A moment between Virat Kohli and Dinesh Karthik was caught by the cameras during the match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2025 on Thursday that went viral on the internet. As per the visual, it appeared that RCB batting coach Karthik and head coach Andy Flower had suggested something to Kohli, who was fielding at the long-on boundary. However, Kohli appeared to reject the suggestion, folding his hands in response. The image has gone viral on social media.

What exactly the conversation between Kohli and Karthik was is unknown. However, Karthik later lavished praise on Kohli after RCB had sneaked an 11-run victory over RR. Kohli had smashed 70 runs off just 42 balls earlier in the day.

Here is what Karthik had to say about Kohli, speaking after the game in the RCB dressing room.

“There is a loss for words. Purely the hunger that he has. It’s one thing to play in the IPL for 18 years, But it’s a different thing to be consistent for that long. This tells you a lot about the man. And he’s very determined. In the first three games in Bengaluru, he told me two things. One was that he could have probably thought a little better and next, even the fans – the way he looks at it – he knows that a lot of people turn up just to watch him bat.”

“So you can see that even though he did not say it explicitly, he felt that. And if that man puts his mind to something, the way he adapts, understands situations, I am too small a person to even speak about him. He is an absolute champion. Just the way he guided Dev (Devdutt Padikkal) along the way, making sure he took (Phil) Salt along at the start. His body language and commitment to a cause is outstanding.”

Kohli and Padikkal (50 off 27) stitched a partnership of 95 runs that helped RCB post a total of 205 in 20 overs. In response, RR appeared well on track and needed only 18 runs off just 12 balls. However, an excellent penultimate over by Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood, where he took two wickets, turned the game in RCB’s favour.

It was RCB’s first home win of the season, having previously lost three at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. RCB leapt up to third in the IPL 2025 points table with the victory.

Commemorated both in Israel and in Jewish communities around the world, this year’s Holocaust Remembrance Day started with a ceremony on Wednesday evening at Yad Vashem, the world’s most well-known Holocaust museum in Jerusalem.
The ceremony took place amid the ongoing war in Gaza, and with the political situation in Israel threatening to escalate into an unprecedented constitutional crisis. Israeli officials, ambassadors and Holocaust survivors were in attendance.
The rest of the world observes International Holocaust Remembrance Day on January 27, the date when the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration and extermination camp was liberated by the Soviet Red Army. But Israel and the Jewish diaspora have their own memorial day on the Hebrew date of Nissan 27, a date chosen due to its close proximity to the beginning of the monthlong Warsaw Ghetto Uprising in April 1943.

Similar to last year’s event, the official ceremony and speeches on Wednesday evening centered on the terrorist attacks by Palestinian militant group Hamas on October 7, 2023 which killed some 1,200 people, and the ensuing war in Gaza launched by Israel. Hamas has been designated as a terrorist organization by Israel, Germany, the US and other states.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who arrived late to the ceremony due to what his office said was a security incident, once again echoed his comparison of Hamas members to “Nazis, like Hitler,” who were responsible for the deaths of 6 million European Jews during World War II.
“They want to kill, to destroy all the Jews,” said Netanyahu. “They openly declare their intent to destroy the Jewish state, and that will not happen.”
Yad Vashem and its head, Dani Dayan, have repeatedly called for refraining from comparing the October 7 terrorist attacks to the Holocaust, in an effort not to marginalize both events.

Some of the hostages released from Hamas captivity in Gaza were also in attendance as this year’s Holocaust Remembrance Day events got underway.
Other former hostages, as well as the families of the Israelis currently held in Gaza, traveled to Poland to take part in the March of the Living, the annual event to commemorate the death marches from Auschwitz to Birkenau.
During the official ceremony in Jerusalem on Wednesday evening, Tunisia-born survivor Gad Fartouk defied protocol by shouting that the hostages should return home while lighting one of six torches in memory of Jews murdered in the Holocaust.
Fartouk, 93, the first Holocaust survivor of North African descent to light a memorial torch during the official ceremony, told Israeli outlet Ynet he felt it was “empty” not to mention the 59 hostages — some 20 of them believed to still be alive — still held by Hamas in Gaza.

US’ Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, paying homage to those who were killed in the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam this week. She said that America stands in solidarity with India in the wake of the “horrific Islamist terrorist attack that killed Hindus”.

The US spy chief extended Washington’s full support to New Delhi and told Prime Minister Modi that “We are with you and support you as you hunt down those responsible for this heinous attack.”

‘RELIGIOUSLY-MOTIVATED TERROR AND LINKS TO PAKISTAN’

Twenty-six people, including a foreign national, were shot dead by terrorists after they were asked to prove their allegiance to Islam. The targeted killings, which were religiously-motivated, have been condemned globally. Kashmiris protested throughout the Union Territory condemning terror and blaming Pakistan for it, while fellow Indians were equally infuriated over the cowardly act.

An investigation revealed that links to the terrorists who were involved in the attack emerged from Pakistan and areas under its illegal occupation. Pakistan-based The Resistance Front, a shadow outfit of the banned terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba had also claimed responsibility for the attack.

India, in a statement on Wednesday, said that a top-level meeting on security chaired by the prime minister noted “the cross-border linkages of the terrorist attack”. The statement also said that “This attack came in the wake of the successful holding of elections in the Union Territory and its steady progress towards economic growth and development.”

‘PAKISTAN WORRIED ABOUT MILITARY ACTION’

After implementing a slew of diplomatically punishing actions against Pakistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has vowed that India will hunt down terrorists and those who support them “to the ends of the world” and punish them “beyond their imagination”. Worried over a possible military offensive, Pakistan has taken measures like closing its airspace to Indian flights and is on high alert along the border regions.

Reports also suggest that Pakistan has been carrying out round-the-clock air reconnaissance missions fearing action by India.

GLOBAL CONDEMNATION

In their phone calls and social media posts, several global leaders, including US President Donald Trump, Russia’s Vladimir Putin, Israel’s Netanyahu, France’s Macron, and Italy’s Meloni have all said they support PM Modi in his efforts to punish those who are responsible for the attack.

While President Trump said he supports PM Modi’s efforts following the Pahalgam terror attack and added that the “US will stand strong with India”, Russian President Putin said, “We expect that the organisers and perpetrators of the terror attack will face a deserved punishment.” He added that “I would like to reiterate Russia’s commitment to further increasing cooperation with Indian partners in fighting terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.”

There has also been widespread condemnation from the Islamic world over the terror attack in Kashmir, with solidarity and support from Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Iran, and Jordan. In fact, PM Modi was in Saudi Arabia meeting the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman when Pak-based terrorists carried out the attack in Kashmir’s Pahalgam.

Leaders from the UK, Australia, China, Japan, Sri Lanka and several other nations also expressed their shock over the incident and sent their condolences and support to the people of India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Sri Lanka and Chennai Super Kings’ batting all-rounder Kamindu Mendis pulled off a sensational catch during the side’s IPL 2025 match vs Sunrisers Hyderabad at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on Friday. CSK batter Dewald Brevis smashed a powerful flat shot down the ground at long-off where Mendis was stationed. It was a half-volley from SRH pacer Harshal Patel and Brevis had slammed it really hard. The ball was curving away from Mendis but the ambidextrous jumped to his left to take a superb catch. “Catch of IPL,” said former India captain Ravi Shastri on-air. Meanwhile, his fellow commentator Ian Bishop, a former West Indies player said, “Which is his weak side we never know.” Even SRH CEO and co-owner Kavya Maran was also left impressed with the catch.

Only a catch like that could’ve stopped that cameo from Brevis!

SRH captain Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bowl first against CSK in their IPL 2025 clash at Chepauk.

MS Dhoni’s struggling CSK, sitting at the bottom with just two wins in eight matches, is taking on SRH, placed at an equally poor position at number nine, with six losses in their eight matches. The loser will have to settle for the wooden spoon and an increased risk of elimination. Both teams have won just one match in their last five games.

During the toss, SRH skipper Cummins said, “We are going to have a bowl first. Chennai is always a big game, coming off a couple of losses, but it is a new venue and the boys are up for it. If the wicket is good, backing them to get a big total and otherwise also, backing them to do well. The pitch looks a little bit dry.”

CSK skipper Dhoni said, “Dew was the main reason why we also wanted to bowl first. In almost all the departments, when you are not playing good cricket, chances are there will be pressure on the other guys as well. We want to get the process right and that is what we are looking to aim for the rest of the games. We are looking at one game at a time and we are looking at a few combinations and have confidence in your ability and execute what you want to. We are not too sure how the wicket is. The recent interview with US President Donald Trump by TIME magazine has caused debate regarding the Crimean peninsula, which was annexed by Russia in 2014. Trump stated that “Crimea will stay with Russia” as part of potential peace negotiations with Ukraine, adding that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky understands this reality. 

The Crimean peninsula has been a point of contention between Ukraine and Russia for years, with Russia annexing the region in 2014. Trump’s comments suggest that he believes Crimea’s fate is already sealed, with Russia maintaining control over the region. He pointed out that the people of Crimea largely speak Russian, implying that this demographic factor contributes to the region’s ties with Russia. However, he also took a swipe at his predecessor, Barack Obama, saying, “But this was given by Obama. This wasn’t given by Trump.”

Zelensky has consistently maintained that recognising occupied territory as Russian is a red line for Ukraine, and Trump’s comments may be seen as an attempt to push Ukraine towards negotiations.

In contrast to his comments on Crimea, Trump has also criticised Russian President Vladimir Putin for continuing to assault Ukraine. In a statement, Trump said, “I am not happy with the Russian strikes on KYIV. Not necessary, and very bad timing. Vladimir, STOP! 5000 soldiers a week are dying. Let’s get the Peace Deal DONE!”

In response, Zelensky pointed out on Thursday that Ukraine had accepted a US ceasefire proposal 44 days ago as the first step toward peace talks, but Russian attacks have continued.

Trump also said that Ukraine will never join NATO and added, “From day one, that’s what caused the war to start—talks of NATO membership”.

Speaking to reporters Friday as he left the White House to attend the funeral of Pope Francis in Rome, Trump said there is no deadline for the conclusion of peace talks.

“I just want to do it as fast as possible,” Trump said. Negotiators are “pretty close” to a deal, he said.

New Delhi:

Days after the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, the website of the Army College of Nursing has been hacked, allegedly by a Pakistan-based hacker group called Team Insane PK.

The hackers’ attack comes two days after India announced a series of measures against Pakistan, including the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty and declaring the defence advisors in the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi “persona non grata”. India upped the ante on Thursday, announcing that Pakistani visas were being revoked – barring long-term visas issued to Hindu Pakistani nationals – and gave most Pakistanis 72 hours to leave the country. 

Pakistan responded with its own measures – some of them tit-for-tat. It said that it “shall exercise the right” to put all bilateral agreements – including the key Simla Agreement – on hold and announced it was closing its airspace for Indian airlines. 

On Friday, the hackers left an inflammatory message on the Army College of Nursing’s website, speaking, among other things, about the two-nation theory.

Army sources said the Army College of Nursing is an autonomous institution administered by the Army Welfare Education Society and will have to seek the help of the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), which is the national nodal agency for responding to computer security incidents.

Earlier Cyber Attacks

Team Insane PK is believed to have been behind distributed denial of service (DDoS) and other types of cyber attacks on Indian government and other websites, including those of companies and educational institutes.

They had also targeted government websites ahead of the 2023 G20 summit in India.

What made them gain notoriety, however, was a cyber attack in 2024 on the popular chain Burger Singh after it issued a promo code “FPak20”. The hackers changed portions of the chain’s website and also put up a digital graffiti wall.

The chain responded, “The backstory to this cyber saga? Well, it turns out, that a cheeky promo code we once thought was a good idea (“Fpak20,” ring any bells?) landed better than we expected. In retrospect, offering discounts with geopolitical flair is a gift that keeps giving.”

It also decided to keep the digital graffiti for a day, calling it an “open mic night for hackers”.

“As for our feelings towards the hackers, let’s just say we’re not losing sleep over it. We’re too busy dreaming up the next big thing that’ll make Burger Singh more legendary than the GDP of some countries (no names mentioned, of course). Our focus? Moving forward, burgers in hand, always,” Burger Singh said in a social media post.

Jennifer Nathaniel, the wife of Sushil Nathaniel, who was killed in the horrific terror attack at Baisaran near Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, shared a heart-wrenching account of the moments leading up to the brutal killing of her husband.

Speaking to the media in Indore, Jennifer revealed how the couple initially managed to narrowly escape, only to be caught by terrorists, who appeared to be targeting people based on their religion.

“We were about to return from there when my husband told me he needed to use the washroom… When he came out of the washroom, suddenly a loud sound came and we thought it was the ropeway breakage but when we turned around, we saw the first man who was shot. A girl was crying and asking to be killed.

“Everyone started running and hiding here and there. We hid behind the washroom… All of us started trying to run but the terrorists found us… We were not able to contact each other via phone… The terrorists asked my husband to recite Kalma, so he said he don’t know,” she said, implying that he was killed moments later.

Meanwhile, the mortal remains of Sushil Nathaniel were buried in a Christian cemetery in Indore on Thursday.

Nathaniel’s body arrived in the city late Wednesday night, where it was received by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who paid his respects at the airport.

On Thursday morning, people gathered at Nathaniel’s residence located in Veena Nagar in the city and offered their last respects to him. Thereafter, the body was taken to the church in the Nanda Nagar area, where the family and other people performed prayers and other rituals. Later on, the body was buried in a Christian cemetery in the city.

Sushil Nathaniel, who worked as a branch manager for LIC, had travelled to Jammu and Kashmir with his wife Jennifer, daughter Akanksha (around 30), and son Austin (around 22) on Saturday, April 19. His daughter, Akanksha, also sustained bullet injuries during the attack.
