Pebble Halo Smart Ring Launched in India With In-Built Digital Display: Price, Features


Pebble Halo smart ring has been unveiled in India in six sizes and three colour options. It is claimed to be India’s first smart ring with an in-built digital display. The smart wearable is equipped with health and wellness features, including sensors for monitoring heart rate, blood oxygen level, sleep cycle and stress levels. It supports wireless charging and is claimed to last for up to four days on a single charge. The Pebble Halo smart ring will go on sale in the country later this week.

The Pebble Halo Smart Ring has an MRP of Rs. 7,999 and is currently available for pre-orders at Rs. 3,999 via the official website. It will go on sale through Flipkart starting July 4 at 12pm IST. The ring comes in black, gold, and silver finishes.

The Pebble Halo smart ring is available in six sizes, ranging from size seven to 12. The size seven variant measures 53–55mm in diameter, while the size 12 measures 67–70mm. It features a stainless steel design and is said to be made from skin-friendly materials. It is equipped with an in-built digital display. The company claims that the ring offers water and dust resistance, although no certification details have been provided.

Pebble’s Halo ring supports several health and wellness features. It is equipped with heart rate, sleep, blood oxygen level (SpO2), stress, and heart rate variability (HRV) trackers. The ring also offers step and calorie counters. It supports gesture controls for scrolling videos online, playing games and flipping pages while reading eBooks or other documents. Users can also control the camera shutter and music playback on the paired handset.

The Pebble Halo smart ring is said to offer a battery life of up to four days on a single charge. The ring is said to charge fully in 120 minutes. It supports wireless charging and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity. It is compatible with both iOS and Android devices as well as the Pebble Halo app.

Sakana AI Releases Open-Source Algorithm That Lets Multiple AI Models Collaborate on Complex Tasks


Sakana AI released an open-source algorithm on Tuesday, which allows multiple artificial intelligence (AI) models to collaborate on complex problems. Dubbed Adaptive Branching Monte Carlo Tree Search (AB-MCTS), it is an inference-time scaling or test-time scaling algorithm that adds a third dimension to the existing framework of AI models. With this, when faced with a new problem, the system not only decides if longer reasoning is suitable or wider exploration, but it also decides which AI model is best suited for the task. In case the problem is too complex, it can also deploy multiple AI models.

Sakana AI Releases Algorithm That Makes AI Models Think Collectively

In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), the Tokyo-based AI firm highlighted that its new inference-time scaling algorithm creates an environment for collective intelligence for AI by letting frontier models such as Gemini 2.5 Pro, o4-mini, and DeepSeek-R1 to collaborate.

The company set out to solve a complex problem in the AI domain — how to combine the unique strengths and eliminate the unique biases of AI models to achieve higher performance. Sakana AI has been researching this problem for multiple years, and in 2024, it published a paper on “evolutionary model merging.”

Now, building on its findings, the company has released an algorithm which creates a system that lets AI models perform test-time compute on specific budgets, lets them generate multiple outputs to explore different perspectives, and even put multiple AI models suitable for the task to achieve higher performance.

Researchers working on the project were also able to test the capability on the ARC-AGI-2 benchmark, where the AB-MCTS system used a combination of o4-mini, Gemini-2.5-Pro, and R1-0528, and was able to surpass the performance of the individual models. Sakana AI claimed that while o4-mini solved 23 percent of the problems independently, it reached 27.5 percent when it was part of the AB-MCTS cluster.

Sakana AI has released the TreeQuest algorithm on its GitHub listing and has also shared its ARC-AGI experiments separately. The details from the study have been published in a paper on arXiv.

Samsung Tri-Fold Smartphone Reportedly Revealed in One UI 8 Animation Files


Samsung’s first tri-fold smartphone could be unveiled next week, according to recent reports. An image of the purported Samsung Galaxy G Fold handset was spotted by a publication, giving us a good look at the upcoming smartphone. While the tri-fold device is expected to arrive nearly a year after the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design, it is said to feature a G-shaped fold instead of an S-shaped fold. Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and Galaxy Watch 8 series at its next Galaxy Unpacked event.

Samsung’s Tri-Fold Phone Likely to Feature Three Outer Cameras

Android Authority and AssembleDebug spotted animations in the latest One UI 8 beta that reveal a new smartphone that is much wider than the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7. One of these files suggests that the Galaxy G Fold will feature three display panels that are connected with two hinges, while another appears to show the inner screen that is expected to be quite large when unfolded.

The lighter image showing the tri-fold smartphone suggests that one of the outer panels will house a vertically aligned camera module with three sensors. The middle panel is expected to be the cover display, with a centre-aligned hole punch cutout for the selfie camera. We don’t know what the third outer panel might be used for, but the animation file doesn’t appear to show the presence of any components.

Unlike the Huawei Mate XT, which folded in the form of an S, the rumoured Samsung foldable is said to fold in the form of a G (both panels folding inwards), which explains the cover display on the outer panel. The inner screen appears quite similar to Huawei’s tri-fold smartphones. However, the animation files indicate that Samsung users will have to be careful to not fold the panel with the protruding camera module shut before the other panel.

There’s another camera on the right panel of the inner display, and this might be used to take calls or click selfies when the display is fully unfolded. Some of these animation files refer to the device as the “Multifold 7” and this could be the internal codename for the company’s first tri-fold smartphone.

Samsung has yet to announce any plans for a tri-fold smartphone, so it’s worth taking these claims with a grain of salt. The company could simply tease the arrival of the advanced foldable at its next Galaxy Unpacked event on July 9. The company previously teased the arrival of the Galaxy Ring and the Galaxy S25 Edge at other events, and the tri-fold might be the next device to be unveiled next week, before it is launched later this year.

Shrinking Profit Margins Unwind Popular ‘Make in India’ Trade in Electronics



A sector that underpinned the once-popular “Make in India” trade is faltering as shrinking margins and slowing growth shake investor confidence.

Following triple-digit share gains in recent years, electronics manufacturers — who make everything from Samsung Electronics phones to air conditioning units — are facing a sharp reversal as investor enthusiasm cools. Among them, shares of Dixon Technologies India Ltd. and Kaynes Technology India Ltd. have tumbled more than 15 percent this year, underperforming the broader market rally.

The unwind marks a turning point of a trade once central to the bullish case about India’s manufacturing ascent. As companies boost spending, some investors are questioning whether market demand is keeping pace with the flood of investments. Rich valuations, increased competition and an expiry of government stimulus programs are adding to the unease.

“There is plenty of topline growth available for the leaders in this space – but when we incorporate high valuations and sensible margin scenarios into the growth outlooks, we believe capital can be more effectively deployed elsewhere,” said Vikas Pershad, a fund manager at M&G Investments.

The underperformance follows years of stellar gains, when shares of these companies surged thanks to hopes India could emerge as a manufacturing powerhouse to rival China. But that market frenzy also pushed valuations higher, with most stocks in the segment trading at above 50 times its one-year forward earnings, more than twice that of NSE Nifty 50 Index. Dixon’s Taiwan peers Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. and Wistron Corp. trade at about 11 to 12 times forward earnings.

In the last two calendar years, Kaynes shares have surged 888 percent while PG Electroplast Ltd. soared 771 percent. Amber Enterprises India has jumped 291 percent.

Wall Street firms are turning less bullish on the outlook. Jefferies analysts said this week that the risk-reward for Dixon appears stretched and reiterated its underperform rating, while Morgan Stanley downgraded the stock to a sell equivalent. Meanwhile, the ratio of sell rating to total recommendations for Kaynes is at the highest since its listing in 2022, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

Sentiment has shifted partly due to the looming expiry of the government’s production-linked incentive scheme, a key part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s manufacturing push. While the government has stayed mum on any extensions, media reports say Modi will let it lapse due to disappointing results.

Dixon will likely be impacted when the incentives for mobile phone manufacturers expire in the fiscal year ending March 2026.

Some firms are expanding upstream by acquiring suppliers, raising investor concerns about long-term cost increases. Kaynes is investing Rs. 3,400 crore ($397 million) for a semiconductor assembly facility, while Amber has committed up to Rs. 2,400 crore over five years for its electronics division.

Beyond electronics manufacturing, other segments of the market once central to manufacturing renaissance hopes have also slid this year. Those include shares of some renewable firms like solar panel and battery makers, as well as some auto component makers. In the latest blow, Foxconn Technology Group has asked hundreds of Chinese staff at iPhone plants in southern India to fly home. While India is still expected to significantly increase its manufacturing base, uncertain market growth has prompted many stock investors to step back for now.

“Much of the growth so far was driven by government incentives, and long-term success will depend on quality of the capex and whether firms can develop a lasting edge over its competitors,” said Vipraw Srivastava, an analyst at PhillipCapital India.

Both headphones support active noise cancellation (ANC) and environmental noise cancellation (ENC). The Boult FluidX is claimed to offer a battery life of up to 60 hours, while the Pro model is said to last longer, for up to 70 hours. The headphones also offer quick charging capabilities.

According to the company, the Boult FluidX and Boult FluidX Pro have MRPs of Rs. 5,999 and Rs. 7,999, respectively. However, at the time of writing, the vanilla Boult FluidX were listed on Flipkart for Rs. 2,299, while the FluidX Pro headphones were listed on Myntra for Rs. 2,499. They are also available for purchase via Amazon. The base version is sold in Black, Green, and Ivory White colour options, while the Pro option is offered in Raven Black and Skin Beige shades.

The Boult FluidX and FluidX Pro feature an over-ear design with padded, rectangular earcups that rotate and have rounded corners. They also come with cushioned, adjustable, and foldable headbands. Both models are rated IPX5 for water resistance.

Boult’s FluidX and FluidX Pro headphones are equipped with 40mm bass-boosted drivers with BoomX Technology support, which is claimed to enhance audio depth and dynamic bass. They support ANC and ENC features for reduced noise disturbance and clearer calls. 

Both Boult FluidX and Boult FluidX Pro headphones come with a dedicated Combat Gaming Mode, which supports up to 60ms low latency for reduced audio-visual lag. They support Bluetooth 5.4 and Blink & Pair connectivity. They offer intuitive touch controls and voice assistant support.

The Boult FluidX Pro headphones are claimed to offer up to 70 hours of battery life on a single charge without ANC. Under similar conditions, the Boult FluidX headphones are said to deliver up to 60 hours of playback. According to the company, a 10-minute quick charge provides up to five hours of usage on the Pro model, while the standard version offers up to three hours of playback with the same charging duration.

Google has proposed fresh changes to its search results in an attempt to fend off growing criticism from rivals, a week before a key meeting that could lead to yet another EU antitrust fine, according to a document seen by Reuters.

The US tech giant has been under pressure after being hit in March with European Union antitrust charges of unfairly favouring its own services such as Google Shopping, Google Hotels and Google Flights over competitors.

The company, owned by Alphabet, will meet its rivals and the European Commission to discuss its proposals during a July 7-8 workshop in Brussels, the document said.

The EU’s landmark Digital Markets Act, under which Google has been charged, sets out a list of dos and don’ts for Big Tech aimed at curbing their power and giving rivals more room to compete and consumers more choice.

Last week, Google offered to create a box at the top of the search page for a so-called vertical search service (VSS) which would contain links to specialised search engines as well as to hotels, airlines, restaurants and transport services.

The latest offer, called Option B, is an alternative to last week’s proposal, according to a Google document sent by the Commission to involved parties and seen by Reuters.

“Under ‘Option B’, whenever a VSS box is shown, Google will also show a box that includes free links to suppliers,” the document said.

The box for suppliers – in essence hotels, restaurants, airlines and travel services – would be below the VSS box, with Google organising the information about the suppliers.

Option B “provides suppliers opportunities while not creating a box that can be characterised as a Google VSS”, the document said.

“We’ve made hundreds of alterations to our products as part of our DMA compliance,” a Google spokesperson said.

“While we strive for compliance, we remain genuinely concerned about some of the real world consequences of the DMA, which are leading to worse online products and experiences for Europeans.”

Google risks a fine as much as 10 percent of its global annual revenue if found in breach of the DMA.

Google Pixel 6a to Get Mandatory Android 16 Update to Fix Battery Overheating Issues



Google has announced the Battery Performance Programme for the Pixel 6a. As part of this initiative, all Pixel 6a users will receive a mandatory update to Android 16. While the tech giant has already released the next iteration of the Android operating system (OS) for its phones from the Pixel 6 to the Pixel 9 series, the Pixel 6a has not been eligible for the update. However, that is now changing, with the mandatory Android 16 update for the handset arriving this month.

On a support page, Google said that it will roll out Android 16 to the Pixel 6a as a mandatory automatic software update starting July 8. It will be introduced on handsets labelled as an “Impacted Device”. This is being done to minimise the risk of potential battery overheating that may pose a threat to the device owners.

As per the tech giant, the update will enable critical battery management features on the Pixel 6a. Following the Android 16 rollout, Google will reduce the battery capacity and charging performance of the phone once it reaches 400 charge cycles.

However, until the battery crosses this threshold, battery-related changes and the new features will remain inactive, the company said.

Pixel 6a users whose device has been labelled as impacted will receive a reminder notification once it reaches 375 charge cycles. Alongside reduced battery capacity, users may also notice changes such as reduced charging speed. Further, the battery-level indicator may also fluctuate, but this is said to be a short-term change as the phone adapts to its revised capacity.

If the Pixel 6a falls under the Battery Performance Program, users are eligible for free-of-charge repairs. If they do not wish to pursue repairs, they can also opt for a cash compensation or store hardware discount which will be applicable on their next purchase through the Google Store.

This move comes after multiple instances of Pixel 6a battery issues occurred earlier this year. In February, a Pixel 6a owner shared multiple photos of their device on social media which showed the phone’s battery as swollen and pushing the screen out of the frame. Then in May, another Pixel 6a allegedly exploded due to a swollen battery.

Tecno Spark 40 series has been launched in select global markets. The lineup includes the Spark 40, Spark 40 Pro, and. Spark 40 Pro+. The top-of-the-line Pro+ variant is said to be the world’s first smartphone to be equipped with the MediaTek Helio G200 chipset. Meanwhile, the base and Pro models age a MediaTek Helio G100 Ultimate and MediaTek Helio G81 SoCs, respectively. All three phones have an IP64 rating and feature 50-megapixel main rear cameras.

Tecno Spark 40 Pro+ price in Uganda starts at UGX 7,69,000 (roughly Rs. 18,300) for the 8GB + 128GB option. Meanwhile, the price of the Tecno Spark 40 Pro is set at UGX 679,000 (roughly Rs. 16,200) for the same RAM and storage configuration. The base Tecno Spark 40 is priced at UGX 4,79,000 (roughly Rs. 11,400) for the 4GB + 128GB variant. They are available for purchase in the country via Tecno’s online and offline stores.

The vanilla Tecno Spark 40 is sold in Ink Black, Mirage Blue, Veil White, and Titanium Grey colour options. On the other hand, the Tecno Spark 40 Pro is available in Ink Black, Bamboo Green, Lake Blue, and Moon Titanium shades. Lastly, the Tecno Spark 40 Pro+ is offered in Aurora White, Moon Titanium, Nebula Black, and Tundra Green colourways.

The Tecno Spark 40 Pro+ sports a 6.78-inch 1.5K (1,224×2,720 pixels) 3D AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate. It is powered by a MediaTek Helio G200 SoC paired with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of onboard storage. It ships with Android 15-based HiOS skin on top. 

For optics, the Tecno Spark 40 Pro+ has a 50-megapixel primary sensor at the back and a 13-megapixel sensor at the front. Connectivity options include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, FM radio, OTG, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. For security, it carries an in-display fingerprint sensor. The phone has Dolby Atmos-backed dual speakers and an IR blaster.

The Tecno Spark 40 Pro+ packs a 5,200mAh battery that supports 45W wired, 30W wireless, and 5W reverse wireless charging. The handset has an IP64 dust and splash-resistant build. It measures 163.9×75.8×6.49mm in size.

The Tecno Spark 40 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Helio G100 Ultimate chipset. It does not support wireless or reverse wireless charging. The phone also lacks an in-display fingerprint sensor. Other specifications of the handset, including the display, operating system, camera, battery, charging speed, build, and connectivity, are identical to those of the Pro+ variant. It measures 6.69mm in thickness.

Notably, both Pro models of the Tecno Spark 40 series come with support for Tecno’s FreeLink technology, which allows users to make calls without cellular connectivity.

The base Tecno Spark 40 has a 6.67-inch HD+ (720×1,600) screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. It gets a MediaTek Helio G81 chipset coupled with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of inbuilt storage. In the camera department, it features an 8-megapixel selfie shooter alongside a 50-megapixel main sensor at the back. It is equipped with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication. The phone boasts dimensions of 165.6x77x7.67mm.

Naughty Dog Head Neil Druckmann to Step Away From HBO’s The Last of Us TV Show to Focus on Games



Naughty Dog head Neil Druckmann is stepping away from creative duties at The Last of Us series on HBO to focus on the studio’s future projects. Druckmann, who helmed the first two seasons of the show alongside Craig Mazin, will transition to working on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet full-time and fulfilling his responsibilities as studio head. The second season of The Last of Us premiered in April and wrapped up its seven-episode run in May.

In a statement shared on X via Naughty Dog, Druckmann said he was stepping away from creative involvement with HBO’s The Last of Us, confirming he won’t be returning to work on the third season of the popular show. Druckmann, who has executive producing, writing and directing credits on the first two seasons of the show, said the decision to step away was “difficult”.

“I’ve made the difficult decision to step away from my creative involvement in The Last of Us on HBO. With work completed on Season 2 and before any meaningful work starts on Season 3, now is the right time for me to transition my complete focus to Naughty Dog and its future projects, including writing and directing our exciting next game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, along with my responsibilities as Studio Head and Head of Creative,” he said in the statement.

“Co-creating the show has been a career highlight. It’s been an honor to work alongside Craig Mazin to executive produce, direct, and write on the last two seasons. I’m deeply thankful for the thoughtful approach and dedication the talented cast and crew took to adapting The Last of Us Part I and the continued adaptation of The Last of Us Part II.”

In tandem with Druckmann’s decision, Haley Gross, who co-wrote The Last of Us Part 2 and served as a writer on the second season of the show, also confirmed she was taking a step back from her duties on the latter. In a statement posted to Instagram Wednesday, Gross said she was moving on to “what comes next”.

“With great care and consideration, I’ve decided to take a step back from my day-to-day work on HBO’s The Last of Us to make space for what comes next,” Gross said in the statement. “I’m so appreciative of how special this experience has been. Working alongside Neil, Craig, HBO, and this remarkable cast and crew has been life changing. The stories we told – about love, loss, and what it means to be human in a terrifying world – are exactly why I love this franchise. I have some truly rad projects ahead that I can’t wait to share, but for now, I want to express my gratitude to everyone who brought Ellie and Joel’s world to life with such care.”

HBO’s The Last of Us has been renewed for a third season, which will be based on the second half of The Last of Us Part 2, with the primary focus on Abby (played by Kaitlyn Dever), who served as the main antagonist in the second season. The show stars Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey in the lead roles of Joel and Ellie, respectively.

Naughty Dog is currently working on its next game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, which was announced at The Game Awards 2024.
