Canva Unveils Visual Suite 2.0 With Canva AI, Canva Sheets and Canva Code


Canva unveiled Visual Suite 2.0, a redesigned platform with new features and AI-powered tools, on Thursday. The Sydney-based visual communications platform showcased several new features under the Visual Suite 2.0 umbrella, such as Canva AI, Canva Sheets, Canva Code, Magic Charts, and Visual Suite in One Design, at its annual Canva Create event in Los Angeles. The company did not reveal when these features might be rolled out widely or if all of these features will be available to those on the free tier of the platform.

In a press release, the company detailed all the new features and tools coming to users under the Visual Suite 2.0 banner. Canva called it the company’s biggest product launch since its inception in 2012 and highlighted that it is reimagining the design process for the AI-powered era. The focus areas of the new features include creativity, communication, and collaboration.

One of the major new additions includes Visual Suite in One Design. Canva is now increasing the scope of what users can create in a single interface. Previously, design sheets were locked to a fixed dimension—so if a user was working on a presentation, they could only add slides that matched standard presentation dimensions. Visual Suite changes that by allowing users to add and work with slides of varying dimensions within the same project, offering greater flexibility and creative freedom.

This means users can add a presentation slide, a document, and an Instagram Story slide to the same project. Canva says this will eliminate the need for separate tools and fragmented workflows.

Canva Sheets is another new addition that brings a spreadsheet tool to allow users to add complex data to the sheet to create a visual experience integrating data and text. The tool uses the AI-powered Magic Studio, and users can simplify their data with features like Magic Insights. Users can also import data from HubSpot, Statista, Google Analytics and more using the Data Connectors feature. Canva said the tool will also support common spreadsheet formulas.

In addition to Canva Sheets, the platform is also adding Magic Charts, an AI experience that converts raw numbers into visuals with a single tap. The company says users will be able to generate scrollable reports, animated visualisations, and infographics. Canva is also adding new templates to let users to choose from.

Canva AI, a voice-enabled AI assistant, is also being added to the platform. It is a quick shortcut to all the Magic Studio-powered AI features in a single place. The company says users will be able to access these tools in a conversational manner and generate text, slides, and images seamlessly. Canva AI will also allow users to edit photos and resize designs with a single voice-based prompt.

The company is also focusing on coding with its new Canva Code tools. It is essentially a low-code/no-code tool that allows users to use AI to write code for different apps and web designs with prompts. The company claims that users will be able to go from code to design preview. Users can create website landing pages, classroom resources, and other interactive designs.

Finally, Canva Photo Editor is being added to the platform’s Visual Suite. With new AI features, users will be able to click specific elements in an image to edit them, add AI-generated backgrounds, and remove or replace objects.

Canva also said that the company has taken steps to ensure the safety of these AI-powered tools. While building these products, Canva used “input and output moderation, safety filters, bias mitigation, and clear user controls over how data is used in AI training.”

The new smart TVs also feature a MagiQ technology that is claimed to enhance colours. They are equipped with Xiaomi’s Vivid Picture Engine and support HDR10+ as well as Dolby Vision. The new QLED TV X Pro series will go on sale through Flipkart.

The 55-inch variant is priced at Rs. 44,999, while the 65-inch version is priced at Rs. 64,999. The new series will go on sale starting April 16 through Flipkart, Mi.com, and Xiaomi retail stores. 

During the launch event, the brand also confirmed that a new Xiaomi QLED TV A Pro 32-inch variant will be available in May. Pricing details for the 32-inch TV will be revealed at a later date.

The Xiaomi QLED TV X Pro series is offered in 43-inch, 55-inch, and 65-inch displays with 4K (2,160×3,840 pixels) resolution and a 178-degree viewing angle. The display supports Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and offer up to 120Hz refresh rate. They use Xiaomi’s propriety Vivid Picture Engine 2 technology and DLG (Dual Line Gate) technology. 

The 43-inch model has a 30W speaker unit, whereas the 55-inch and 65-inch variants have a speaker unit with 34W audio output. They support Xiaomi Sound, Dolby Audio, DTS:X and DTS Virtual: X technology. The Xiaomi QLED TV X Pro models run on Quad Core A55 chip alongside Mali-G52 MC1 GPU. They pack 2GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. They come with a MagiQ feature that is claimed to deliver vibrant, true-to-life colours. Xiaomi has also included a Filmmaker mode.

Xiaomi QLED TV X Pro series runs on Google TV with Xiaomi’s own Patchwall UI. The series has Bluetooth and dual-band Wi-Fi connectivity. All three models feature Xiaomi TV+, a platform that provides free access to live channels. They support Apple AirPlay 2, and there is inbuilt Google Chromecast and Miracast. They have an inbuilt Google Voice Assistant that lets users navigate the TV with voice commands. They offer a Kids Mode feature with a parental lock.

The new Xiaomi QLED TV X Pro series ships with a remote with a numerical keypad. It has features such as Quick Wake and Quick Settings. The TVs include three HDMI ports with support for eARC, two USB 2.0 ports, an Ethernet port, an AV connector, Antenna input, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The 65-inch variant measures 1445 x75 x833, while the 55-inch and 45-inch models measure 1226 x76 x711mm and 57x72x563mm (without stand), respectively.

Vivo V50e With MediaTek Dimensity 7300 SoC, 50-Megapixel Rear Camera Launched in India: Price, Features



Vivo V50e has been launched in India on Thursday. The phone is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset paired with 8GB RAM. It packs a 5,600mAh battery with support for 90W wired fast charging. It is equipped with a 50-megapixel dual rear camera setup alongside a 50-megapixel selfie shooter. The phone is claimed to meet IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance. It joins the standard Vivo V50, which was unveiled in the country in February.

Asus Partners With Swiggy Instamart to Offer Instant Delivery of Accessories



Asus has partnered with Swiggy Instamart to provide doorstep delivery of its accessories in India. The Taiwanese manufacturer announced its association with the instant delivery platform on Wednesday. With this partnership, shoppers in select Indian cities can order different Asus accessories, including keyboard, mouse, and chargers, on Swiggy Instamart. Products, including the Asus Marshmallow Keyboard, Silent Ergo Mouse, and 65W Type-C GaN chargers, are now available alongside daily essentials on Swiggy Instamart. Notably, in January, Asus partnered with Zepto to make select computer peripherals available on the quick-commerce platform.

In a press release, Asus announced that it has teamed up with Swiggy Instamart to launch 10-minute delivery of its accessories in select cities. Asus keyboard, mouse, and chargers will be available on the instant delivery platform for doorstep delivery in cities like Ahmedabad, Chennai, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow and Pune.

The Asus 65W Type-C universal adapter (Black) and 65W Type-C GaN universal adapter (Black) are currently available for quick delivery on Swiggy Instamart. Keyboards like the KW100 Marshmallow keyboard (Beige) and the CW100 wireless keyboard (Green) and mouse combo are also offered for sale. The 4nm octa-core chipset supports up to 24GB LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 onboard storage. It is claimed to deliver up to 31 percent improved CPU performance over the preceding Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC.

Although Wang did not explicitly mention the name of the smartphone, his reply to user comments on his original post suggests that the phone is the anticipated Redmi Turbo 4 Pro and it may launch in China in April. Dinosaurs Weren’t Doomed Before the Asteroid Hit, New Research Suggests



Scientists say that dinosaurs weren’t doomed when an asteroid hit Earth. Aadhaar App With Facial Recognition-Based Authentication Unveiled by UIDAI



The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has unveiled a redesigned Aadhaar app for smartphones that scans a user’s face to confirm their identity. According to the UIDAI the new app is designed to enable digital verification via a QR code and the camera on a user’s smartphone, without the need to submit photocopies of a user’s Aadhaar card. The app could eventually speed up the process of identity verification, but concerns around the use of biometrics for authentication continue to linger.

UIDAI Conducts Testing of Revamped Aadhaar App

The new app was showcased at Aadhaar Samvaad, the stakeholder meeting with ecosystem partners, that was held in Delhi on Tuesday. At the event, the UIDAI demonstrated the revamped Aadhaar app, which integrates its Aadhaar Face Authentication system that scans a user’s face to confirm their identity.

According to the UIDAI, the new Aadhaar app allows users with an Aadhaar card to authenticate themselves without carrying a physical version of the card, or sharing photocopies of the document with a service provider. Once the app is set up on a user’s smartphone, it can be used to securely verify their identity and no details are shared with the provider.

A video showcasing the capabilities of the new Aadhaar app sheds some light on the authentication process. When presented with a QR code or an application that requests identity verification, the Aadhaar app will prompt users to enter their security PIN to unlock the app and begin authentication.

Users will then be presented with a masked, digital version of their Aadhaar card in the app. They can scan a QR code, which shows the information (for e.g. name, date of birth, and masked mobile number) requested by the service provider, which can be a hotel reception desk or a shop.

If a user chooses to go ahead with the authentication process, the app will prompt them to position their face in a circle in the middle of the screen. The app requires a user to blink in order to complete the authentication process, and a confirmation message is displayed to inform the user that their identity has been verified.

While the redesigned Aadhaar app might streamline the authentication process and cut down on the use of physical documents, experts have warned about the security of user’s biometric information on centralised servers. Facial biometrics, fingerprints, and iris scans are immutable and cannot be changed — unlike passwords and security codes — and leaks could put enrolled users at risk of identity theft and other forms of misuse.

The UIDAI says that the redesigned Aadhaar app will protect users against forgery (or editing) and data is only shared with a user’s consent, according to the UIDAI. It has been released to a small group of testers and will be rolled out widely in the future, after feedback is received from testers and ecosystem partners.

iPhone 17 Air (or Slim) is expected to debut in September this year as Apple’s thinnest phone to date. While we are still months away from the possible launch date, a couple of leaks about its thickness have surfaced on the Web. Most recently, dummy iPhone 17 Air models have leaked, offering us an idea about its design elements. The images show a slim build and flat frame. The iPhone 17 Air is believed to replace the Plus variant in the new iPhone lineup.

The alleged iPhone 17 Air dummy model was leaked by tipster Majin Bu (@MajinBuOfficial). The hands-on images show the phone to be similar to the renders we’ve seen in recent weeks. The phone appears to have a thin profile and flat frame. It boasts a wide pill-shaped, Pixel-like camera bar at the back with a single camera sensor arranged on the left side. 

The dummy unit of the iPhone 17 Air seem to have an Action button, power button, and volume buttons. The handset is expected to feature a Camera Control button, but that is not visible on the dummy unit. 

iPhone 17 Air is expected to debut as part of Apple’s iPhone 17 lineup this fall with a 9.5mm thick profile, including the camera bump. It is rumoured to be 5.5mm in thickness, not including the top camera bar. It is likely to feature a 6.6-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone is tipped to boast a 24-megapixel selfie camera and a 48-megapixel single rear camera. It is expected to have a Titanium frame and could run on the A18 or A19 chip with support for 8GB RAM.

The iPhone 17 Air is said to be priced between $1,299 and $1,500 (roughly Rs. 1,09,00 to 1,26,000).

Mastercard, Kraken Team Up to Scale Card-Based Crypto Spending in UK, Europe



Mastercard is taking a significant step toward broadening the use of crypto assets across Europe and the UK. The global payments leader has partnered with crypto exchange Kraken to facilitate card-based crypto payments for everyday purchases. The collaboration was officially announced in a blog post published by Mastercard on April 8. With its Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulations, the European Union is already one of the most tightly regulated crypto markets globally. Meanwhile, the UK is expected to finalise its own comprehensive crypto legislation by 2026.

In the coming weeks, Kraken will be launching both physical and digital debit cards to facilitate payments through crypto. As part of the partnership, UK and Europe-based Kraken users will be allowed to make crypto payments to over 150 million merchants who accept Mastercard.

Both, Mastercard and Kraken are attempting to narrow the gap between traditional finance and crypto assets, the announcement claimed.

“Our customers want to be able to easily pay for real-world goods and services with their cryptocurrencies or stablecoins. Our partnership with Mastercard is a major step in realising this vision,” said David Ripley, Co-CEO of Kraken.

In January, Kraken launched a feature to let users process P2P transactions through both, crypto as well as fiat currencies. Mastercard, in its announcement, said that this partnership follows the market success of this feature.

“In just 90 days, over 200,000 Kraken customers have activated their ‘Kraktag’ and are sending money worldwide as easily as a text message,” the post noted.

Mastercard said it is determined to expand digital payment possibilities and keep up with the globally evolving financial landscape.

“With a shared ambition to simplify, interoperate, and secure the digital asset ecosystem, we are proud to collaborate with Kraken and bring real value to their user base,” said Scott Abrahams, Executive Vice President of Global Partnerships at Mastercard.

Over the last few years, Mastercard has taken multiple steps to foray into crypto services. The company has partnered with Floki Inu, 1inch, and Swoo Pay among others.

In September 2023, Mastercard and Binance ended four crypto card programmes in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Bahrain. At the time, neither company disclosed specific reasons for ending the partnership. Previously, the collaboration had introduced Binance Cards, which allowed users to convert their crypto assets into traditional currencies for everyday transactions.
