“Alexander Ovechkin is now the most productive player in the NHL – the best scorer in history! The Russian forward for the Washington Capitals scored the 895th goal of his career, surpassing Wayne Gretzky’s achievement.” shared Nastasiya Ovechkina on her Instagram a day ago.
The proud, proud, proud wife of Alexander Ovechkin, Nastasiya Ovechkina, also known as Anastasia Shubskaya, could not contain her excitement. While she maintained her composure when Alex Ovechkin broke Wayne Gretzky’s 894th most-scored NHL goal record, her eyes were watered, and they reflected years and years of love for him!

Alex Ovechkin met Nastasiya Ovechkina or Anastasia Shubskaya at the Beijing Olympics in 2008

Washington Capitals left winger and captain Alexander Ovechkin first met his wife, Nastasiya Ovechkina or Anastasia Shubskaya, at the Beijing Olympics, in 2008. That’s when they shared their phone numbers. But they lost contact for the next seven years. Then, in 2015, Alex Ovechkin began commenting on Anastasia Shubskaya’s Instagram posts. Back then, Nastasiya Ovechkina was a Russian model.
In an interview with The Washington Post back in 2020, Nastasiya Ovechkina shared, “I came, and after this, I stayed till now.” That till now is five years old. With two sons, Sergei and Ilya. But before we jump to the present situation. How did Alex Ovechkin propose to Nastasiya Ovechkina or Anastasia Shubskaya?

Nastasiya Ovechkina was showering when Alex Ovechkin got down on his knee. In an interview with The Washington Post, Nastasiya Ovechkina or Anastasia Shubskaya elaborated on the whole experience,
“I was like, what? do you understand I am…and he didn’t stop, so I was like, oh my gosh! I got a towel and opened the door, and he was on one knee with flowers and with a ring. At first, when I opened the door, I thought I would kill him. Can you imagine you were in the shower, and then you need to get out…oh my god! Why couldn’t you just wait? He said, no, no, no. I wanted to (do it) right now.” The NHL’s famous couple got married in an intimate wedding ceremony in 2016.

Nastasiya Ovechkina has been in a few Russian movies

“Congress Going To Have Massive Organisational Reshuffle”: Senior Leader

Ahmedabad:

The Congress is going to have a “massive organisational reshuffle”, AICC general secretary KC Venugopal said on Tuesday as the party’s top leaders met in Ahmedabad and vowed to embark on the “path of social justice” espoused by Sardar Patel.

Briefing reporters after the extended Congress Working Committee meeting at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Memorial in Ahmedabad, Mr Venugopal noted that the Congress has dedicated this year to a complete restructuring of the party organisation and the issue was discussed at length at the meeting.

“We are going to have a massive organisational reshuffle, and there will be guidelines for the same. Our general secretaries and in-charges are on it,” he said.

Mr Venugopal also stressed that measures to empower the party’s district unit chiefs will be rolled out soon.

“We have already decided on that issue, empowering the DCC presidents and duties and powers of the DCCs has been discussed in various forums, already general secretaries and in-charges have approved the proposals and we are going to roll out that proposal in the near future,” he said while replying to queries.

Mr Venugopal said the Extended CWC passed a resolution that “our party will walk on the path showed to us by Sardar Patel ji”.

“He stood up against the oppression of the British, fighting for the rights of workers and farmers. He rejected communal forces after Bapu’s assassination. He fought for an India where everyone had fundamental rights and freedoms.

“Today, as we embark on the path of social justice, our Nyay Path follows the same principles laid down by Sardar Patel,” he said.

In his opening address at the meeting, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge also asserted the party’s claim to Sardar Patel’s legacy and accused the BJP and RSS of trying to usurp it under a “well-planned conspiracy” against national heroes.

Mr Kharge stressed that the Congress is taking forward the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi and Patel.

“Sardar Patel Saheb lives in our hearts, lives in our thoughts. We are taking his legacy forward. We have organised this CWC meeting in Ahmedabad at Sardar Patel Museum with this thought in mind. We pay our heartfelt tributes to him,” he said.

Earlier in the day, AICC general secretary Sachin Pilot told reporters that the Congress intends to create more empowered district units with their presidents having enhanced accountability, responsibility and political strength.

He said that the Congress would fight the upcoming elections with strength and expressed confidence that the Congress and its supporting ideologies would come together to give the BJP and the NDA a tough challenge.

Briefing reporters outside the venue, Mr Pilot said, “The intention of the Congress president and the Leader of Opposition is to create a more empowered district unit.” “The accountability, the responsibility and the political strength that we have thus given to the district presidents is set to be enhanced,” he stressed.

The final outcome will be decided after the convention on Wednesday but the intention of the Congress is to make the District Pradesh Congress (DCC) presidents more empowered than before, the former Union minister said, adding the move is aimed at expanding the party’s reach in villages, divisions and booths.

“The year 2025 is the year of the organisation to strengthen our workers, expand our party ideology and to make sure that the Congress reaches out in a mass contact programme through padyatras and door-to-door programmes,” he said.

The party wants to send a clear message not just to its opponents but to its supporters and workers that the Congress will not step back and fight aggressively both within Parliament and outside, and make sure it wins the next political challenge, Mr Pilot said.

“Elections are fought to be won, the next few elections we will fight with strength and I am supremely confident that the Congress and its supporting ideologies will come together to give the BJP and the NDA a tough challenge,” Mr Pilot said.

He said the resolution passed at the end of the session on April 9 will be named ‘Nyay Path’.

“Tomorrow’ session will write a new chapter in history,” he said The grand old party has announced that the Ahmedabad Session will be themed “Nyaypath: Sankalp, Samarpan aur Sangharsh”, with more than 1,700 elected and co-opted AICC members attending the main conclave on April 9 on the banks of the Sabarmati river between the Sabarmati Ashram and Kochrab Ashram.

Both Bangladesh And India Must Face Some Hard Facts Now

The short bilateral meeting – a first one too – between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladeshi Interim Cabinet Chief Mohammed Yunus, held on the sidelines of the BIMSTEC Summit, grabbed more eyeballs than the proceedings of the summit itself. This meeting was not just about two leaders of the region using an opportunity to discuss outstanding issues, but rather a cooling-off moment for the two neighbours whose relationship status would read ‘complicated’. Evidently, much water has flown between the two states in the past eight months, since Sheikh Hasina fled Dhaka and sought refuge in India on August 5 last year. Certainly, a few other official bilateral meetings have taken place over the past few months, but given that India had earlier refused Yunus’s requests for a chat with PM Modi, this latest one in Bangkok begs a few questions.

Was the meeting a reconciliation of sorts? Or was it about keeping up with the pretence of having normal ties? Or, did some larger calculations necessitate the photo-op opportunity? The change in Indian mood is curious, especially in the background of another controversy Yunus created with his statement. Last week, Yunus said during an event in China that because India’s Northeast was “landlocked”, Bangladesh was the primary gateway for the region’s maritime access and that it could be “an extension of the Chinese economy”. Not only was this factually incorrect, but the Bangladeshi invitation to China to build an airbase in Lalmonirhat district close to India’s Siliguri corridor is a rather contentious gesture, to say the least. The suggestion is sure to have raised eyebrows in the US, too, as it effectively draws Bangladesh into the Indo-Pacific strategic space. In any case, in the post-Hasina phase, India’s limited engagement and the US’s shifting priorities have indeed spawned the risk of deeper Chinese engagement in Bangladesh.

Was India Late To Act?

Since Yunus took over as interim head on August 8 last year, India has found it difficult to cope with the changed political landscape in Bangladesh. The shock of losing its best partner in the neighbourhood brought forth several severe implications, as the subsequent few months revealed. While India ultimately acknowledged that it had understood Hasina was losing popular mandate in her fight with the students, it couldn’t influence any change of track in Dhaka.

For the past few years, especially after the controlled January 2024 general election, there had been signals galore about Hasina losing touch with the ground realities as she increasingly tightened her administrative grip. But India still hoped that she would be able to hang in through the last tethers. Ultimately, however, a Dhaka sans Hasina left a gaping hole in the wall for India. It also failed to build any linkages with the new dispensation. The rule of the mob on the streets of Dhaka and visible domestic instability provided easy material to many Indian sections, too, to build their negative narrative.

Yunus’s inability to govern his country, given the law-and-order breakdown, and, more importantly, the large-scale violence unleashed on the country’s Hindu minorities, provided a linear view to India to judge the new dispensation. Add to that the tirade against the Awami League in Bangladesh alongside a growing presence of religious elements nationwide, and raging war cries about an ‘Islamist takeover’ of Bangladesh populated the Indian discourse. Any attempt to support a fledgling interim cabinet that was trying to stabilise a rather difficult and volatile situation ceased to be an option. On the contrary, Bangladesh continued to be seen through an emotive lens of ‘it-can-only-be-downhill-from-now’. Hostile cries were equally shrill on both sides, especially from the media and political circles.

The Anti-India Hysteria

Several irritants over the years have continued to stress the India-Bangladesh relationship, despite its firm foundations. This includes a water-sharing agreement over the Teesta river, border action against civilians from both sides, and, most importantly, a growing perception in Bangladesh that most bilateral agreements between the two nations favoured India more. That perception was rooted in Hasina’s style of politics, where policies were decided without any public debate and discussion, given the absence of a real opposition from the parliament.

All this added to the anti-India hysteria in Bangladesh and invariably led to youth groups suggesting a review of some of these decisions, widening the trust deficit further. The Hasina government had grown increasingly disconnected from the country’s youth, and Hasina herself had failed to tackle the criticism coming her way (though even at present, the Bangladesh polity seems to be showing slivers of similar intolerant behaviour). Dhaka’s strong diplomatic overtures to Pakistan and China also added to misgivings.

Dhaka’s Strengthening Outreach

While certain quarters in India see the recent meeting as an acceptance of the Yunus government’s style of politics, the meeting itself is unlikely to change the course of the present state of bilateral ties. It serves a different purpose: the goal is not to embrace the Yunus government but to perhaps ensure that Bangladesh does not turn into a neighbour that is exploited by hostile forces.

Going forward, the issue of the extradition of Sheikh Hasina from India will remain a sticky point, given the complex legalities involved in such a case. Both India and Bangladesh will have to find a modus vivendi to overcome their differing positions.

Overall, the Modi-Yunus meeting should be seen as a good gesture, and nothing more. The bilateral frank conversations were a useful exercise as India’s main objective is to see Bangladesh move forward towards inclusive multiparty elections and usher in a stable democratic government. But it will be a long haul till then. Political witch-hunting will have to stop, while various political stakeholders will have to converge on a common path before free and fair elections can be held. Evidently, there is a Bangladesh beyond Hasina, and only Indian support, not censure, can shape stable and fruitful bilateral ties in the days ahead.

Satish Salian’s Lawyer Faces Contempt Action For Remarks On High Court Judge

Mumbai:

The Bombay High Court on Tuesday initiated suo motu (on its own) contempt proceedings against lawyer Nilesh Ojha for his “scandalous and defamatory” remarks against a sitting HC judge during a press briefing on Disha Salian death case.

The lawyer’s statements made at a press conference earlier this month are “ex-facie contemptuous,” the high court said, and ordered YouTube and a Marathi news channel to forthwith remove the video of the press conference.

Nilesh Ojha represents Satish Salian, who has moved the HC seeking a probe into the death of his daughter Disha Salian in 2020.

A larger bench of Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justices A S Chandurkar, M S Sonak, Ravindra Ghuge and A S Gadkari said the remarks made by Mr Ojha in the press conference held on April 1 against the sitting high court judge and a former Chief Justice of Bombay HC “lowered the dignity of the court”.

“The statements prima facie constitute criminal contempt. We direct registry to issue notice to Mr Ojha,” the court said, posting the matter for further hearing on April 29.

The court also directed YouTube and a Marathi news channel to forthwith remove the video of the press conference and also restrained them from uploading it in future.

“The statements in the press conference appear to have been made deliberately to scandalise the authority of this court and also a sitting judge. They are scandalous and defamatory allegations,” the bench noted in its order.

The statements also tend to lower the dignity of this court. The manner in which the statements have been made certainly amounts to causing obstruction in the administration of justice, the HC said.

“The statements are ex-facie contemptuous,” the court said.

Disha Salian, former manager of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, was found dead in June 2020.

Last month, Satish Salian moved the HC, seeking a fresh probe into the mysterious circumstances under which his daughter was found dead.

The petition urged the HC to order the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray, and transfer of the probe to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The plea alleged that Disha Salian was brutally raped and murdered, and subsequently there was a politically-orchestrated cover-up to protect certain influential persons.

In the press conference held on April 1, Salian’s lawyer Nilesh Ojha levelled allegations of corruption against the sitting HC judge before whom the plea was listed for hearing on April 2.

The high court on April 2 said the plea pertains to the assignment of the bench headed by Justice Sarang Kotwal and ordered the HC’s registry to take steps to place the matter before that bench.

The larger bench on Tuesday said if Mr Ojha or his client had any reservations over the sitting judge, then he could have raised the same before that judge when the plea was to be heard on April 2.

However, instead of making the submission before the bench, Mr Ojha held a press conference, the court said.

Considering the “scandalous” remarks, the HC ordered YouTube and a Marathi news channel to remove the videos forthwith and asked the government to ensure this was done immediately.

Disha Salian died on June 8, 2020, after falling off the 14th floor of a residential building in Mumbai’s Malad area. The city police then registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR).

Six days later, actor Sushant Singh Rajput was found hanging from the ceiling of his apartment in Bandra area here on June 14, 2020. While the city police initially said it was a case of suicide, the case was later handed over to the CBI.

The CBI last month submitted a closure report in the case.

‘Won at life,’ says bride as groom rejects dowry cash pile, shares touching viral video

‘Won at life,’ says bride as groom rejects dowry cash pile, shares touching viral video

In many parts of South Asia, the dowry system has long been an ingrained tradition that has been a burden on the bride’s family. Despite being outlawed in countries like India, the practice still persists in various forms, often being a factor of gender inequality and financial strain. However, as society continues to grow modern day by day, more individuals are rejecting outdated customs and choosing to embrace progressive values instead. A recent viral wedding video is a perfect example of this growing shift, showing how love and respect in marriage can transcend old societal expectations.
Recently, Dr. Komal Saini’s wedding video has captured the hearts of thousands across social media. The video, titled “My marriage video. #Say no to dowry,” shows a beautiful moment during her wedding where her groom takes a strong stance against dowry. As part of the traditional dowry exchange, the bride’s father is seen handing over stacks of cash to the groom. But instead of accepting the full amount, the groom, with great respect, takes only a few notes and returns the rest.

The moment that won hearts on social media

Dr. Saini’s caption of the video reads, “i definitely won at life,” capturing the pride and happiness of witnessing such a meaningful moment. This act of defiance against the dowry system has won hearts of viewers, many of whom praised the couple for their courage in breaking free from societal norms. The groom’s refusal to accept the dowry was not just a symbolic gesture, but it was a statement that respect, love, and equality should be at the core of every marriage.

Screenshot

What struck viewers the most was the emotional response from the bride’s father. Tears rolled down his face which were symbolic of relief and joy, as he realised his daughter was marrying into a family that valued her as an individual, rather than as a commodity.

Internet praises the ‘principled’ groom

The video received multiple comments on social media. A user wrote, “The way Uncle touched the groom’s hand. Simply melted my heart.” Another user commented, “Those tears in uncle’s eyes reflect how glad he is from inside to get such a pure soul as his son-in-law.”
Many viewers also expressed admiration for the groom’s upbringing. “To break a barrier of dowry needs courage and a good heart. Salute to this groom,” one comment read. Another noted, “The father was about to cry… because he got emotional that his daughter is going in safe hands.” People also praised the groom’s parents for raising such a compassionate and principled son. “Salute to his parents who made him a real person and a gentleman,” said one admirer, while another added, “His mother raised a gentleman.”

Screenshot

The emotional impact of the video is undeniable. As a user said, “Pata nahi but it fills my eyes with tears whenever I see this..this tradition should go..father gives his most precious thing in the world… respect the father & respect that girl who leaves her family to make your world a beautiful place.”
This heart-winning video is a reminder that change often starts with small but significant steps, and moments like these have the power to reshape societal attitudes and inspire future generations.

MK Stalin Welcomes Supreme Court Rap For Governor

Chennai:

Tamil Nadu has secured a “historic verdict” from the Supreme Court, Chief Minister MK Stalin said Tuesday, after the court ruled Governor RN Ravi’s withholding of assent for 10 bills – including two passed by the previous administration, when the AIADMK was in power – is “illegal” and “arbitrary”.

In brief remarks to the state Assembly this afternoon the Chief Minister said, “The Supreme Court has granted assent to all bills we passed and (to which) the Governor had refused assent.”

“This is a big victory not just for Tamil Nadu but all Indian states…” the DMK leader said, referring to similar disputes between non-BJP states and their Governors, who are appointed by the centre.

The ruling party also demanded Mr Ravi – with whom the DMK has had several run-ins – resign out of “respect (for the) office of the Governor”, underscoring the hostilities between both sides.

Hours earlier a bench of Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice R Mahadevan ordered the pending bills “cleared from the date it was re-presented to the Governor, who did not act in “good faith”.

READ | Supreme Court Verdict On Governor’s Powers In Tamil Nadu Case

Over the past several years the DMK has accused Governor Ravi – who, like all Governors, was appointed by the BJP-led central government – of deliberately delaying its bills and scuttling the southern state’s development projects by “undermining the elected administration”.

The ruling party has also claimed the Governor’s actions amount to “undermining (of) the will of the people” by deliberately delaying bills sent for clearance.

The squabble between the state and the Governor frequently made headlines and, just as frequently, came up before the top court. In January an increasingly frustrated Supreme Court made strong observations, telling both sides to resolve differences or it would be forced to act.

READ | “Resolve This Or…”: Court Warns Tamil Nadu Government, Governor

As far back as November 2023 the court – which has heard similar pleas from other non-BJP states, such as Kerala and Punjab – had asked tough questions of Mr Ravi. “These bills have been pending since 2020… What was he (Mr Ravi) doing for three years?” the court asked.

This boost for the DMK comes as tensions between the state and centre ramp up over at least three contentious issues – delimitation, the ‘Hindi imposition’ row, and the rejection of a bill proposing Tamil Nadu’s exemption from the NEET, or national entrance test for medical courses.

It also comes as the DMK (and its allies, including the Congress), the AIADMK, and the BJP prep for next year’s Assembly election.

How to get Coca Leaves in Schedule 1

How to get Coca Leaves in Schedule 1

In Schedule 1, you have to cultivate, produce, and deal different drugs to expand your empire. When it comes to cocaine production, you will need to get Coca Leaves, which can be cultivated from Coca Seeds.
However, these seeds aren’t readily available, and are a premium commodity. You will first have to unlock the exclusive dealer named Salvador Moreno, and then order these seeds from him. The guide below will walk you through the process of acquiring Coca Seeds, cultivating them into Coca Leaves, and processing them.

Guide on obtaining Coca Leaves in Schedule 1

How to Make/cook Cocaine in Schedule 1 Game – How to use Cauldron

Unlocking Salvador Moreno

To get started, you need to unlock Salvador Moreno, who is the exclusive supplier of Coca Seeds. The supplier operates from the Docks area, and you will have to reach the Enforcer I rank to unlock the same. To achieve the particular rank, you must expand your empire and successfully manage your operations in the other regions.
After Docks is open for you, the next thing to do is establish connections with either Javier Perez or Mac Cooper. They will introduce you to Salvador Moreno, and you may then arrange the purchase of Coca Seeds in Schedule 1.

Purchasing Coca Seeds and cultivating into Coca Leaves

As already stated, Coca Seeds are a premium commodity in Schedule 1, and you will have to pay the big bucks to acquire them. If you are ordering them through a dead drop, each seed will cost you $80, and there will be a purchase limit of $2,000 or 10 seeds per transaction. Alternatively, in-person purchases will require you to spend $150 per seed. These seeds will be a significant investment, so you must plan your finances correctly.
Once you have got your hands on Coca Seeds, you must start with the cultivation. Planting them follows the same procedure as other seeds that you generally acquire from Albert. All you have to do is set up a grow tent or pot with soil, remove the seed cap, and plant the seed.
If you’ve hired a Botanist in Schedule 1, the process becomes even easier. You must simply put the Coca Seed on an appropriate rack and assign the supplies. The Botanist will take up the entire growth process and would ensure optimal yield.

Harvesting and processing Coca Leaves

You’ll finally have mature Coca Leaves ready for harvest. After harvesting, you can transform these leaves into a sellable product by processing them in a Cauldron. The particular equipment is available upon reaching Enforcer I, and you can purchase it from Oscar for $3,000.
Upon setting up the Cauldron, you can begin processing the Coca Leaves, with the standard recipe requiring 20 Coca Leaves and 1 unit of Gasoline. For a higher-quality output, you can also consider drying the Coca Leaves on a drying rack.
Additionally, to completely streamline the production, you can consider hiring staff. A fully automated production for the particular drug requires you to have one Botanist, three Handlers, and four Chemists.

The 15 Minutes That Rocked Stock Markets

At just after 10 a.m., shouting erupted on the Siebert trading floor in downtown Manhattan. Mark Malek, the firm’s chief investment officer, rushed out of his office to hear his head trader screaming that President Donald Trump was weighing suspending the across-the-board tariff roll-out that had been sinking stock markets for days.

Malek didn’t believe it. “I call BS,” he blurted out. But seconds later, he watched in astonishment as stocks soared wildly, erasing all of that early morning’s loss in the S&P 500, and climbing as much as 3.4%. “The market is very sensitive,” Malek said. “Tenterhooks is an understatement.”

The headline that appeared to trigger it all seemed believable enough to traders desperate for some good news – even if it came from an obscure social-media account. “HASSETT: TRUMP IS CONSIDERING A 90-DAY PAUSE IN TARIFFS FOR ALL COUNTRIES EXCEPT CHINA,” read the post on X.

As stocks started to surge, the reposts piled up, followed by nearly identical headlines from major news outlets, including CNBC and Reuters. Within seven minutes, the S&P had added over $2.5 trillion in value.

And then, just as quickly, it evaporated. The White House said the remarks attributed to Kevin Hassett, the National Economic Council director, were “fake news” and stocks plummeted again. CNBC and Reuters acknowledged the mistake in statements and issued corrections. (Bloomberg News didn’t publish the headline. Bloomberg did note to listeners of its Equities Squawk that unconfirmed social-media reports of a possible tariff delay had pushed the market higher.)

When traders “realized this headline wasn’t right, everything sold off again. Now everyone is getting their butts kicked,” said Peter Tuchman, senior floor trader at TradeMas at the New York Stock Exchange. “This is madness.”

All told, the round trip lasted just 15 minutes.

“The velocity of the moves was just staggering,” said Justin Wiggs, a managing director in equity trading at Stifel Nicolaus. “It felt swifter than anything I ever experienced during Covid and the financial crisis on a trading desk.”

Still, even after stocks gave back their gains, the selling fever coursing through the market subsided, with stocks fluctuating between gains and losses in the afternoon. The episode served as a reminder to some investors that it doesn’t take much to spark a sudden rally at moments like this, forcing them to rethink how much they’d gutted their equity positions.

“The upside risk is just as scary when markets rip 8% on a Truth Social post or false headline,” said Chris Murphy, co-head of derivatives strategy at Susquehanna.
