Virat Kohli Unhappy With Rajat Patidar? Animated Dinesh Karthik Discussion Fuels Speculations

Royal Challengers Bengaluru couldn’t bring down the high-flying Delhi Capitals on Thursday, incurring a 6-wicket defeat at home in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash. RCB started off well while defending a score of 163 against DC, dismissing their top three batters for just 30 runs. But KL Rahul then took charge and slammed an unbeaten 93 to take his team home, on the ground where he grew up as a budding cricketer. As Rahul began to accelerate in the latter stages of the game, RCB star Virat Kohli was spotted indulging in an animated discussion with coach Dinesh Karthik. The video has triggered speculations over Kohli being unhappy with skipper Rajat Patidar.

In the video, Kohli could be seen highlighting some decisions in the middle that he wasn’t happy with. As the incident was played on Live TV, commentators Aakash Chopra and Virender Sehwag pointed out that whatever Virat is unhappy with, needs to be communicated to skipper Patidar as he isn’t the captain of the team anymore.

Some other fans also pointed out how Kohli spoke to Karthik and even veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar about certain decisions which were taken on the field. The exact reason behind Kohli’s animated chat with Karthik, however, remains unclear.

KL Rahul was the difference-maker in the game, as DC continued their unbeaten run in the 18th edition of the T20 league, reaching the target of 164 runs with 2.1 overs to spare.

After the game, Patidar put the blame of the defeat against Delhi on the team’s batters.

“I think the way we saw the wicket, it was quite different. We thought it was a nice batting wicket, but we didn’t bat well. I don’t think so (if the batters were overconfident), every batter was in a good frame of mind, showing proper intent. But it wasn’t acceptable to go from 80 for 1 to 90 for 4, we have a good batting line-up, but we need to assess the situation. That has been positive, the way Tim David accelerated was amazing, the bowling in the powerplay was special. We aren’t thinking about our away record, but we just need to play good cricket and keep it simple,” Patidar said after the game.

Courtesy of the defeat, RCB are placed third in the points table while DC hold the numero uno spot.

PM Modi’s 2011 Post On Tahawwur Rana Goes Viral After His Extradition

New Delhi:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 14-year-old post on X on Tahawwur Rana, accused of plotting the 26/11 terror attacks, has gone viral as the latter was extradited from the US and reached Delhi on Thursday evening. PM Modi, in his 2011 post, had criticised the previous Congress-led government’s foreign policy after the US “disgraced the sovereignty of India” by declaring Rana “innocent”.

In 2011, a US court had cleared Rana of a direct role in helping plot the attacks that killed 166 people, but convicted him for supporting a terrorist group blamed for the attacks.

“US declaring Tahawwur Rana innocent in Mumbai attack has disgraced the sovereignty of India & it is a “major foreign policy setback”,” PM Modi’s post read.

Social media users shared the post and praised PM Modi for successfully extraditing Rana to India to face the law.

“A leader who walks the talk. Captain my captain,” one user wrote.

Another said, “You did it sir!! Kudos and thank you!”

Many users echoed the term “Modi hai toh mumkin hai” (If there’s PM Modi, everything is possible) on the post.

During PM Modi’s visit to the US in February this year, President Donald Trump had confirmed the extradition of Rana to India.

A special flight carrying Rana landed in Delhi last evening, soon after he exhausted all legal avenues to stop his extradition. He was sent to the custody of the anti-terror National Investigation Agency (NIA) for 18 days.

Rana, a Canadian national of Pakistani origin, had earlier worked as a doctor for the Pakistan Army. He is facing charges for his role in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks in which over 160 people died. According to officials, he was aware of the terror attack and was in contact with the terrorist groups and their leaders in Pakistan.

Rana’s involvement in the conspiracy behind the 26/11 attacks was revealed by his childhood friend and a key accused in the case, David Coleman Headley – who said he was in constant touch with Rana and even took his permission to open a business office in Mumbai as a front for his activities. During interrogation, Headley had revealed that he had travelled to India five times between 2007 and 2008 and done recce for the Mumbai attacks – using a five-year visa that Rana had helped him obtain. He also revealed the role of terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in the Mumbai attacks and said he had opened an immigration company to hide his identity with Rana’s help.

Rana had also visited Mumbai with his wife and stayed at the Taj Mahal Hotel, which became a target of the attacks.

In 2013, Rana was sentenced to 14 years in jail but was released in 2020 on health grounds. He was re-arrested later that year after India’s extradition request.

“That Is Not Acceptable”: Fuming RCB Captain Rajat Patidar Puts Blame Of DC Defeat On…

Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Rajat Patidar was not amused with the way his batters threw away their wickets in a heap when thing were cruise control, saying this was “not acceptable” following a six-wicket home loss to the Delhi Capitals on Thursday. Spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Vipraj Nigam bowled with purpose while KL Rahul struck an unbeaten 93 as the DC juggernaut continued to roll menacingly, inflicting a morale-shattering defeat on RCB with 13 balls to spare. “We have not batted well. Batters are in a good frame of mind, they have shown nice intent. 60 for one, and then 90 for four, that is not acceptable,” said Patidar post match.

RCB’s Phil Salt had pummelled the DC bowlers in powerplay overs, guiding the home side to 61/1 in only the fourth over before they slumped to 91/4 after which they lost momentum to score a below-par 163/7.

“We thought it would be a nice batting track. We were lacking in assessing the conditions and the situation,” said Patidar, adding that Tim David (37) did his bit by accelerating the run-scoring.

But it came too late in the day.

“The way David accelerated at the end, it was really amazing. The powerplay, the way the (RCB) fast bowlers bowled, it was really special (reducing DC to 30/3),” he added.

Player of the Match KL Rahul said watching the ball keenly behind the stumps helped him when he came in to bat.

“It was a slightly tricky wicket but what helped me was being behind the stumps for 20 overs, watching how the wicket played. The ball sat in the wicket but it was consistent throughout, it was one-paced.

“I knew what my shots are, wanted to get off to a good start, and then assess it accordingly. It depends on the conditions and the ground and the dimensions. On a wicket like this, I knew what my pockets were. If I wanted to hit a big six, I knew what pockets to target, and ‘keeping gave me a feeler for where other batters were dismissed and where they hit the sixes,” added Rahul.

Rahul added that having played a lot of cricket in his formative years at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium helped him immensely.

“This is my ground, my home, (I) know this (ground) better than anyone else. Something I have always done with my preparation is that I always try to adapt to different wickets (even in practice). I experiment in practice, get out a couple of times but it gives me a fair idea of the areas I can target — where I can take singles, where I can hit sixes.” DC skipper Axar Patel said four wins in four matches had given the team a huge boost in morale.

“Everyone is playing with confidence, it feels nice (to have won four out of four). We talk about match-ups and what is happening off the surface. I felt they like to face pacers, so tried to hold them back.

“Then the ball was spinning and bouncing, so thought of bowling spin in the powerplay,” he said.

He lauded Rahul’s efforts saying the charismatic ‘keeper-batter had played a mature innings.

“It becomes a very easy job for me. I have been in that situation, being used as a floater in pressure situations. It is not easy (changing positions). Having a player like him is a very good thing. I played a bad shot today to get out, but he played a mature innings and finished it off. He has been carrying his Champions Trophy form.”

Pakistan Super League Takes Big Decision To Minimise Direct Airtime Clash With IPL 2025

The Pakistan Super League management, in a bid to minimise direct airtime clash with the Indian Premier League, has scheduled its matches one hour after the IPL matches commence. Salman Naseer, the PSL CEO, said in a podcast that PSL matches will begin from 8:00 pm, one hour after the IPL games commence at 7 PST. The PSL will begin in Rawalpindi on Friday. This is the first time since the two leagues were launched that they are clashing in the same window.

Naseer said they had no option but to schedule the PSL in the April-May window because of the packed calendar earlier this year.

“It is not an ideal situation but we are confident that the PSL has its own fan base and will attract the usual eyeballs,” Naseer said.

“The PSL has always produced quality competitive cricket and this year also we should see the same and cricket fans anywhere, at the end of the day, just want to see competitive, entertaining matches,” he said.

He said that since the PSL was in its 10th year, a number of new things have been added to make the broadcast quality top notch.

Naseer added that one advantage of having the PSL in the same window as the IPL was that the franchises had been able to sign some reputed overseas stars, who went unsold in the IPL auction.

He also said that the PSL had got queries from interested parties on buying two new teams that would be added to the tournament by next year.

Asked about the rocky relationship between some of the franchise owners and the PSL management, some of whom had publicly lashed out at the PCB for its handling of the league, Naseer said it was not appropriate for anyone to wash dirty linen in public.

“Look we would think that all franchises have benefited from their association with the PSL over the years. But we also feel that instead of going public it would be best if they spoke and communicated to us directly on any issues they might have.” Naseer said all franchise owners now would be given revised fees for the next 10 years and all had the right to accept the PCB offer or decide otherwise.

Pakistan’s mineral investment push outrages Balochistan

Pakistan's mineral investment push outrages Balochistan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s aggressive push for international investment in its mines and minerals sector has ignited a firestorm of dissent in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) regions.
The Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum 2025, held in Islamabad on April 8-9, was billed as a golden opportunity to unlock “trillions of dollars” of the country’s mineral wealth. The event drew over 300 delegates from nations like the US, Saudi Arabia and China. The forum has deepened the divide between the centre and provinces. Locals in accuse Islamabad of tightening its grip on their wealth for the benefit of foreign powers and the central elite.
Addressing the forum, PM Shehbaz Sharif said: “If we harness these vast reserves, Pakistan can bid farewell to global lenders.” His words, however, ring hollow in Balochistan, where Reko Dik copper-gold mine has become a lightning rod for dissent.
The province has endured decades of neglect while its resources are siphoned off to benefit the elite. KP’s gemstones have long been a source of pride, yet locals say they see little of the profits.
“The mountains bleed wealth, but our children starve,” said a tribal elder. In Gilgit-Baltistan, where gold, uranium and gems abound, protests were held over leases to Chinese firms. Leaders in PoK, known for ruby and sapphire deposits, have long demanded autonomy over resources. “Our minerals will line foreign pockets while we’re left with dust,” said Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan, a former PM.

Tobacco use leading to heart ailments, causing sudden deaths, say doctors | India News

Tobacco use leading to heart ailments, causing sudden deaths, say doctors

NEW DELHI: The death of a 28-year-old Air India Express pilot due to cardiac arrest, shortly after landing his flight in Delhi on Wednesday, and that of a 23-year-old woman while dancing at a wedding in Madhya Pradesh in Feb, has put the spotlight on rising incidents of sudden cardiac deaths among young people. Social media is flooded with videos of people collapsing and dying suddenly while dancing, singing or just taking a walk, either due to cardiac arrest or heart attack – the conditions becoming more common in the under-40 age group.
Recently at AIIMS, Dr Ambuj Roy, a senior cardiologist at the hospital, treated a 26-year-old man after he suffered a massive heart attack. He was physically fit and there was no history of any chronic illness but doctors found that he was a heavy smoker. “People associate tobacco-use, whether it is a smokeless product or smoking, with lung diseases and cancer. But if you look at the statistics, number of deaths caused by heart diseases, where tobacco use is a culprit, is almost equivalent to the number of deaths caused by the other two diseases,” Dr Roy said.

Tobacco use leading to heart ailments, causing sudden deaths, say doctors

His colleague, Dr Nitesh Naik, called for increased awareness to reduce modifiable risk factors, which can lead to serious heart conditions, including heart attack or sudden cardiac arrest. These risk factors include smoking, high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol and obesity. “It is equally important for people aged 40 and above to undergo periodic health check-ups to screen for underlying heart diseases. Timely detection and intervention can reduce the risk of serious complications,” he said.
In the pilot’s case, it is not yet clear what triggered cardiac arrest or sudden loss of heart activity due to an irregular heart rhythm. But the incident has triggered concerns regarding long work hours and stress among pilots. Several mechanisms have been postulated for linking stress with cardiovascular diseases, say doctors. This includes behavioural factors such as smoking, excess alcohol intake, lack of exercise, poor adherence to medications and increased heart rate and raised blood pressure. These factors, doctors add, may either individually or in combination lead to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease in patients with a higher degree of stress.

Nirbhaya prosecutor, who played key role in extradition of 26/11 co-conspirator David Coleman Headley to lead NIA case | India News

Nirbhaya prosecutor, who played key role in extradition of 26/11 co-conspirator David Coleman Headley to lead NIA case

NEW DELHI: Senior lawyer Dayan Krishnan, who was leading the proceedings for the extradition of 26/11 co-conspirator David Coleman Headley, will be spearheading the NIA‘s prosecution team which will make a watertight case against Tahawwur Rana. Krishnan will be assisted by a team including special prosecutor Narender Mann, an experienced criminal lawyer, who earlier represented CBI in Delhi HC, sources said.
Krishnan, sources said, was instrumental in Rana’s extradition proceedings as well and his team presented irrefutable evidence to the US judiciary, culminating in the dismissal of all of Rana’s pleas and appeals. Krishnan was closely working with NIA when the extradition process began in 2019-20. He and his team also accompanied NIA to the US to present India’s case, sources said, adding that he was assisting the team in an unofficial capacity due to US laws.
“He was instrumental in segregating the offences to establish that India’s case was different from what the US had prosecuted Rana for,” said an NIA officer.
In 2012, Krishnan was appointed as the special public prosecutor by Delhi Police for the trial in Nirbhaya gang rape-murder case. He had volunteered to lead the team free of cost, an investigator recalled on Thursday.
“In the aftermath of the crime, I felt I owed a duty to society. I would surely not make money when I discharge my duty to society,” he had told TOI after the accused were sentenced to death.
“He (Krishnan) is an alumnus of the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) Bengaluru with a career spanning nearly three decades. He has worked on several high-profile cases, including the 2001 Parliament attack, Kaveri River water dispute, telecommunication cases, Goa child abuse scandal, Nitish Katara murder case, and Uphaar case,” said a source.
Maan is also a seasoned legal expert with a career spanning over three decades. He is an alumnus of Delhi University’s Campus Law Centre and Kirori Mal College. Mann will serve for three years or until the completion of the trial, whichever is earlier.

Digital Data Actsec undermines RTI: INDIA bloc | India News

Digital Data Actsec undermines RTI: INDIA bloc

NEW DELHI: Opposition INDIA bloc on Thursday demanded that the govt repeal Section 44(3) of the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023, claiming that it “undermines” the public’s ability to access critical information under the RTI Act.
The alliance will submit a petition signed by 120 politicians, including Rahul Gandhi, to electronics and information technology minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
Responding to concerns raised by Congress’s Jairam Ramesh, Vaishnaw clarified that “any personal information subject to disclosure will continue to be disclosed under the RTI Act”.
Replying to a letter from Congress’ Jairam Ramesh dated March 23, electronics and information technology minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said it won’t restrict disclosure of personal information, “rather it aims at strengthening the privacy rights of individuals and prevent the potential misuse of the law”.
Vaishnaw said the DPDP Act is in “harmony with privacy principles as enshrined in the Puttaswamy judgment of Supreme Court and the principles of transparency in public life as enacted in the RTI Act”.
Though the DPDP bill received presidential assent on Aug 11, 2023, it is yet to be notified by govt as consultations are underway on the provisions of the law.
In a joint press conference in New Delhi, INDIA bloc members said they would wait to see if govt repeal’s the section and addresses their concerns before deciding on future course of action, like seeking legal recourse.
Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi said that “very surreptitiously, maliciously and mischievously, the right of citizens to information has been snatched” by the DPDP Act.
Shiv Sena (UBT)’s Priyanka Chaturvedi, CPM’s John Brittas, DMK’s MM Abdullah, SP’s Javed Ali and RJD’s Naval Kishor also addressed the presser. Key alliance members such as NCP (SP) and TMC have endorsed the petition.
Gogoi said RTI Act’s Section 8(1) states that if somebody seeks personal information, which has no public interest in it, that information can be withheld. But, in case the information is relevant in public interest, it cannot be withheld even if it means giving some personal information about someone, he said quoting the section.
He claimed that Section 44(3), which undermines Section 8(1) of the RTI Act, says notwithstanding anything contained in this Act, there shall be no obligation to give any citizen information that relates to personal information.
