world of fashion. This year’s edition of the Met Gala is undoubtedly set to attract attention from India like never before. Indian stars Kiara Advani, Diljit Dosanjh and Priyanka Chopra are set to attend, but it is safe to say that the world is glued to catch the appearance of one Indian celebrity in particular: Shah Rukh Khan.

The Baadshah of Bollywood is all set to make his Met Gala debut this year, wearing a Sabyasachi ensemble. Here’s everything you need to know about this year’s Met Gala —

What’s Met Gala?

The Met Gala, often dubbed “fashion’s biggest night out,” is an annual fundraising affair for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, held on the first Monday of May. Started in 1948 by American fashion publicist Eleanor Lambert, the event has grown in prestige and scale over the years and is currently known for attracting an array of stars from film, music, fashion and more— all converging to celebrate the Costume Institute’s latest exhibition.

Who gets to participate at the Met Gala and how much does a ticket cost?

The Met Gala is a strictly invite-only event, and only celebrities who are invited get to participate. The exclusive event usually sees a footfall of 450 guests. The biggest fashion brands buy a table (a 10-seater table costs $350,000, while individual tickets go for $75,000) to host their celebrity partners.

The theme of this year:

The theme of the Met Gala is selected in accordance with the theme of the Costume Institute’s latest exhibition. And this year, the theme is “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” inspired by Monica L. Miller’s book ‘Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity.’ The dress code, on the other hand, is “Tailored To You,” which denotes that this is all set to be the first Met Gala in decades — since 2003’s “Men in skirts” theme — to focus exclusively on menswear.

When and where to watch the Met Gala?

The Met Gala will happen at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The event will be livestreamed starting at 6 p.m. Eastern Time. Indian viewers can watch the Met Gala live on Vogue’s YouTube channel from 3:30 AM IST on May 6, Tuesday.

Who are the Indian celebrities attending Met Gala this year?

As we mentioned above, Shah Rukh Khan is all set to become the first-ever Indian male actor to walk the red carpet at the Met Gala. Kiara Advani, who is expecting her first child with Sidharth Malhotra, will grace the event as well. Earlier today, Kiara took to her Instagram account to share her excitement. The actor posted a gorgeously arranged table in a story she posted. Fans of acclaimed Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh will also see his debut appearance at the Met Gala this year. On the other hand, Met Gala regular Priyanka Chopra will make her fifth appearance, donning an outfit designed by Balmain.

Apart from Priyanka, Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt have attended the prestigious fashion event earlier. Interestingly, last year, Sabyasachi Mukherjee became the first Indian fashion designer to walk the Met Gala carpet.

What will Shah Rukh Khan wear?

Of course, going with the theme and Sabyasachi’s style, we can truly expect King Khan to look as regal as you can imagine. For now, all we know is it will be a black ensemble that is sure to turn heads at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Chai for hair growth: How to use ‘Chai ka Pani’ for hair regrowth

Chai for hair growth: How to use 'Chai ka Pani' for hair regrowth

In the world of DIY beauty remedies, few ingredients spark as much curiosity as the humble cup of chai. But beyond its aromatic allure and comforting warmth, “chai ka pani” or tea water is now being hailed as a surprising secret for hair regrowth. This age-old household staple, brewed from simple tea leaves, holds a treasure trove of benefits for your scalp and strands. Here’s how you can harness its full power for healthier, thicker hair.

What exactly is ‘Chai ka Pani’?

Chai ka pani’ refers to plain brewed tea water without milk or sugar. It’s essentially black tea that’s been steeped and cooled, containing active compounds such as tannins, caffeine, antioxidants like catechins and flavonoids, and even trace vitamins. While green tea has long been known for its skincare perks, black tea (used for traditional chai) is equally potent, especially for your hair.

Why Chai ka Pani works for hair regrowth

Before diving into the how-to, it’s important to understand why chai ka pani is effective:

Poll

Have you ever tried Chai ka Pani for hair care?

Stimulates hair follicles:
Black tea is rich in caffeine, which is known to block DHT (dihydrotestosterone), a hormone responsible for hair thinning and loss. Applying it topically boosts blood circulation to the scalp, encouraging hair follicles to become active and generate new strands.
Strengthens hair roots:
The antioxidants and tannins in black tea help in reducing inflammation and oxidative stress on the scalp. This creates an ideal environment for hair growth while strengthening the roots to prevent breakage.

istockphoto-1031468486-612x612

Reduces shedding:
Regular use of tea rinses can reduce excessive hair fall caused by poor scalp health or brittle strands. It also adds a natural sheen and softness to the hair.
Balances scalp oil:
Tea water gently cleanses the scalp without stripping away natural oils, making it especially useful for those with oily or dandruff-prone scalps.

How to prepare Chai ka Pani for hair use

Here’s a quick step-by-step to make your hair potion at home:
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons of black tea leaves or 2 black tea bags
2 cups of water
Method:
Boil the water and add the tea leaves or bags.
Let it simmer for 5–7 minutes until the water turns a deep amber-brown.
Allow it to cool completely.
Strain out the tea leaves if used.
Tip: You can also store this in a spray bottle for easy application.

How to use Chai ka Pani for hair regrowth

There are multiple ways to incorporate tea water into your haircare routine. Here are a few effective methods:
1. Tea rinse after shampoo
Wash your hair as usual with a gentle, sulfate-free shampoo.
Pour the cooled chai ka pani slowly over your scalp and hair.
Massage gently for 5 minutes.
Leave it on for 20–30 minutes before rinsing it out with plain water (no conditioner needed afterward).
Frequency: 2–3 times a week
2. Scalp massage with tea water + oils
Mix chai ka pani with a few drops of essential oils (like rosemary, peppermint, or tea tree). Massage this blend into your scalp to enhance circulation and stimulate growth.

istockphoto-1226065151-612x612

Frequency: Once a week as a deep treatment.
Hair mist for daily use
Pour chai ka pani into a spray bottle and use it as a hair mist daily. It can help refresh curls, soothe the scalp, and prevent frizz while nourishing the roots.

Who should try Chai ka Pani for hair?

Chai ka pani works well for:
People dealing with early signs of hair thinning
Postpartum hair loss
Hair fall due to stress or pollution
Dry, itchy scalp or mild dandruff
Those seeking a chemical-free, budget-friendly hair tonic
However, those with underlying medical conditions like alopecia areata or hormonal imbalances should consult a dermatologist before relying solely on topical remedies.
In the endless hunt for miracle hair growth solutions, sometimes the answer lies in your kitchen. Chai ka pani may seem like a simple brew, but its natural compounds make it a powerful elixir for healthier, fuller hair. Whether you’re looking to reverse hair fall or simply give your mane a natural shine boost, this desi remedy is worth trying. So the next time you make a cup of tea, brew an extra one for your hair too because good hair days might just begin with a kettle.

Sara Tendulkar and Siddhant Chaturvedi dating? Here's the scoop

When it comes to celebrities and their oh-so-perfect life, people are often interested to know more about them. While earlier, rumours were rife about Indian cricketer Shubhman Gill dating ‘God of Cricket’ Sachin Tendulkar‘s only daughter Sara Tendulkar, it seems that the duo have moved on. Now the buzz is that Sara Tendulkar maybe dating actor Siddhant Chaturvedi, as they have often been spotted together, reported Filmfare.
Revealing this, a source told Filmfare, “It’s still early days in Siddhant and Sara’s friendship, but the chemistry is very much there. They seemed to be enjoying each other’s company and looked very comfortable around one another. It makes sense that they’re keeping things low-key for now.”
Commenting on the need for keeping things low-key, the source further said, “Honestly, I wouldn’t want to jinx this beautiful union either.”
The latest buzz has taken fans by surprise! Siddhant Chaturvedi was earlier rumoured to be dating Navya Naveli Nanda, Amitabh Bachchan’s granddaughter. While neither Siddhant nor Navya ever confirmed anything, their low-key social media interactions and frequent appearances at the same events or places kept the gossip mills running.
On the career front, Siddhant has had his fair share of highs and lows. He made a solid impression with Gully Boy, but his recent film Yudhra didn’t quite hit the mark at the box office. Still, he’s not backing down and continues to push forward with new projects.
As for Sara Tendulkar, she has carved out her own identity beyond her famous surname. A graduate in medicine from University College London, Sara is known for her elegance, intelligence, and striking fashion sense. Though she hasn’t ventured into Bollywood, she enjoys a strong presence on social media, where her poised demeanor and style-forward posts have won her a loyal fanbase. Sara often collaborates with top fashion and beauty brands, making her a favorite among lifestyle enthusiasts and Gen Z audiences. Despite frequent media attention, she maintains a relatively private personal life, fueling curiosity around her rumored relationships and public appearances. With her natural charm and growing influence, Sara Tendulkar continues to remain in the spotlight—not just as a star kid, but as a personality to watch in the world of fashion and digital media. Many fans speculate she might eventually step into entertainment, but for now, she’s keeping everyone guessing.
