Runway Unveils Game World, an AI Platform That Lets Users Generate Video Games

Runway, a video-focused artificial intelligence (AI) startup, unveiled its new gaming-focused offering last week. Dubbed Game World, a microsite for the platform is currently live, although users will have to wait before they can play the games. As per a report, the New York-based AI firm plans to start with text and image-based gaming experience, and scale it up to a full-fledged video gaming experience later this year. The company is also said to be in talks with gaming companies to offer the technology for the game development process.

Runway Game World Takes a Stab at AI-Generated Gaming Experience

A new microsite dubbed Runway Game World has gone live, and you can find it here. The website redirects to the login page, but currently, it is not possible to log in and play games. According to The Verge, the AI startup provided early access to the platform to select journalists. Users will reportedly get access to it next week.

As per the report, the current version of the gaming experience does not have a lot of features. It is essentially a chat interface where users can play role-playing games (RPGs) with AI-generated text and images. Runway CEO Cristóbal Valenzuela told The Verge that AI-generated video games will be added later this year.

Notably, Runway has already made significant progress in the AI video generation space. In April, the company released the Gen 4 Turbo AI model that can generate a 10-second-long video in 30 seconds. Runway’s AI video technology was reportedly also used in Amazon’s show House of David.

“If we can help a studio make a movie 40 percent faster, then we’re probably gonna be able to help developers of games make games faster,” he says. “They’re waking up, and they’re moving faster than I would say the studios were moving two years ago,” Valenzuela told the publication.

Apart from this, the Runway CEO also addressed the rumours of Meta trying to acquire the startup. Valenzuela reportedly highlighted that the company plans to remain independent for now and develop its existing and new experiences for users.

X to Reportedly Use AI Agents to Write Community Notes In a Bid to Scale the Programme

X (formerly known as Twitter) is reportedly planning to use artificial intelligence (AI) to write Community Notes on the platform. As per the report, the company has asked developers to submit custom AI agents capable of verifying the authenticity of posts and providing neutral explanations about them. This will mark a big shift in the social media platform’s fact-checking programme, which so far relied on human users to write and vote for Community Notes. X is reportedly opting for AI agents to increase the scale and speed of fact-checking.

Keith Coleman, Vice President of Product at X, and the head of the Community Notes programme, told Bloomberg in an interview that the company was considering the usage of AI. For this, developers have reportedly been given the option to submit their own AI agents for review. The submitted AI agents are said to go through a run of writing practice notes, which will then be reviewed by the company.

If the company finds the AI agents to be helpful, they will be deployed to write notes on public posts of X, the report added. Notably, Bloomberg highlights that only human users will be conducting the reviews of published notes, and a note will only appear if multiple people with different viewpoints find it to be helpful. Coleman reportedly stated that AI-written Community Notes could appear later this month.

Coleman reportedly called the decision to onboard AI agents to write notes and let humans review the posts an “incredibly powerful” combination. He also hinted that once AI is involved, the number of Community Notes, which stands at hundreds per day, could significantly increase, the report said.

Notably, in 2021, the platform started a fact-checking platform called Birdwatch, where some users were selected to be contributors to fact-check public posts and verify their authenticity. Users would also vote on published notes as helpful or unhelpful. The crowdsourced programme was later rebranded to Community Notes in November 2022 after Elon Musk took over X. Ever since its inception, the service has only been managed by human users who volunteer for it.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE Name Appears in Alleged Third-Party Case Listing Alongside Galaxy Z Flip 7

Samsung will hold a Galaxy Unpacked event next week, where it is expected to launch the next-generation Galaxy Z foldables, wearables, and audio products. The South Korean tech brand is likely to also unveil the rumoured Galaxy Z Flip FE affordable clamshell foldable alongside the standard Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7. Although Samsung has not revealed any details about a new flip-style foldable phone, the ‘Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE’ moniker has appeared in a third-party phone case makers website, indicating that the phone could launch soon.

As spotted by Android Central, case maker Spigen accidentally listed the case collection for the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE.  The listings have since been taken down from the Spigen website, but the publication managed to grab a screenshot of the Google Search result for the same, revealing the monikers of upcoming flip-style foldable phones. The listing strongly suggests that both Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE models could debut at next week’s Galaxy Unpacked launch event.

Samsung is believed to launch the Fan Edition model of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 with slightly lower hardware specifications and an affordable price tag. It could cost below EUR 1,000 (roughly Rs. 92,000) in Europe and around KRW 1 million (roughly Rs. 63,400) in Korea for the base 128GB storage model.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE Specifications (Expected)

As per past leaks, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE could have a 6.7-inch main display and a 3.4-inch cover screen. It is tipped to ship with Samsung’s in-house Exynos 2500 chipset. The phone is likely to feature two outward-facing cameras, including a 12-megapixel primary camera and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor.

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is said to pack a 3,700mAh battery and could feature a 10-megapixel front camera.

Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event is set to take place on July 9 in New York. It will be livestreamed at 10:00am ET (7:30 pm IST) on YouTube and Samsung’s official social media platforms. The company is expected to launch new Galaxy Watch models and an audio lineup during the event alongside the new foldables. The upcoming Galaxy devices are also available for pre-reservations in India.

Threads Rolls Out DMs With Message Controls, Inbox Filters for Users Aged 18 and Above

Threads has finally rolled out direct messages (DMs) on its platform, allowing users to communicate one-on-one without leaving the app. As per Instagram head Adam Mosseri, the feature has been a “top request” from users since the launch of Threads in 2023. It arrives with several options, including messaging controls, inbox filtering, and group messaging. Further, the Meta-owned microblogging platform has also introduced Threads Highlighter as a feature to mark Trending topics.

Sending DMs on Threads

Launched in 2023, Threads arrived as a microblogging competitor to X (formerly Twitter) following Elon Musk’s takeover, but it did not have DM capabilities. However, that is changing now. As per Meta’s blog post, one-on-one messaging on Threads is now available on the microblogging platform but within limits. The company first began testing this feature last month and it has been widely expanded.

DMs are initially available between Threads followers or mutuals from Instagram, aged 18 and above. They are protected by Meta’s privacy standards, account protection measures, and the safety infrastructure. The company will also expand the DMs feature with more capabilities soon, the first of which is message controls.

With this feature, users can control who sends them messages on the microblogging platform. They can allow DMs from people who don’t follow them on Threads or Instagram, and receive such requests in a separate message requests folder. Additionally, group messaging will also be available. This will allow multiple Threads users to join a conversation simultaneously, explains Meta.

The last feature is inbox features which, as the name suggests, may enable users to apply filters based on certain parameters on the inbox in order to find the specific message they’re looking for.

DMs on Threads will be available via an envelope icon in the bottom tray, as per the company. The accompanying image suggests that its user interface (UI) will be identical to the DMs list on Instagram.

In addition to DMs, Threads is also introducing Threads Highlighter as a new UI element. It is said to highlight “unique perspectives that lead to thoughtful conversations”, says Meta. This feature will be visible in important parts of the app to help users discover content. Further, Threads will also mark Trending topics with Highlighter, and its placement will be expanded soon.

Lumio Arc 5, Arc 7 Projectors Powered by Google TV to Launch in India on July 7

Lumio recently forayed into India’s smart TV market and has now once again teased the upcoming launch of its new product category, which is projectors. Founded by Flipkart and Xiaomi veterans, the home-grown consumer technology startup is gearing up to launch two projectors in India — the Lumio Arc 5 and Lumio Arc 7. While specifics remain under wraps, they are expected to arrive as a portable projection device and may carry an aggressive price tag.

Lumio Arc 5, Arc 7 India Launch Date

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Lumio announced that Arc 5 and Arc 7 projectors will be launched in India on July 7. The accompanying teaser images give us the first glimpse of both projectors. The Lumio Arc 7 appears to be the top-end model in the Arc lineup, with a considerably large form factor which resembles a PC cabinet. Meanwhile, the Lumio Arc 5 may be a more compact projector which offers portability. Both projectors are seen in a single black colour option.

The Lumio Arc 5 and Arc 7 seem to have a built-in stand, dubbed ‘understand’, at the bottom for adjusting the angle. The box design also confirms that the Lumio Arc projectors will be powered by Google TV, same as the Lumio Vision 7 and Vision 9 4K smart TVs.

Lumio Vision TVs were launched in India in April with features that address customers’ pain points. This includes memory capacity, app loading time, app installation time, boot-up time, and scroll time. The start-up aimed to fix these issues with a proprietary ‘Boss’ processor along with 3GB of DDR4 RAM.

However, it is yet to be determined if the Lumio Arc projectors will also debut with similar ambitions. The Arc 5 and Arc 7 are also expected to debut with support for the Google Assistant, which may be accessible via voice-based commands.

The Lumio Arc 5 and Arc 7 projectors are said to offer support for up to 100-inch projection. They will come with official support for Netflix, Prime Video, and YouTube. Lumio is also expected to bring the TLDR app to the Arc 5 and Arc 7, providing easy access to sports and music content.
