MS Dhoni Loses Cool After CSK Youngster’s Error Gives SRH An Extra Run. Watch

Chennai Super Kings are on the brink of elimination from the playoffs race in IPL 2025. With seven losses out of nine, the five-match time champions are facing the worst time of their life. On Friday, they suffered a shocking five-wicket defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad at their own fortress, Chepauk. Apart from being on the losing side, the match also had an intense moment after CSK skipper MS Dhoni gave a taunting response to Shaik Rashdeed as the 20-year-old’s fielding error handed SRH an extra run.

The incident took place in the 8th over, when SRH Ishan Kishan played a shot on a full delivery from Sam Curran. Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen comfortably completed a single. Later, Rasheed came rushing from the extra cover and threw the ball towards the non-striker’s end but it missed the stumps and went away as there was no player for the backup.

As the ball went away, Ishan and Klaasen quickly took another run. Seeing this fielding error, Dhoni looked at Rasheed and made a gesture towards him to use his brain.

It was a forgettable day for the young opener Rasheed as he was dismissed for a golden duck by Mohammed Shami. Later, this fielding blunder also rubbed salt on his wounds but he would surely look to bounce back in the upcoming games.

Talking about the match, Harshal Patel bagged a four-fer as SRH bowled CSK out for 154, before Ishan Kishan, Kamindu Mendis and Nitish Kumar Reddy played handy cameos to see their side through with eight balls to spare.

With his defeat, CSK almost bowed out of the play-offs race even as SRH stayed alive theoretically. CSK remained bottom of the points table while SRH jumped a place to rise to the eighth spot. This was SRH’s first win at the Chepauk against CSK.

“We kept losing wickets, and in the first innings the wicket was slightly better and 155 is not a justifiable score, because it wasn’t turning a lot. Yes, after the 8-10th over, it became slightly two-paced when it comes to the fast bowlers, but nothing that was out of the ordinary, I feel we could have put few more runs on the board. Yes, second innings there was a bit of help, our spinners the quality was there and they bowled in the right areas and it was stopping a bit but we were short by 15-20 runs,” said CSK skipper Dhoni after the loss.

Trump Warns Putin Over Ukraine

Washington:

US President Donald Trump on Saturday criticised Russian President Vladimir Putin for attacks on civilian areas of Ukraine in recent days, and said, “Maybe he doesn’t want to stop the war.”

In a post on Truth Social after his talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Rome, Trump also said maybe Putin “has to be dealt with differently,” possibly through additional sanctions targeting Moscow.

“There was no reason for Putin to be shooting missiles into civilian areas, cities and towns, over the last few days,” Trump said in the post.

“It makes me think that maybe he doesn’t want to stop the war, he’s just tapping me along, and has to be dealt with differently, through ‘Banking’ or ‘Secondary Sanctions?’ Too many people are dying!!!”

Putin told US envoy Steve Witkoff at a Friday meeting in Moscow that he was ready for talks with Ukraine “without preconditions,” the Kremlin said Saturday.

Russia ready for Ukraine talks without preconditions, says Putin

Russia ready for Ukraine talks without preconditions, says Putin

Russia is ready to hold peace talks with Ukraine “without preconditions”, President Vladimir Putin said on Saturday. This came after US President Donald Trump lashed out at Putin saying “maybe he doesn’t want to stop the war.”
“During yesterday’s talks with Trump’s envoy Witkoff, Vladimir Putin reiterated that Russia is ready to resume negotiations with Ukraine without any preconditions,” Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said. He added that Putin had repeated the same several times in the past.
Meanwhile, Russia confirmed that all Ukrainian troops have been forced out of parts of Kursk region. “The complete defeat of our enemy along Kursk’s border region creates the right conditions for further successes for our troops and in other important areas of the front,” Putin said.
However, Ukrainian officials denied any such development saying, “The statements of representatives of the high command of the aggressor country about the alleged end of hostilities in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation are not true.”
“The defensive operation of the Ukrainian Defense Forces in certain areas in the Kursk region continues. The operational situation is difficult, but our units continue to hold designated positions and carry out assigned tasks, while inflicting effective fire damage on the enemy with all types of weapons, including using active defense tactics,” it added.
The development came as Trump and Zelenskyy met in Vatican City during the pope’s funeral to explore the possibility of a ceasefire agreement. During the meeting, both leaders held a constructive discussion on critical steps toward achieving peace, a source told The Associated Press, adding that both sides expressed willingness to act swiftly.

Minister Piyush Goyal On J&K Attack

Mumbai:

Union minister Piyush Goyal has said that terror attacks like the one in Pahalgam would continue to disturb the nation as long as all 140 crore Indians don’t regard patriotism and nationalism as their “paramount dharma”.

He emphasised that such acts would never break India’s spirit.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Mr Goyal asserted that the conviction of the people would ensure the resumption of tourism in Kashmir soon, and pilgrims will continue their Amarnath Yatra.

He said India’s rising global stature was troubling certain forces.

“These incidents represent the desperate last efforts of those powers. It is an unbearable attack, but we will not spare anyone,” the Union Commerce Minister added.

“As long as 140 crore Indians do not consider patriotism and nationalism as their supreme duty, such unfortunate incidents will continue to trouble the country. I believe that the power of India, which is emerging globally, is causing some discomfort to certain individuals,” the Minister said.

Highlighting India’s success in countering internal threats, Mr Goyal said, “Just as we are rapidly eliminating naxalism, we will similarly defeat terrorism. India’s strength and determination are unshakable.”

When asked about Pakistani nationals overstaying their visas in India, Mr Goyal said, “We have already announced and informed them to leave the country. No one will be allowed to stay here illegally.”

Addressing concerns that the attack might affect tourism in Kashmir, Mr Goyal added, “The people of Bharat have the power, courage, and confidence. Tourism will resume soon, pilgrims will continue their Amarnath Yatra, and Kashmir will remain firmly on the path of progress. No one can stop it.”

Twenty-six persons, mostly tourists, were killed when terrorists sprayed bullets on them at a popular meadow in Pahalgam in Kashmir on April 22.

Amid the anguish and anger over the brutal killings, India announced a slew of diplomatic measures, including suspending the Indus Water Treaty, against Pakistan.

‘Maybe Putin doesn’t want to stop war,’ says Trump after meet with Zelenskyy

Secret Trump-Zelensky Meeting At Pope Francis' Funeral? Full Details Inside

After meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Rome, US President Donald Trump took to Truth Social on Saturday to criticise Russian President Vladimir Putin for recent attacks on civilian areas in Ukraine.
“There was no reason for Putin to be shooting missiles into civilian areas, cities and towns, over the last few days,” Trump wrote. “It makes me think that maybe he doesn’t want to stop the war, he’s just tapping me along, and has to be dealt with differently, through ‘Banking’ or ‘Secondary Sanctions?’ Too many people are dying!!!”
Trump further suggested that Putin “has to be dealt with differently,” potentially by imposing additional sanctions targeting Moscow.
Meanwhile, the Kremlin said Saturday that during a meeting with US envoy Steve Witkoff in Moscow on Friday, Putin expressed his willingness to engage in talks with Ukraine “without preconditions.”
Earlier on Saturday, Trump and Zelenskyy met privately in Rome just ahead of the funeral of Pope Francis.
The brief encounter marked the first in-person meeting between the two leaders since their contentious Oval Office discussion in February.
The two leaders will meet for a second time later in the day, said Ukrainian spokesperson Serhii Nykyforov. White House communications director Steven Cheung characterised the meeting as “very productive”, noting that further details would be provided in due course.
Trump has been actively pressing for a ceasefire, reportedly proposing a deal that would see the US formally recognise Russia’s occupation of Crimea and tacitly accept Moscow’s control over other territories in eastern and southern Ukraine.
This proposal has been met with resistance from Kyiv and its European allies, who insist that any territorial questions should be addressed only after a complete ceasefire and should be based on the existing line of control.
They are also pushing for robust security guarantees for Ukraine as part of any agreement. Saturday’s meeting was brief – lasting only several minutes – as both leaders, along with other dignitaries such as French President Emmanuel Macron, joined the funeral ceremony at the Vatican.

Who’s that IPL player?
Gill also opened up about handling crowd chants linking him to various celebrities during matches. He revealed that once he steps onto the field, he is so deeply focused that he barely registers the noise from the stands.

How often do you think athletes should address rumors about their personal lives?

“When you’re batting, you don’t hear those chants. You’re completely zoned in — thinking about gaps, bowlers, next shots,” he explained. “But while fielding, especially near the boundary, you do hear them sometimes.”

Gill’s straightforward comments have once again highlighted his commitment to his craft, as he continues to be one of India’s most promising young stars both in international cricket and the IPL.

J&K villagers in border areas prepare ‘Modi bunkers’ as tensions rise along LoC after Pahalgam terror attack | India News

J&K villagers in border areas prepare 'Modi bunkers' as tensions rise along LoC after Pahalgam terror attack

NEW DELHI: In the remote border villages of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir, life has once again taken a cautious turn. Following the terror attack in Pahalgam which killed 26 and sent shockwaves across the Union territory, residents living along the Line of Control (LoC) have begun cleaning and preparing their underground bunkers — a stark reminder of the volatility that once defined daily life here.
The bunkers, popularly known as “Modi bunkers” are being stacked with essentials like blankets and bedding, with villagers bracing for the worst.

What are ‘Modi bunkers’?

“Modi bunker” is an informal term used to describe the underground bunkers constructed along the Line of Control (LoC) to protect civilians from cross-border shelling. These bunkers, built in large numbers during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s second tenure, were part of a major government initiative to enhance the safety of residents living near conflict-prone border areas.
In the past, the government has extended financial aid and technical assistance for building individual and community bunkers in high-risk areas like Poonch and Rajouri.
In 2021, around 8,000 underground bunkers were built along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB) in Jammu province, officials said. The Centre had initially sanctioned 14,460 bunkers across five districts — Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Poonch, and Rajouri — with an additional 4,000 later approved to cover more vulnerable populations.

‘People had forgotten the bunkers’

Speaking to ANI, a Karmarha village resident said, “The people had forgotten the bunkers. The bunkers are being cleaned again now. There is an atmosphere of fear, but we hope harmony will prevail in the valley.”
Extending support for the government, another resident said, “We are with the government, we stand by them. We strongly condemn the terror attack, we are in support of our army and administration. Whenever they need us, we are ready to provide any possible support, even lay down our lives.”
“Earlier, there used to be firing incidents in this area. Our village is located near the LoC. We are cleaning the bunkers so that we can move our family to safety during such incidents. We are thankful to the central government for providing us with such bunkers,” he added.
The Pahalgam incident, which resulted in the deaths of both security personnel and civilians, has raised fears about increased cross-border infiltration and the possibility of renewed tensions along vulnerable areas of the border.

Ravi Shastri issues warning for Vaibhav Suryavanshi: ‘There will be failures’ | Cricket News

Ravi Shastri issues warning for Vaibhav Suryavanshi: 'There will be failures'
Ravi Shastri and Vaibhav Suryavanshi

NEW DELHI: Former India coach Ravi Shastri has heaped praise on a new wave of IPL batting talents, identifying four young players he believes are destined for international cricket, while also offering a note of caution for a teenage prodigy making headlines.
Speaking on The ICC Review, Shastri revealed he has been blown away by the fearless performances of Chennai Super KingsAyush Mhatre, Rajasthan RoyalsVaibhav Suryavanshi, and Punjab Kings’ opening pair Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh.

“The two Punjab openers (Arya and Singh) as well, they give it a smack,” Shastri said. “It’s as if these youngsters, 14 years, 17 years of age, come in and see it, hit it in the first six overs.”
Who’s that IPL player?
Arya, 23, has been particularly explosive, scoring 254 runs from eight innings at a jaw-dropping strike rate of 201.58, including a stunning century against CSK. Meanwhile, 17-year-old Mhatre has impressed with his fearless strokeplay, smashing 32 off just 15 balls against a star-studded Mumbai Indians line-up.
“The shots Ayush Mhatre played against the Mumbai Indians were unbelievable,” Shastri marvelled. “For a 17-year-old to come out and express himself that way, he caught everyone’s eye. If he’s handled properly and surrounded by the right people, he can go a long way.”

Should selectors prioritize in-form players for the national team?

Shastri also highlighted 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who struck a whirlwind 34 off 20 balls, including a six off his very first delivery in the IPL. But while he praised Suryavanshi’s audacity, he also urged caution.
“The first shot he played would have taken everyone’s breath away,” Shastri said. “But he’s young. There will be failures. It’s about how he handles them.”

Sachin Tendulkar at 52: Power, Pride, and a Nation’s Pulse

Shastri warned that Suryavanshi’s early success will attract tougher challenges. “People will come up with new things. Lots of short stuff will be thrown at him. When you tonk someone’s first ball for six, there’s no mercy. He’ll have to get used to that.”
The former India coach noted the depth in India’s white-ball talent pool, but urged selectors to seize the moment with in-form players.
“If you think someone is hot and ticking most boxes, pick him,” Shastri stressed. “Don’t wait for next season. Strike while the iron is hot.”
