Mumbai’s chase showed promise when captain Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma built a partnership of 89 runs from 34 balls. However, both batsmen were dismissed within four balls of each other in the closing stages.
Krunal Pandya claimed three wickets in the final over to seal the victory for Bengaluru.

When will CSK legend MS Dhoni retire from IPL? Astrologer Greenstone Lobo predicts

It has been a sensational season thus far for RCB who had earlier ended a 17-year drought against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. On March 28, RCB had thrashed CSK by 50 runs for their first win at Chepauk since 2008.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians continued their poor form, recording their fourth loss in five matches this season.

It Would Be Honour To Coach Team India: Zaheer Khan

File photo of Zaheer Khan.© BCCI

Zaheer Khan, former Indian left-arm fast bowler and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) mentor for the Indian Premier League, has said that it will be an honour if he gets an opportunity to coach Team India. “It would be an honour to coach Team India,” Zaheer Khan told Boria Majumdar in Kolkata at a CII event, according to a video posted by RevSportz on their X handle. The left-arm fast bowler went on to participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for two additional years before retiring in 2017. Following his retirement, Zaheer Khan worked as a bowling coach with Mumbai Indians in international cricket prior to accepting a position as a mentor at LSG in 2024.

Zaheer Khan made his debut in the ICC Knockout Cup in 2000 and immediately hit the headlines when he yorked Steve Waugh, beating him for pace. An Indian express-pacer was a once-in-a-blue-moon discovery, and his ability to bowl fast yorkers at the death, move the ball off the deck and in the air, and maintain his pace set him apart from the more metronomic fast bowlers that India was used to.

In his illustrious international career, Zaheer picked up 311 Test wickets in 92 matches and overall 610 scalps in 309 international matches across all formats for Men in Blue.

Zaheer was a member of the 2011 World Cup-winning team and the 2002 ICC Champions Trophy team, which India shared with Sri Lanka due to a lack of results in the finals.

Zaheer represented the Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Daredevils in the IPL. He played 100 matches in the IPL and bagged 102 wickets at an economy rate of 7.59.

“Watch Him Bat Like This…”: Ex-India Star’s Heartbreaking Take On MS Dhoni’s Poor Show

MS Dhoni in action© BCCI

Chennai Super Kings veteran MS Dhoni‘s performance is once again under the scanner. Dhoni, who was considered as one of the greatest finishers in the world, is failing miserably to recreate his magic in the ongoing season. During the recent defeat against Delhi Capitals, Dhoni remained unbeaten 30 off 26 balls as CSK failed to chase the target of 184 at the MA Chidambaram stadium on Saturday. Dhoni came out to bat when CSK needed 110 runs off 57 balls. However, his slow partnership with Vijay Shankar (69*) resulted in CSK’s third defeat of the season.

After the loss, Dhoni face severe criticism for his poor strike rate and lack of intent. Many fans even urged the former India skipper to call time on his IPL career to let a young player take his place.

On being asked about his views on whether Dhoni should retire, former India batter Wasim Jaffer gave his nod.

“Yes, if he is not captaining the team then to watch him (bat) like this hurts a little,” said Jaffer on ESPNCricinfo

CSK have lost three out of four games in the ongoing season. Two of these defeats came at their home ground Chepauk and the five-time champions are desperately eyeing an opportunity to bounce back in the tournament.

“Since the last few games it’s not going our way. We are trying to improve, trying our best but not going our way. Definitely lost too many wickets. (Powerplay) It’s a major concern even in the bowling department. We are giving way 15-20 runs extra or losing too many wickets. We are trying but it’s just not happening. (On the team’s woes) I just think that we are slightly over concerned or tentative whoever is bowling in powerplay. And with the bat obviously you don’t want to lose an extra wicket but it’s just about being positive,” said CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad after loss against DC.

“Since powerplay we were always playing the catch up game. We were too far behind and we only had one batter left. DC bowled really well and used the conditions really well. Even when Shivam (Dube) was batting we were looking for momentum but it just didn’t happen,” he added.

CSK will now be squaring off against Punjab Kings on Tuesday for their next IPL 2025 match in Mullanpur.

Krunal 4-for floors brother Hardik Pandya’s Mumbai Indians in intense IPL showdown | Cricket News

Krunal 4-for floors brother Hardik Pandya's Mumbai Indians in intense IPL showdown

NEW DELHI: In one of IPL 2025’s most gripping encounters, Krunal Pandya stole the spotlight at the Wankhede Stadium as Royal Challengers Bengaluru edged past Mumbai Indians by 12 runs in a thrilling sibling showdown.
In a match where both Pandyas featured prominently, it was Krunal who held his nerve when it mattered most, delivering a match-winning spell of 4 for 45 in four overs.
Defending 221, RCB found themselves under pressure when Hardik Pandya launched a counterattack, smashing 42 off just 15 balls.

Alongside Tilak Varma (56 off 29), Hardik kept MI in the hunt, with the side cruising at 181 for 4 after 17 overs. But Krunal’s return in the death overs turned the tide dramatically.
With MI needing 19 from 6 balls and Mitchell Santner looking solid, Krunal struck with his first ball of the 19th over, dismissing the Kiwi with a full-length delivery.
From there, the veteran all-rounder unleashed a flurry of game-changing deliveries, removing Deepak Chahar and dangerous Naman Dhir in the span of four balls.
The over yielded three wickets and just six runs, effectively shutting the door on Mumbai’s late charge.
Krunal’s final figures read 4/45 — expensive on paper, but invaluable considering the context and the quality of scalps. His clinical execution under pressure earned him the upper hand in the much-hyped Pandya duel.
Earlier in the match, Krunal didn’t get to bat as RCB posted 221 for 5, powered by Rajat Patidar’s 64 off 32 and Virat Kohli’s brisk 67.
Despite a strong fightback from MI’s middle order, Krunal’s late burst ensured RCB’s third win of the season.
In a clash filled with emotion, power-hitting, and drama, it was Krunal Pandya’s icy composure and clutch bowling that settled the family feud — and the match.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru held their nerves to beat Mumbai Indians by 12 runs in their IPL match on Monday (April 7, 2025) for their first victory at the Wankhede Stadium in 10 years.

Batting first, brisk half-centuries by skipper Rajat Patidar and Virat Kohli powered RCB to 221 for five.

In reply, MI were stopped at 209 for nine after Tilak Varma (56 off 29 balls) and captain Hardik Pandya (42 off 15) threatened to take the game away from RCB with an 89-run stand for the fifth quick.

However, Krunal Pandya (4/45) took three wickets in the final over to seal the issue in RCB’s favour.

Earlier, Patidar led from the front with 64 off 32 balls after Kohli helped himself to a 42-ball 67. Coming in to bat in the 15th over, Jitesh Sharma smashed 40 off 19 balls to help RCB end on a blazing note.

Brief scores

Royal Challengers Bengaluru: 221/5 in 20 overs (Rajat Patidar 64, Virat Kohli 67, Devdutt Padikkal 37, Jitesh Sharma 40 not out; Hardik Pandya 2/45).

Mumbai Indians: 209/9 in 20 overs (Tilak Varma 56, Hardik Pandya 42; Krunal Pandya 4/45).

Apuia’s last gasp goal helps Mohun Bagan enter the summit clash

Lalengmawia Ralte (Apuia) pulled off a stunning goal late in the added time to help Mohun Bagan Super Giant complete a 2-0 scoreline against Jamshedpur FC in the second leg of the second semifinal of ISL-11 at Salt Lake Stadium here on Monday. The result tilted the aggregate 3-2 in favour of Mohun Bagan, which had lost the first leg 1-2 in Jamshedpur, and secured its place in ISL final for the third successive occasion.

After a barren first half, Mohun Bagan went ahead in the 51st when Jason Cummings converted a penalty before Apuia scored the spectacular goal in the fourth minute of the added time (90+4). Mohun Bagan will now face Bengaluru FC in the title clash which will be held at the same venue on April 12.

Jamshedpur put up a resolute defence frustrating Mohun Bagan’s efforts of finding an early break. This continued for the length of the opening session as the host mounted relentless attacks just to find them dying in the Jamshedpur box. The visitor stationed eight to nine men in front of its goal and this effectively offset Mohun Bagan’s offensive plans.

Jamshedpur goalkeeper Albino Gomes put in a fantastic performance under the bar and produced four good saves on the few occasions when Mohun Bagan attackers were able to break free.

The change of ends transformed Mohun Bagan’s fortunes as the host earned a penalty in the 50th minute when the Jamshedpur defender Pronoy Halder was hauled up for handling the ball. Cummings scored from the spot to get Bagan back in the game. The host finally managed to find the second goal after a series of failed attempts when Apuia found the net with a brilliant finish a minute before the long whistle.

The result: Mohun Bagan SG 2 (Cummings 51-pen, Apuia 90+4) bt Jamshedpur FC 0. (Aggregate 3-2)

Wankhede roars! Noise hits 138 dB as Virat Kohli gets Dhoni-like welcome

Wankhede roars! Noise hits 138 dB as Virat Kohli gets Dhoni-like welcome
Virat Kohli at Wankhede stadium. (Video grab)

NEW DELHI: Virat Kohli received a thunderous welcome at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday as Royal Challengers Bengaluru faced Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025.
When the RCB star walked out to bat, chants of “Kohli, Kohli” erupted across the iconic venue, with the official broadcaster’s ‘shor meter’ registering a staggering 138 decibels — one of the loudest roars ever recorded in IPL history.
WATCH:
The electric reception was reminiscent of the home crowd frenzy at Chepauk for MS Dhoni, popularly known as ‘Thala’. In fact, Kohli’s Wankhede entry echoed Dhoni’s recent reception in Chennai, where the roar was so deafening that even MI owner Nita Ambani was seen covering her ears.
Kohli didn’t disappoint the sea of fans. During his blistering knock of 67 off 42 balls, he became the first Indian cricketer to breach the 13,000-run mark in T20s — joining legends like Chris Gayle and Kieron Pollard in the elite club.
The 36-year-old now has 13,050 runs in 402 T20 matches, with 9 hundreds and 99 fifties. His popularity continues to soar, and Wankhede’s roar on Monday was yet another testament to Kohli’s iconic status in Indian cricket.

MI vs RCB LIVE: Excellent over by Pandya

Superb over by Hardik Pandya. Breaks the RCB rhythm just a little bit. Only four runs off it. Changes his pace up, creates a problem for Kohli and Padikkal to attack. The wicket still not here, but MI will take positivity from that over.

Punjab Kings’ assistant bowling coach Trevor Gonsalves said the side’s struggles at home in the IPL were not something to fret over.

“We had been to Ahmedabad and beat Gujarat Titans over there. That was their home. We went to Lucknow and won there. That was their [Lucknow Super Giants’’] home. So, there is nothing of home advantage or not taking the advantage or anything,” Gonsalves said on the eve of the match against Chennai Super Kings at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Stadium.

The defeat to Rajasthan Royals on Saturday was PBKS’ fifth straight loss at the venue.

Gonsalves added that PBKS may tinker with its line-up taking into consideration CSK’s strengths and weaknesses. “We do have a very balanced unit, but we will see a slight change maybe tomorrow [on Tuesday]. I cannot discuss or say anything about it, but you will see a change.”

CSK assistant bowling coach S. Sriram said the bowlers have done “pretty well” so far and added that the composition of the top-order will be decided only on match-day.

“Still do not have an idea. We will take the call on the day. I don’t think there is a fixed order. The coach and the captain will come up with what’s best for the team and the conditions,” said Sriram.

He added that taking time to find the perfect combination was nothing new for IPL sides.

“This is not the first time any team is going through this. Some sides get off to a good start and some take their own time to find their combinations and their roles,” Sriram said.
