Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 7 to Skip Snapdragon Chipset in Favour of Exynos 2500: Report

Samsung is believed to unveil its Galaxy Z Flip 7 later this year at a Galaxy Unpacked event. While details about the clamshell foldable phone haven’t been officially confirmed, new rumours about its specifications have surfaced up on the Web. According to a new report, Samsung could use its in-house Exynos 2500 chipset in its upcoming foldable phone. This would be a break from the recent past, where Samsung had used Qualcomm chipsets for its foldables.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 Could Run on Exynos 2500

As per a report by Korean publication Seoul Economic Daily, Samsung’s Mobile Experience (MX) Division will start mass production of new foldable phones in May at factories in Gumi, Gyeongsangbuk-do (Korea) and Vietnam. The brand is reportedly planning to produce about 2,40,000 units of Galaxy Z Flip 7 and about 1,70,000 units of the rumoured Galaxy Z Flip FE. Meanwhile, around 1,60,000 Galaxy Z Fold 7 units will be reportedly produced in four colourways, including a new Coral Red colour option, matching the Galaxy S25 series.

The report states that Samsung’s MX division is conducting final tests on installing the Exynos 2500 chip on the Galaxy Z Flip 7. The brand is currently working on adopting its in-house chipset in the next generation flip-style foldable phone exclusively regardless of the region.

Exynos 2500 chipset, designed by Samsung’s System LSI division and produced on a 3nm process, was originally planned to be installed in the Galaxy S25 series. However, it was cancelled due to performance issues and other unknown reasons, the report states.

Samsung has used Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipsets in its foldable phones since their inception. If the latest leak turns out to be true, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 could be the first to use the company’s in-house Exynos SoC.

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is anticipated to launch alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 in July. It is rumoured to come with a 3.6-inch cover display and a 6.8-inch inner display. It could feature 12GB of RAM and could be offered in 256GB or 512GB of storage options. It is tipped to get a dual rear camera unit comprising a 50-megapixel primary sensor and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor. It is likely to get a 4,300mAh battery and offer 25W wired charging speed.

Google Pixel Phones Receiving April 2025 Update With Bug Fixes, Latest Security Patch

Google on Thursday rolled out the April 2025 update for Pixel devices. It arrives as an over-the-air (OTA) update for the company’s latest Pixel 9 series, Pixel Tablet, and other older devices running Android 15. Google says it brings fixes for issues related to the biometric authentication, camera, and user interface. Further, the April 2025 update also includes a security patch which fixes three vulnerabilities in the software whose severity ranges from high to critical.

Google Pixel Update

On a support page, a Google community manager detailed the features of the Pixel update for April 2025 with the build numbers BP1A.250405.007, BP1A.250405.007.B1, and BD4A.250405.003 for global models. Meanwhile, Pixel devices tied to Taiwan+EMEA, Verizon, and Deutsche Telekom have slightly different identifiers. The following devices are eligible to receive it:

  1. Google Pixel 9 Series
  2. Google Pixel 8 Series
  3. Google Pixel Tablet
  4. Google Pixel Fold
  5. Google Pixel 7 Series
  6. Google Pixel 6 Series

As per the changelog, the patch fixes a problem which affected fingerprint recognition and response under certain conditions. This issue was reported on smartphones from the Pixel 6 series to the flagship Pixel 9 models. It includes a fix which improves the camera stability when zooming in or out in certain conditions.

Another fix part of the update is for the display and graphics. On the aforementioned models, a screen brightness flickering issue when consuming content on OTT streaming apps under certain conditions has been patched. Google says users also reported two problems with the user interface on Pixel devices. One caused overlapping views on the lock screen weather clock, while another affected the Pixel Launcher when creating a new user or switching between users under certain conditions. The April 2025 update fixes both of these.

Apart from bug fixes, the changelog states that the update bundles a security patch for three common vulnerability and exposure (CVE). The highest in severity, mentioned as “critical”, is listed with the identifier CVE-2025-26415 and discovered in the Google assistant subcomponent. Meanwhile, CVE-2024-56190 and CVE-2024-56189 were spotted in the Broadcom WLAN driver and Modem subcomponents, respectively, with their severity being “high”.

OpenAI Upgrades Memory in ChatGPT, Can Reference to Users’ Previous Chats

OpenAI announced an update to the Memory feature in ChatGPT on Thursday. The San Francisco-based artificial intelligence (AI) firm is now improving the memory function so that it can not only remember certain information about users’ preferences and interests, but can also remember and reference past conversations. The company said the new feature will enable the chatbot to have a more natural conversation with users, and will appear more like a companion. The new feature is currently rolling out to specific paid tiers of ChatGPT.

ChatGPT Can Now Remember Past Conversations

In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), the AI firm announced the rollout of the new Memory upgrade in ChatGPT. The feature has begun rolling out to ChatGPT Plus and Pro subscribers globally. However, due to data privacy rules, the company is not planning to release the feature in the European Economic Area (EEA), Liechtenstein, Iceland, Norway, Switzerland, and the UK. OpenAI said it will expand the feature to Team, Enterprise, and Edu users in the next few weeks.

The Memory feature was first introduced by OpenAI in February 2024 to the paid subscribers and then later expanded to all users. However, at the time, it could only remember certain pieces of information around the user’s preferences and interests. However, now, Memory can not only remember this but also reference all of your past chats.

This means when a user asks the chatbot about something that was previously discussed last week, the AI will already have context of the topic and can build the conversation on top of that. Notably, in AI systems, memory function is achieved by Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG). However, OpenAI’s approach is different, as it is offering a persistent user profile memory. This is likely being stored outside of individual chats, but technical details about the feature have not been disclosed.

OpenAI is also giving users the option to opt out of referencing past chats, or Memory entirely. Users can go to Settings, navigate to Personalisation, and make changes to the Memory setting. Notably, if a user previously opted out of Memory, the new feature will be turned off by default.

Users can also ask ChatGPT about what it remembers about the user by sharing a text prompt. Additionally, if users want to have a particular conversation without using memory or having the AI remember any of it, they can opt for the temporary chat option.

Google XR Glasses Prototype With Real Time Translation, ‘Memory’ Features Showcased at TED 2025

Google recently showed off a pair of extended reality (XR) glasses at the ongoing TED 2025 conference in Vancouver. While companies like Apple and Samsung have already developed mixed reality headsets (Apple Vision Pro and Project Moohan), several firms like Meta, Google, Apple, Samsung, and Snapchat are working on lighter XR glasses that resemble spectacles. The new Google XR glasses prototype connects to a smartphone, and it is capable of performing tasks like real-time translation or analysing recently viewed scenarios with a ‘Memory’ feature.

Google’s XR Glasses Are Equipped With a Camera, Microphone, and Speakers

On the second day of the TED 2025 conference (via Axios), Shahram Izadi, Vice President and General Manager of XR at Google, made a presentation wearing a pair of XR glasses that resemble the Project Orion prototype shown off by Meta last year. The executive reportedly told the audience that he was viewing the notes for his speech using the smart glasses’ display.

Izadi was joined by a colleague who also wore a pair of the smart glasses to show off a few features available on the device. This included generating a haiku about the audience, translating text into different languages, identifying music and playing it via the YouTube Music app on a connected smartphone.

Google’s XR glasses prototype are also capable of another useful feature dubbed ‘Memory’. As the name suggests, the feature allows the smart glasses to remember various objects it has “seen” via the built-in camera, and respond to user queries about these objects.

In order to reduce the amount of processing taking place on the device and keep its weight in check, the XR glasses are connected to a smartphone. Content is streamed to the handset and information is sent back and showed on the display. This also reduces the amount of power consumed by the XR headset.

The company previously confirmed that it is already working on smart glasses, after it launched a new operating system for wearables called Android XR. Samsung’s first mixed reality headset that will run on Android XR is expected to arrive this year alongside a pair of XR glasses, and Google has previously showcased a pair of wearable XR glasses that are connected to a smartphone.

Google has yet to announce plans to launch a commercial version of these smart glasses, and it could be a few years until the company introduces an XR headset. Meta could launch a pair of smart glasses based on its Orion prototype by 2027, and other brands could also introduce similar products in the coming years.

iQOO Z10x First Impressions | Gadgets 360

iQOO’s Z9x was a bit competitive in terms of price but only stood out because of its battery life and fast charging capabilities. Its cameras were very basic, and the same can be said about its software, which was loaded to the brim with bloatware and pushed spammy notifications. Nearly a year later, we have a successor, and it’s called the iQOO Z10x. It seems like iQOO did its homework this time, as the Z10x appears prepared to tackle the competition.

iqoo z10x design waves gadgets 360 iQOOZ10x iQOO

The rear panel is made of polycarbonate and has a matte finish, which does not pick up smudges and dust.

Out of the box, the iQOO Z10x’s design looks a lot better than the phone it replaces. Its mid-frame (also made of polycarbonate) has flat sides, but its rear panel has been given a curved treatment near the edges. We received the phone in its Ultramarine finish for review, which has a lavender-like colour. However, iQOO has added some detail in the form of a wave-like texture, which is visible when you twist the phone. I like that it’s subtle and not as flashy as the iQOO Neo 10R I recently reviewed.

iqoo z10x display gadgets 360 iQOOZ10x iQOO

Unlike the mid-range iQOO Z10, the iQOO Z10x retains its flat display panel.

While things have improved around the back, it’s not the same with the front. The LCD, albeit having the same 6.72-inch diagonal, FHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, has some thick borders. The borders are the thinnest on the sides (although not as thin as those on the iQOO Z9x) but are thicker at the top and the thickest at the bottom. It’s easy to conclude that iQOO has cut a few corners here, but more about this in our review.

The phone also retains its IP64 dust and water resistance rating from the iQOO Z9x. Given its chunky appearance and weight (204g), iQOO decided to omit the 3.5mm headphone jack, which was available on the previous model.

iqoo z10x cameras infrared gadgets 360 iQOOZ10x iQOO

The third smaller camera-like cutout is actually an IR blaster

The camera module appears abnormally complex, given that it only offers one user-accessible camera. It remains as basic as before, with a 50-megapixel (f/1.8 aperture) primary camera (with no OIS) and a 2-megapixel depth camera (for the Portrait camera mode). The selfie camera is also the same as before, and it is an 8-megapixel unit. I’m definitely not expecting a better performance in the photography department this year.

As for core hardware, there are a few upgrades. A newer MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor offers a 2.5GHz maximum clock speed compared to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC used in the previous model. The 7300’s GPU is also a lot faster compared to the GPU in the iQOO Z9x, so gaming performance should see some improvements.

iqoo z10x bloatware gadgets 360 iQOOZ10x iQOO

iQOO’s Z10x is powered by Vivo’s Funtouch OS 15, which is based on Android 15

Also new is a 6GB base RAM variant, an improvement over the basic 4GB RAM variant the iQOO Z9x offered. The iQOO Z10x is available in 6GB+128GB (Rs. 13,499), 8GB+128GB (Rs. 14,999) and 8GB+256GB (Rs. 16,499) variants. There’s support for several SA and NSA 5G brands and dual 5G standby. There’s no NFC, but you get Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity.

iqoo z10x fingerprint reader power gadgets 360 iQOOZ10x iQOO

The iQOO Z10x’s fingerprint reader is embedded in its power button

The battery has grown from a 6,000mAh unit to a 6,500mAh unit. Given the more efficient TSMC chipset this time around, I can only expect the iQOO Z10x to perform even better than the iQOO Z9x. Charging remains the same as with the Z9x, which is 44W.

With many upgrades, we are expecting the iQOO Z10x to perform better in some areas compared to the iQOO Z9x we tested last year. We are not too confident about its camera prowess, which remains the same as before. Hopefully, iQOO has taken care of the annoying spammy notifications we experienced on the iQOO Z9x this time. If you are looking for a big battery budget smartphone that won’t break the bank, the iQOO Z10x might just be the right phone. But we recommend waiting for our detailed review before you pick one.

Razer PC Remote Play for Streaming Games to Mobile Devices and Windows-Based Handhelds Launched

Gaming company Razer announced the official launch of the Razer PC Remote Play platform on Thursday. First announced at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025 in beta, the platform allows streaming of PC games to mobile devices such as phones and tablets, along with Windows-based handhelds. The company says it takes advantage of the full frame rate and resolution of the mobile device to deliver high-fidelity visuals without issues such as letterboxing or pillarboxing.

Razer PC Remote Play Features

Razer detailed the features of its new gaming platform in a newsroom post. It has a revamped interface on the Razer Cortex PC, the launcher which features a suite of tools for PC performance enhancement while playing games. It is built on the open-source Moonlight game streaming client based on implementation of Nvidia’s GameStream protocol. This allows users to play and stream games on any supported device from anywhere.

The PC Remote Play platform supports games from libraries such as Steam, Epic Games, Xbox PC Game Pass, and more. Gamers can stream games from Windows 10 and Windows 11 PCs to devices running iOS 18 or later, and Android 14 or higher firmware. To set it up:

  1. Install Razer Nexus and Razer PC Remote Play on the mobile device.
  2. Enable Remote Play in Razer Cortex programme on the host PC.
  3. Sign in with your Razer ID which will automatically pair the phone and PC.
  4. Connect the Razer Kishi, Kishi Ultra or other iOS or Android compatible controller.
  5. Stream the PC game library directly to the mobile device.

The company says one of its key features is extensive controller support. In addition to the touch-based controls, it includes support for the Razer Kishi controller, along with all other Android and iOS compatible controllers. The platform also brings full compatibility with keyboard, mouse, and trackpad when streaming games to the iPad. When paired with the company’s Kishi Ultra controller, gamers will be able to experience realistic tactile feedback for in-game actions, such as explosive gunfire and rumbling vehicle engines.

Further, the PC Remote Play platform has been optimised to take advantage of the streamed device’s display. Razer says it can automatically tailor the gameplay performance to match the maximum resolution and refresh rate of the device, eliminating the need to lock the game to fixed aspect ratios and thus, issues such as letterboxing and pillarboxing. The platform delivers improved quality and lower latency courtesy of support for the AV1 codec.
