“Nico Harrison built arguably the best front line in the NBA”: NBA insider praises Dallas Mavericks GM for drafting Cooper Flagg and landing Anthony Davis

The boos were loud, and the backlash was fierce. When the Dallas Mavericks traded franchise cornerstone Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers, fans wanted blood—specifically GM Nico Harrison’s. Chants of “Fire Nico” rang out across Dallas, and a mock funeral even took place outside American Airlines Center. But just a few months later, everything feels different. On Thursday morning’s episode of *Get Up*, ESPN insider Shams Charania praised Harrison’s rebuild—one jumpstarted by selecting Duke phenom Cooper Flagg with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.

Cooper Flagg’s debut and Kyrie Irving’s recovery could make or break the Dallas Mavericks’ season

After defying the odds to win the 2025 NBA Draft Lottery, Dallas used its top selection on Cooper Flagg—officially turning the page on the Doncic era. Though the trade brought in veteran superstar Anthony Davis midseason, the decision to ship out Doncic was met with outrage. Now, with a loaded frontcourt and a young star in Flagg, the mood around the Mavericks has changed.“Whatever you want to say about the Luka Doncic trade, Nico Harrison has built arguably the best front line in the NBA,” Shams Charania said on ‘Get Up’.Charania pointed to a core group that now includes Davis, Flagg, Dereck Lively II, and Daniel Gafford, who recently signed a three-year, $60 million extension. Add PJ Washington’s versatility and scoring, and Dallas suddenly boasts one of the league’s most intimidating frontcourts.Davis, acquired from the Lakers, played just nine games last season but still averaged 20 points, 10.1 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 2.2 blocks. Lively and Gafford each shot over 70% from the field, while Washington contributed 14.7 points and nearly eight rebounds per game.Despite the promising rebuild, Dallas still faces one major question: Who’s running the offense until Kyrie Irving returns? Irving, who tore his ACL in March, won’t be rushed back. According to Charania, he’s targeting a return around January or February 2026.“The biggest key of this season is going to be Kyrie Irving,” Charania said. “He is the linchpin of everything they do there.”Until then, Dallas is exploring short-term options using their mid-level exception—potentially D’Angelo Russell, Chris Paul, or Malcolm Brogdon. Also Read: LeBron James confirms return for 23rd season shaking up Los Angeles Lakers rebuild and NBA futureDrafting Flagg marked the dawn of a new era for Dallas. Harrison may have weathered the storm, but expectations haven’t gone anywhere. The Mavericks are now built to contend—whether or not they actually do depends on the return of their All-Star guard and how the rest of the roster takes shape.

Signs of stability in West Asia that witnessed escalating tension between Israel and Iran first and then the US joining forces with Israel in bombing nuclear facilities in Iran over the past two weeks, prompted investors to buy stocks. The weakness of the dollar and the fall in crude oil prices, India’s biggest import item, also helped the rally. On the domestic front, RBI’s move to sharply cut interest rate by half a percentage point earlier this month and stable inflation numbers helped investor sentiment, market players said.According to Ajit Mishra of Religare Broking, the domestic markets witnessed a decisive session on Thursday that was supported by stable global cues, followed by a range-bound move in the first half. However, the market momentum picked up as the session progressed, driven by strong buying in select heavyweights across sectors, Mishra said. The broking house now expects the leading indices to gradually move towards their record high levels. The day’s rally was led by foreign funds that net bought stocks worth Rs 12,594 crore, the biggest single-session net inflow figure since Sept 20, 2024. On the other hand, domestic funds were net sellers at Rs 195 crore, data on the BSE website showed. Thursday’s strong upsurge in the market added about Rs 3.5 lakh crore to investors’ wealth with BSE’s market capitalisation now at Rs 457.5 lakh crore, data showed.

One of the greatest hockey players right now, Connor McDavid already has fans speculating on the nature of his next contract. Though McDavid has two years left on his present contract with the Edmonton Oilers, NHL experts have begun to speculate on next steps. On The Chris Johnston Show, reporter Chris Johnston made a strong comment about what kind of deal McDavid could choose and it has people talking.

Connor McDavid could sign a short-term contract after current Oilers deal ends in 2026

On Monday, June 24, 2025, hockey reporter Chris Johnston spoke about Connor McDavid’s future on The Chris Johnston Show, a popular NHL podcast. Johnston gave a very clear opinion on what kind of contract the Edmonton Oilers captain might want once his current one ends in July 2026.“I think it’s certainly going to be on the shorter end than the longer end,” Johnston said. “That, to me, is pretty much a certainty.”McDavid, now 28 years old, signed his current eight-year contract in 2017. That deal made him one of the highest-paid players in the league. But Johnston believes McDavid’s next contract may not be as long as the first. Instead of signing for another long stretch, he might choose a shorter deal to keep his options open.

Chris Johnston explains why Connor McDavid might avoid a long NHL contract

Chris Johnston didn’t just make a guess — he explained why a shorter deal makes sense for McDavid. Speaking on his show, Johnston said that the league is changing, and star players now like having more control over their futures.“McDavid is smart,” Johnston said. “He knows that if he stays healthy and keeps playing the way he is, he can write his own ticket.”McDavid might either re-sign for more money in a few years or pick a new team should he ever want a different challenge if he signs a short deal. McDavid’s agreement expires following the 2025–26 NHL season; should Johnston be right, we may never see another long-term contract like the one he signed in 2017. More details on this will probably come closer to July 1, 2026, when free agency formally starts.

NBA Draft Rumors: Los Angeles Lakers could make history by signing a third James forming a deadly trio with LeBron James and son Bronny

The Los Angeles Lakers made NBA history in 2024 by uniting LeBron James and his son, Bronny, as the league’s first active father-son duo. But the story might not end there—now, the franchise could be on the verge of an even bigger milestone: adding a third James to the roster.Eighteen-year-old Bryce James, Bronny’s younger brother and another rising star in the James dynasty, is already drawing attention as a potential 2026 NBA draft prospect. With his commitment to Arizona and a skill set some believe surpasses Bronny’s, speculation is heating up that the Lakers could pull off the unthinkable—forming the league’s first-ever father-and-sons trio. Will L.A. turn this family affair into a full-fledged basketball legacy? Here’s how it could happen.

Los Angeles Lakers’ Potential Interest in Bryce James

Bryce James, the younger brother of Bronny and son of LeBron, committed to the Arizona Wildcats after a standout prep career at Sierra Canyon and Notre Dame High School. Though rated as a three-star recruit, many believe his potential exceeds Bronny’s. Bleacher Report’s Andrew Peters recently highlighted the Lakers as a likely destination for Bryce: “The most obvious landing spot for Bryce (James) is his father and brother’s team, the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers took Bronny (James) in the second round a year ago and were seemingly adamant about getting him in that spot.” Peters also noted that if Bryce declares for the 2026 NBA Draft, the Lakers may be inclined to select him, continuing their trend of keeping the James family together.

Bryce James’ Playing Style and Potential

Standing at 6-foot-6, Bryce is a methodical forward who prioritizes efficiency over flashy plays. His strengths include: – Precise movement to scoring spots – Controlled, energy-efficient playstyle – High basketball IQ, likely honed under LeBron’s mentorship If he performs well at Arizona, he could solidify his draft stock, making him a viable target for the Lakers in either the first or second round.

How the Los Angeles Lakers Could Make It Happen

The Los Angeles Lakers already have LeBron ($51 million in 2025-26) and Bronny ($1.1 million) under contract, totaling over $52 million in combined salary. Adding Bryce would create an unprecedented trio.

Possible 2026 Lakers Roster Scenario

Player Age (2026) Position Contract Status
LeBron James 41 SF/PF Potential FA
Bronny James 21 SG Team option
Bryce James 19 SF Draft selection

Key considerations:

– LeBron’s future contract (may take a pay cut for roster flexibility) – Bronny’s development (G League vs. NBA minutes) – Bryce’s draft position (late first or early second round)

Why This Move Makes Sense

The Lakers have already embraced the narrative of family legacy, and adding Bryce would further cement their place in NBA history. – Marketing Appeal: The James family’s story is a global attraction. – Development Path: Bronny’s gradual integration (NBA/G League) could serve as a blueprint for Bryce. – Long-Term Vision: LeBron’s eventual retirement could transition into a mentorship role for his sons. While the 2026 season is still far off, the possibility of the Lakers drafting Bryce James remains intriguing. As Peters pointed out, “Assuming the younger Bryce is a similar prospect, joining the Lakers and splitting time in the NBA and G League could be the right call.”Also read: NBA Trade Rumors: Golden State Warriors reportedly eyeing $48,000,000 Boston Celtics star to form power duo with Stephen Curry and improve title oddsIf this scenario unfolds, the Los Angeles Lakers wouldn’t just have a father-son duo—they’d have an entire family making NBA history.

Jaish terrorist being tracked for a year killed in J&K, 3 others trapped

JAMMU: Security forces shot dead a Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorist Thursday during a gunfight in the rain-soaked forests of Basantgarh in J&K’s Udhampur district, where three of his associates remain trapped.Jammu range IG Bhim Sen Tuti said the terrorists are likely part of a group that police have been tracking in the Jammu region for nearly a year. “The weather is bad in Basantgarh. Once it clears, the situation will become more evident,” he said.Acting on intelligence inputs about the movement of a group of 3–4 terrorists, a joint team of Army and police launched a seek-and-shoot operation in the remote Bihali area early morning.“As the forces approached the location, the terrorists started shooting. Retaliatory shots were fired, resulting in the death of one terrorist. The operation is ongoing,” a senior official said. Additional troops have been rushed in to cut off possible escape routes.Monsoon rain, while slowing troop movement, is helping forces restrict the terrorists’ range and pin them within the forest.Tight security preparations are also underway for Amarnath Yatra scheduled from July 3 to Aug 9. “J&K police are fully ready to secure every pilgrim,” Tuti said. Around 30 additional companies have been deployed this year. He urged pilgrims to avoid independent travel and stick to official convoys for a safe journey.
