Bitcoin Nears $101,000 While Altcoin Prices Decline Amid Rising Geopolitical Tensions

The crypto market is undergoing a period of volatility amid rising global tensions. Bitcoin on Monday, June 23, reflected a price dip of over one percent to trade at $101,270 (roughly Rs. 87.8 lakh) on international exchanges. On Indian exchanges, Bitcoin’s price dropped by about one percent bringing its value to $104,000 (roughly Rs. 90.9 lakh). The dominance of Bitcoin over the crypto market presently stands at 64.9 percent.

Bitcoin fell amid rising global tensions. As Crude oil price opened up higher on Monday, it will be interesting to see the development from Iran’s side if they escalate the current situation. With a feared closing of the Strait of Hormuz by Iran, BTC can fall further down to around $98,000 (roughly Rs. 85 lakh),” the CoinSwitch Markets Desk told Gadgets 360.

Ether value fell by 2.15 percent on international exchanges. At the time of writing, ETH was trading at $2,234 (roughly Rs. 1.93 lakh) on CoinMarketCap. On Indian exchanges, the value of ETH tumbled by under two percent to reach $2,330 (roughly Rs. 2.02 lakh).

“The sharper fall in Ethereum signals a risk-off approach from market participants amid global macro uncertainties and tightening liquidity. This phase highlights that institutional and retail capital is gravitating towards assets with stronger fundamentals and higher liquidity,” said Avinash Shekhar, Co-Founder and CEO, Pi42.

The crypto price tracker by Gadgets 360 shows most altcoins trading in the reds on Monday.

These include Tether, Binance Coin, Solana, Dogecoin, Cardano, and Chainlink.

“Market structure shows a short-term downtrend with lower highs and lows; possible bear flag forming. Altcoins, especially small caps and AI tokens, dropped 17–20 percent this week. Volatility expected to persist due to geopolitical tensions and market fragility,” Riya Sehgal, Research Analyst, Delta Exchange told Gadgets 360.

Stellar, Avalanche, Shiba Inu, Litecoin, Monero, Uniswap, and Cronos also clocked losses alongside BTC and ETH on Monday.

The overall crypto market cap slipped by 1.35 percent in the last 24 hours on international exchanges. Data by CoinMarketCap shows that the present crypto market valuation stands at $3.11 trillion (roughly Rs. 26997085 crore).

“On-chain data shows long-term holders stepping in while short-term sellers retreat. Historically, this kind of shift tends to happen near market bottoms, indicating a trend reversal in the market,” Edul Patel, Co-founder and CEO of Mudrex told Gadgets 360.

Meanwhile, Leo, Polygon, Iota, and Braintrust managed to retain miniscule gains on the price charts.

“Altcoins and memecoins are bleeding, while even DOGE and XRP hit 2-month lows. Yet amid the chaos, states like Texas push strategic BTC reserves, and JPMorgan pilots on-chain settlement. Long-term conviction is tested, but disciplined accumulation during panic often sows the seeds of future wealth,” said Himanshu Maradiya, Founder and Chairman of the CIFDAQ exchange, advising investors to do their due diligence before investing.

Apple’s 20th Anniversary iPhone to Debut in 2027 With Under-Display Camera, Face ID: Report

Apple’s iPhone 17 series of smartphones is expected to arrive later this year, with a new design for the rear panel, as per recent leaks. According to details shared in Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman in his latest Power On newsletter, the company is working on a redesigned version of the smartphone that will be unveiled in 2027, the iPhone’s 20th anniversary. While the company’s existing models feature a Dynamic Island, Apple is expected to move the selfie camera and Face ID sensors under the screen within the next couple of years.

Apple’s Two-Step Approach to an iPhone Without a Dynamic Island

In his newsletter, Gurman writes that Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 series will appear similar to the iPhone 16 series, but only from the front. Recent reports suggest that the company will equip the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro with a redesigned rear camera layout, while the standard iPhone 17 is expected to feature the same design as the current model.

Next year, Apple will introduce the successors to the iPhone 17 lineup (presumably the Phone 18) with a Dynamic Island that is slimmer than the one on its current smartphone models, according to the journalist. A recent report have suggested that Apple will shift its Face ID sensors under the display, and the selfie camera could be located in a hole-punch display cutout.

Gurman previously claimed that Apple would equip its 20th anniversary iPhone with an all-screen design, and a curved glass display. He also said that the company’s 2027 iPhone models will expand on the new Liquid Glass UI and design language that will arrive with the iOS 26 and macOS 26 updates later this year.

As of now, it appears that this all-screen design for the 2027 iPhone models will be limited to the Pro models. Apple wouldn’t be the first OEM to introduce a smartphone with an all-screen display, Nubia has released multiple models in recent years with under-display cameras.

However, it’s best to take these claims with a grain of salt, as there’s no word from Apple on plans to launch a redesigned version of its smartphones in the coming years. The company doesn’t typically announce new hardware features until they are ready to launch, so we might only learn more about this handset in the months leading up to its debut.

Perplexity Bot on X Gets AI-Powered Video Generation Capability, Available to All Users

Perplexity upgraded its artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot on X (formerly known as Twitter) last week. Dubbed Ask Perplexity, the AI bot can now generate videos based on user prompts. While the company did not reveal which large language model (LLM) was being used to generate these videos, it did highlight that guardrails were set to ensure synthetic videos of people with a likeness to real-world celebrities and public figures were not generated. Currently, the feature is available to all X users when they tag the chatbot in their posts or first-level comments.

Ask Perplexity Can Now Generate AI Videos

In a post on X, the official handle of Perplexity’s AI bot confirmed that it now has video generation capability. Interestingly, it is the first and only chatbot on the platform that is offering this feature. Even Grok, which was built by Elon Musk’s xAI team, does not have this capability.

Currently, Ask Perplexity can generate eight-second-long videos based on either just a text prompt or an image input alongside a text prompt. The output can contain native audio, and the chatbot can be instructed to add dialogues to multiple speakers. As mentioned above, the AI firm did not mention the AI model it is using for this feature, but based on the description, it is likely using Google’s Veo 3 model. It is not possible to say so with certainty, however.

Once the announcement was made, X users began testing out the feature with a myriad of imaginative and hilarious prompts. Gadgets 360 staff members came across several posts where users asked the AI bot to generate a video with a real-life celebrity or public figure; however, the end output only featured a character that vaguely resembled the real person. However, since users can generate videos using image prompts, it is not certain whether Perplexity will fulfil those requests or not.

A day later, the chatbot posted, “I’ve read through your video request DMs. Some of y’all need help. Not AI therapist help. Real help.” making a tongue-in-cheek comment about the extreme nature of video generation requests, and likely indicating that such requests will not be fulfilled.
