IPL 2025: Bengaluru cheers as KL Rahul’s chest-thumping knock powers DC past RCB | Cricket News

IPL 2025: Bengaluru cheers as KL Rahul's chest-thumping knock powers DC past RCB

NEW DELHI: The crowd at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium kept roaring and cheering, even as Royal Challengers Bengaluru faced defeat against Delhi Capitals. The reason? Their hometown hero KL Rahul was putting on a show at his home ground. Rahul lit up the evening with his elegant strokeplay, thrilling the fans with towering hits across the park. When he sealed the win by launching Yash Dayal over the long leg boundary and celebrated with a chest thump, the stadium erupted — a heartfelt ovation for their very own local lad.
KL Rahul produced a batting masterclass on Thursday to lead Delhi Capitals to a convincing six-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Chasing a tricky 164 on a two-paced surface, Rahul stood tall amid early chaos, anchoring the innings with a sublime unbeaten 93 off just 53 balls, laced with nine fours and five sixes.
Rahul’s calm amidst the storm came after Delhi’s top order collapsed to 30 for 3 in the fifth over. But the wicketkeeper-batter kept his composure, stitched crucial partnerships with Axar Patel (15) and later Tristan Stubbs (38* off 23), and saw the chase through with 13 balls to spare.
With this win, Delhi Capitals extended their unbeaten run to four matches, firmly holding onto second place on the points table, just behind Gujarat Titans.
Earlier, RCB posted a below-par 163 for 7 after electing to bat, a total that never truly looked threatening once the Delhi spinners got into rhythm.
Phil Salt gave the hosts a blazing start with a 17-ball 37, taking Mitchell Starc for 30 runs in one over, and helping RCB reach 61 by the end of the fourth over. But once Salt was run out in a mix-up with Kohli, the innings spiraled downward.

Astrologer Predicts: Will Hardik Pandya & Mumbai Indians work out?

Vipraj Nigam turned the game on its head with his leg-spin, first dismissing the dangerous Kohli for 22 and then removing Krunal Pandya later in the innings. His spell of 2 for 18 in four overs was instrumental in derailing the RCB charge. Kuldeep Yadav also chipped in with his guile, picking up two crucial wickets — Rajat Patidar (25) and Jitesh Sharma (3) — to ensure the middle order couldn’t capitalise on the platform.
Despite a few powerful late hits from Tim David, who remained unbeaten on 37 off 20 balls, RCB’s total lacked the punch needed to challenge Delhi’s deep batting unit.
However, Delhi didn’t have the smoothest of starts.
Faf du Plessis was out for 2, Fraser-McGurk fell for 7, and Porel followed soon after, leaving the visitors reeling. But KL Rahul played the perfect anchor, absorbing the pressure and gradually shifting gears. His six off Livingstone over midwicket and a glorious straight drive off Hazlewood were just glimpses of his dominance.
After Axar fell trying to force the pace, Stubbs joined Rahul and ensured there were no further hiccups. The duo added 111 runs for the unbroken sixth wicket stand and finished things off in style — KL rahul sealing the match with a six in the 18th over.

Google Domain Was Once Sold For Just $12 To An Indian Man. Here’s What Happened Next

In 2015, Sanmay Ved, a former Google employee from Mandvi, Gujarat, briefly owned Google.com after discovering the domain was available for purchase on Google Domains. He bought it for just $12 and gained access to Google’s webmaster tools before the company realized the error and canceled the transaction.

Google rewarded Ved with 6,006.13 (around Rs 4.07 lakh) for his discovery, later doubling the amount when he decided to donate the money to charity. Ved chose to donate the entire reward to the a charity Foundation, which runs 404 free schools across 18 states, providing education to over 39,200 children in underprivileged areas.

Google also acknowledged the participation of researchers from around the world in its security rewards program.

Ved provided a detailed account of the unexpected incident on LinkedIn, explaining how he discovered “google.com” was available on Google Domains.

“At 1:20 a.m. Eastern Time, he was exploring the platform when he entered the domain into the search bar and was surprised to find it listed as available. Contrary to usual indications, the option to add the domain to his cart was visible, which is typically not seen unless a domain is genuinely available for sale,” he wrote.

“Upon clicking the “add to cart” icon, the domain was successfully added to his cart, confirmed by a green checkmark. Ved proceeded to checkout, curious to see if the transaction would go through. He recalled, “I was hoping I would get an error at some time saying the transaction did not go through, but I was able to complete the purchase, and my credit card was actually charged!”

Virender Sehwag Openly Sledges Ambati Rayudu Over MS Dhoni In IPL: “Just Correcting The…”

Ambati Rayudu, former Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians player, has been quite vocal in his support for MS Dhoni. At 43, Dhoni is the oldest player in the IPL 2025. After his batting order spot was criticised, there seems to be a change. Dhoni came to bat at No. 5 against Punjab Kings scoring 27 off 12 balls. While he hit three sixes and a four, Dhoni could not take his team over the line as CSK lost to PBKS. After the match, Rayudu praised Dhoni while commentating. Virender Sehwag and Aakash Chopra were also present in the panel. Here’s how the conversation went.

“There was a statement about an uncapped player (MS Dhoni), who hails from Jharkhand, ‘used to’ hit helicopter shots, he batted yesterday. He came in late yesterday, but it was not his fault. He came in late in the context of the match, because by the time he comes, it is too…but he couldn’t come earlier yesterday,” Aakash Chopra said on Star Sports.

“See, there he is Thala. What an innings he played. He played with intent. He is a special player, Viru paji. The excitement is rising in the commentary box too,” Rayudu replied.

To which Sehwag said: “I am not denying that the player is special. But you said the ‘young player’ used to hit helicopter shot. I was just correcting the grammar. He still hits those shots. You should have said this.”

Meanwhile, MS Dhoni added another achievement to his name in the IPL match between Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings in Mullanpur on Tuesday.

Dhoni became the first wicket-keeper to accomplish 150 catches in the IPL. He achieved this milestone after catching Nehal Wadhera during the Punjab Kings’ innings.

In the 8th over of the PBKS innings, Wadhera mishit a shot off R Ashwin, and Dhoni made a straightforward catch. Dinesh Karthik ranks second on the list with 137 catches to his credit.

Dhoni has produced several stunning stumpings and catches throughout the IPL. His quick work behind the stumps during tight moments has been key to CSK’s success, he has 45 stumpings to his name.

Against PBKS, Dhoni walked to the crease at No. 5 with 25 balls remaining in the chase and 69 runs still required. Dhoni once again faced the challenge of rescuing a nearly impossible scenario. The 43-year-old seemed to rewind time with an explosive 27 off merely 12 balls, hitting three sixes and a four.

He got out on the first ball of the 20th over, hitting down the leg full toss straight to Chahal. CSK has lost four out of five matches in the ongoing IPL so far. They have not batted first in any of these matches.

After the Chepauk innings by Dhoni, in which he played an average knock of 30 in 26 balls against Delhi Capitals (DC), with just a four and six, not firing in death overs like he would have expected to, this innings brought more cheers to fans.

Dhoni is the sixth-highest run-getter in the tournament’s history, with 5,346 runs at an average of 39.31 and a strike rate of over 137, with 24 fifties and a best score of 84. In IPL 2025, Dhoni has made 103 runs in five innings at an average of 51.50 and a strike rate of over 153.73; his best score is 30.

‘Woman herself invited trouble’: Allahabad HC grants bail to rape accused | India News

'Woman herself invited trouble': Allahabad HC grants bail to rape accused
File photo: Allahabad high court

NEW DELHI: The Allahabad high court has granted bail to a rape accused as the complainant “herself invited trouble” by agreeing to go to his house after consuming alcohol with friends.
The order, passed by justice Sanjay Kumar Singh, noted that being an MA student, the woman was “competent enough to understand the morality and significance of her act.”
“This court is of the view that even if the allegation of the victim is accepted as true, then also it can be concluded she herself invited trouble and was also responsible for the same. Similar stand has been taken by the victim in her statement. In her medical examination, the doctor did not give any opinion about the sexual assault,” the order read, according to news agency PTI.
“Considering the facts and circumstances of the case as well as keeping in view the nature of the offence, evidence, complicity of the accused and submissions of the learned counsel for the parties, I am of the view that the applicant has made out a fit case for bail,” it stated.
Earlier, the accused submitted it was an “admitted case” by the woman that she was an adult and resided in a PG hostel. She, of her own volition, went with her friends to a restaurant, where they consumed alcohol. Due to this, she became “very intoxicated.”
The counsel for the accused further argued the woman and her friends stayed in the bar till 3 am. As she needed support, she decided to go to the man’s house for rest.
Her allegation that the accused instead took her to his relative’s flat and raped her twice is false and against the evidence on record, the counsel told the court.
It was also argued that considering the facts of the case as disclosed by the woman, it is not a case of rape but might be a case of consensual relationship between them.
This comes days after the Supreme Court, on March 26, stayed another controversial Allahabad high court order which stated that grabbing a woman’s breasts and pulling the drawstrings of her pyjama “did not amount to attempted rape,” saying this reflected “total insensitivity” and “inhuman approach.”
The observations were made by justice Ram Manohar Narayan Mishra in a March 17 verdict.

Virat Kohli’s Rs 110 Crore Eight-Year Contract With Puma Ends, Star Set To Join…

Virat Kohli‘s long-time association with sports apparel giant Puma has ended, according to several reports. “Sports brand PUMA India confirms the end of its longtime partnership with cricketer and brand ambassador Virat Kohli. PUMA wishes Virat the best for his future endeavours and said it was a wonderful association with him spanning over several years, many outstanding campaigns, and path-breaking product collaborations. As a sports brand, PUMA will continue to actively invest in the next generation of athletes and aggressively build the future of the sporting ecosystem in India,” a Puma spokesperson reportedly said.

According to a report in livemint.com, Kohli is going to join sports athleisure firm Agilitas. According to the report, “Agilitas was founded in 2023 by former Puma India and South-East Asia managing director Abhishek Ganguly. The company makes and retails sportswear goods in India and abroad. Last year, Agilitas acquired long-term licence rights for Italian sports brand Lotto in India, Australia, and South Africa.”

The report further claimed: “Virat Kohli is reportedly in talks to invest in Agilitas after concluding his eight-year contract with Puma. The announcement is expected soon, coinciding with the IPL, as Kohli aims to create a global sportswear identity.”

Virat Kohli has emphasised how the IPL’s format and dynamic structure have influenced his T20 game.

While speaking on Jio Hotstar, Kohli highlighted the unique mental and competitive challenges of the IPL and emphasised its dynamic nature compared to shorter bilateral series.

He described how the constantly changing points table created different kinds of pressure, whether it was maintaining a lead, bouncing back from a slump, or battling for a playoff spot. This dynamic environment pushed players to adapt and evolve their T20 skills, ultimately driving them to improve constantly.

“IPL challenges you in a very unique way because of how the tournament is structured. It’s not like a short bilateral series; it spans several weeks, and your position on the points table keeps shifting. That constantly changing scenario brings different kinds of pressure. When you are at the top, there’s the pressure to maintain that lead. If you’re near the bottom, you need extra motivation to bounce back. And if you’re somewhere in the middle, where you need to win, say, three out of five games, even a single loss can suddenly add a lot of pressure. This dynamic nature of the tournament pushes you mentally and competitively in various ways other formats don’t. It’s also driven me to improve and evolve my T20 skill set constantly,” Virat Kohli said while speaking on ’18 Calling 18′ on JioHotstar.

Did he fold or is he bold? Was it Art of the Deal or did he make a meal?

Did he fold or is he bold? Was it Art of the Deal or did he make a meal?

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump‘s 90-day hold on punitive tariffs on the world minus China has elicited a reciprocal pause from the European Union, momentarily isolating Beijing but giving the rest of the world respite to negotiate with Washington.
The jury is still out on whether Trump caved to intense pressure the US economy came under because of his tariff gambit or if it was planned brinkmanship. But the danger to global trade has not abated yet. The baseline 10 per cent tariff he imposed on the world is still in place, as also new levies on steel, aluminum and automobiles.
Still, the EU said it took note of Trump’s decision to pause reciprocal tariff and is doing likewise “to give negotiations a chance,” and even China indicated it is ready to talk — provided the dialogue was conducted on an “equal footing” and on the “basis of mutual respect.”
Beijing, Chinese officials said, would not respond to “pressure, threats and blackmail” and it is prepared to “fight to the end.”EU President Ursula von der Leyen too warned that “If negotiations are not satisfactory, our countermeasures will kick in.”
In the US meanwhile, Trump is being compared to an arsonist who sets fire to his own home and then pulls out a fire extinguisher to put it out even as neighbors and friends rush to help because it also endangers their homes. While MAGA mouthpieces projected Trump’s brinkmanship as the work of a genius who took a leaf out of his “Art of the Deal,” the liberal intelligentsia called it “Art of the Squeal” — a gambit gone horribly wrong.
Trump aides though spun the President’s tariff pause as a win, the outcome of “master strategy, bold statesmanship and brilliant tactical planning” which, according to his Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, “has done more to reform broken international trade in days than anyone has achieved in decades while economically and politically isolating the global architect of economic aggression: China.”
The MAGA supremo though appeared to confirm that he backed down because Americans — and the stock market — got jittery with his strategy. “People were jumping out of line a little and getting a little yippy, a little bit afraid,” he told reporters who asked why he decided to hit pause on his tariff imposition just hours into its enforcement.
The US President also revealed he was concerned about people “getting a little queasy” about the bond market, which also sank on Tuesday as the rest of the world began losing faith in the US economy and its stability after Trump tariff caper. Stock and bonds seldom go down together and typically move in opposite directions. “I was watching the bond market. It’s very tricky. If you look at it now it’s beautiful. But I saw last night where people were getting a little queasy,” he said.
Market mavens and economic pundits later surmised that it was Japan’s — not China’s — sale of U.S Treasury bonds spooked the markets and forced Trump’s hand to announce a 90-day suspension of tariffs (except for China). Japan holds more than $ 1 trillion in US bonds and China holds $ 760 billion.
The question now boils down to who among the US and China have greater resilience in this game of chicken, and who needs who more. The 125 percent US tariff on Beijing means China’s export-driven economy will take a beating.
Just how much depends on whether China can find other markets to dump its goods and/or talk US back from the brink. At the same time, US consumers, brought up on cheap imports for a generation, will suddenly be paying more for everything from Apple products to Ziplock bags.
By midday Thursday, it became apparent that there is still plenty of sand in the global trade machinery and the danger to the US and world economy has not passed. The US stock market gave up almost half of its record run-up yesterday — a surge that came even as Trump announced the 90-pause, and which is now attracting attention amid rumors of a “pump and dump” scheme by insiders.
After exhorting “THIS IS A GREAT TIME TO BUY!!!” on social media just hours before he pulled back on tariffs, Trump on Thursday posted “What a day, but more great days coming!!!” even as the market was tanking again.
The biggest outcome of the ongoing trade war, for now, appears to be the profound distrust of the US the MAGA supremo has generated around the world, something that will probably take a generation or more to repair and heal.
“Don’t think for a second that all that’s been lost is money. A whole pile of invaluable trust just went up in smoke as well,” NYT columnist Thomas Friedman noted gloomily, calling Trump tariff gambit the “trade equivalent of the Biden administration’s botched exit from Afghanistan.”

P Chidambaram On Tahawwur Rana Extradition

New Delhi:

The extradition of 26/11 plotter Tahawwur Rana from the US has sparked a political row, with the Congress claiming that the process started during the UPA rule in 2009 and so the NDA government should not claim all the credit.

“Let the facts be clear: the Modi government did not initiate this process, nor did it secure any new breakthrough. It merely benefited from the mature, consistent, and strategic diplomacy begun under the UPA,” former Union minister P Chidambaram said in a statement earlier today.

“This extradition is not the result of any grandstanding, it is a testament to what the Indian state can achieve when diplomacy, law enforcement, and international cooperation are pursued sincerely and without any kind of chest-thumping,” the statement had added, outlining the steps the government had taken since 2009 to bring Rana and the prime accused, David Coleman Headley, to book. Asked about the matter this evening, Mr Chidambaram stood by his statement. “They (the NDA government) can take credit for what they have done now. But they should also give credit to the previous government which has done a lot. The government of India is a continuity,” he told NDTV in an exclusive interview.

The counter-terror apparatus back then was very weak, Mr Chidambaram told NDTV, explaining what has changed between then and now.

“We did not have an NIA, we did not have an NIA Act, there were weaknesses in the UAPA, and there were weaknesses in the intelligence set-up. So in the three years I was the Home Minister, I did my best to plug the apparatus and strengthen the weaknesses,” he said. “I do not deny that the present government has built on that and further strengthened the apparatus,” he added.

Pointing out that the “terrorist is always half-a-step ahead of the administration,” he said it depends on the administration must review the apparatus periodically.

Rana, 64, was extradited from the US yesterday. He landed in Dehi this evening and India’s most wanted for his role in the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai, has landed in Delhi. He was extradited from the US on a special flight on Wednesday and will now face the law.

In its statement today, the National Investigation agency mentioned that the extradition of Rana took place after “years of sustained and concerted efforts to bring the key conspirator behind the 2008 mayhem to justice”.

Tahawwur Rana was extradited from the US on a special flight on Wednesday, landed in Delhi this evening. He has been formally arrested by the NIA and produced in court.

Mr Chidambaram — a senior lawyer — said with a “dedicated public prosecutor and a conscientious judge” the trial should not take more than six months, since India already has all the evidence  against him.

Hungarian Tourist, Missing For 3 Weeks In Meghalaya, Found Dead

The body of a Hungarian tourist, who had been missing since March 29, was found in a decomposed state in Meghalaya’s Cherrapunji, police sources told NDTV. The Meghalaya police had launched a search-and-rescue operation to find Zsolt Puskas.

After going missing for almost four days, the Hungarian Embassy alerted the local police on April 2, after which the cops launched a search operation along with Home Guards, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and local volunteers.

His body, discovered in a partially decomposed state, was found in a remote, steep-sloped area, in the Ramdait village, along the route to Tyrna in Shella, in Meghalaya’s Cherrapunji, suggesting a possible accidental fall.

Police sources informed that a probe revealed that Zsolt had checked into a hotel in Laitumkhrah at 3:45 AM on March 29 and checked out just hours later at 9:00 AM. He then boarded a local taxi, which dropped him at Mawsahew, near Sohra, by noon.

‘Disgraced’: PM Modi’s 2011 tweet on Tahawwur Rana goes viral | India News

'Disgraced': PM Modi's 2011 tweet on Tahawwur Rana goes viral

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s post from 2011 suddenly went viral on X after India extradited Mumbai attacks terror accused Tahawwur Rana on Thursday.
Netizens shared PM Modi’s old post on X, in which he had criticised the UPA government’s foreign policy after the US cleared Tahawwur Rana of charges related to cooperating in the deadly 26/11 rampage in Mumbai.
“US declaring Tahawwur Rana innocent in the Mumbai attack has disgraced the sovereignty of India & it is a ‘major foreign policy setback,'” PM Modi had said.
Netizens lauded PM Modi’s commitment, with one user commenting on the post, “Another promise has been fulfilled today.”
“Modi was worried about India and its interests passionately way back in 2011,” another user wrote.
This comes as a multi-agency team, led by officials from India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA), arrived in Delhi on Thursday evening with Rana, just days after the US Supreme Court rejected the Pakistani-Canadian national’s appeal against his extradition.
During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s United States visit in February, US President Donald Trump announced his administration would extradite Rana to India.
The 64-year-old had served in Pakistan’s Army medical corps before emigrating to Canada in the late 1990s, where he started an immigration consultancy firm. He later moved to America and set up an office in Chicago.
As many as 166 people were killed and 238 injured in the deadly attacks carried out by a group of 10 Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists, who were Pakistanis, on a railway station, two luxury hotels, and a Jewish center after they sneaked into India’s financial capital through the Arabian Sea. The attacks, which began on the evening of November 26, 2008, ended on the morning of November 29.
Ajmal Amir Kasab, the lone terrorist to be captured alive, was tried and found guilty. He was hanged in November 2012.
