US Influencer Leaves “Miserable” Marriage After Rs 9 Lakh Nose Job Boosts Her Confidence

Devyn Aiken, a 30-year-old from Philadelphia, had a rhinoplasty costing Rs 9.1 lakh ($11,000) in November to tackle her “biggest insecurity.” This surgery increased her confidence and marked a pivotal moment, enabling her to end a seven-year unhappy marriage, the New York Post reported.

“I feel incredibly sexy,” Ms Aiken told The Post. “My new nose gave me the push I needed to finally choose myself and walk away from a marriage that made me miserable.”

The decision to undergo rhinoplasty was life-changing. Just weeks after the surgery, she filed for divorce in December. A video documenting her transformation has since amassed over 4.5 million views on TikTok, with users praising her striking new look.

“I wake up feeling so much happier,” she said, describing the “glow-up” that came with both the surgery and her newfound independence. “I get to spend the rest of my life feeling this way.”

Ms Aiken’s journey reflects broader trends. Research shows that 82% of divorced individuals experience a renewed sense of confidence and inner peace after ending their marriages. Many, like Aiken, also embrace makeovers as a symbol of their fresh start.

Growing up, Ms Aiken endured relentless bullying over her prominent nose, with classmates cruelly calling her “witch,” “toucan,” and “Pinocchio.” Struggling with self-esteem, she settled into a marriage at 23 without truly understanding her partner.

“We got married too soon and didn’t really know each other,” she admitted. Though her ex-husband loved her natural features, their relationship was filled with arguments, and they often felt out of sync.

Her turning point came when she decided to have surgery with Philadelphia-based plastic surgeon Dr. Mark Ginsburg. The nearly six-hour procedure marked the beginning of a new chapter.

“It changed everything,” Ms Aiken said. “During my recovery, I had time to reflect, and I realized- I need to go through with this divorce so I can move forward.”

Now, she’s embracing life with confidence. “I’m dating, exclusively dating, and having so much fun,” she shared.

Ms Aiken has also found a supportive online community, with many comparing her new look to celebrities like Bella Hadid and Celine Dion. She hopes her transformation-inside and out-inspires others to take control of their happiness.

India’s generic medicines steal the spotlight as US exempts pharma from tariffs

India's generic medicines steal the spotlight as US exempts pharma from tariffs

India’s pharma sector has emerged as a big winner amid Trump’s tariff woes, as the US has exempted pharmaceuticals from reciprocal tariffs, recognizing the vital role of India’s generic medicines in global healthcare. This decision comes amid US President Donald Trump’s announcement of 27 percent tariffs on imports from about 60 countries, including India, in retaliation to high import duties on American goods. Industry leaders are calling this exemption a significant win for India, reinforcing its status as a global pharmaceutical powerhouse.
The US administration’s decision to exempt pharmaceuticals from reciprocal tariffs emphasizes the essential role of generic medicines in global healthcare, Sudarshan Jain, Secretary General of the Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance (IPA) told news agency PTI.
Jain highlighted that the exemption underscores the importance of affordable, life-saving generic medicines for public health, economic stability, and national security. “India and the US share a strong, growing bilateral trade relationship, and pharmaceuticals remain a cornerstone of this partnership,” he said. Jain also emphasized India’s pivotal role in global and US healthcare by ensuring a steady supply of cost-effective medicines.
India’s pharmaceutical industry, he added, remains committed to furthering the shared priorities of both nations—strengthening the resilience of the medicine supply chain and reinforcing national security by ensuring access to affordable medications for all.
IPA, a network of top 23 Indian pharmaceutical companies including Sun Pharma, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Lupin, Torrent, and Glenmark, represents the sector’s growing influence.
Bhavin Mukund Mehta, Vice-Chairman of Pharmexcil and Whole-Time Director of Kilitch Drugs, noted that the pharmaceutical sector is emerging as a clear beneficiary of this decision.
“India exports USD 8.7 billion worth of pharmaceuticals to the US while importing just USD 800 million. This strong trade relationship creates a win-win scenario, driving significant cost savings on life-saving medicines,” Mehta stated.
He also highlighted that Indian exporters stand to gain a competitive advantage over their Asian counterparts, strengthening India’s global leadership in pharmaceuticals.
Sheetal Arora, Promoter and CEO of Mankind Pharma, described the exemption as a strategic recognition of the critical healthcare dependencies between the US and India. Arora pointed out that the US healthcare system heavily depends on India’s robust generic manufacturing and China’s active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) production. Any disruption in these supply chains would have immediate, severe consequences for patient care, he added.
Arora also emphasized that the exemption provides India with an opportunity to reshape its pharmaceutical sector. By focusing on next-generation generics, accelerating biosimilar development, and boosting domestic API production, India could reduce geopolitical vulnerabilities and further strengthen its position as the global pharmacy. He mentioned that initiatives like the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, along with targeted R&D incentives and regulatory harmonization, offer a framework to drive this transformation.
The pharmaceutical sector is India’s largest industrial export, valued at USD 12.72 billion in 2024. Indian pharmaceutical companies supply a significant portion of drugs to the US, with four out of ten prescriptions filled in the US in 2022 coming from Indian companies. In fact, medicines from Indian companies saved the US healthcare system USD 219 billion in 2022 and a total of USD 1.3 trillion from 2013 to 2022. Over the next five years, generics from Indian companies are expected to generate an additional USD 1.3 trillion in savings.
Experts had previously warned that higher tariffs on pharmaceutical imports to the US could increase production costs for Indian drug manufacturers, making their products less competitive. Smaller drug firms, operating on thin margins, could face financial pressure, potentially leading to consolidation or closure.

Watch: Australia PM Anthony Albanese stumbles off stage while posing for photos

Watch: Australia PM Anthony Albanese stumbles off stage while posing for photos
Australian PM Anthony Albanese falls off stage

During a campaign event in Lovedale, New South Wales, Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese stumbled and fell off a stage whilst posing for photographs after a speech at the Mining and Energy Union conference.
After the tumble in the Hunter region, event staff assisted Albanese to stand, and he signalled to onlookers that he was unharmed. He was quickly on his feet as he smiled while looking at the crowd.
This occurred shortly after climate activists disrupted his visit to a nearby hospital. Two protesters from Rising Tide were removed from Maitland Hospital on Thursday after interrupting the Prime Minister’s visit, as reported by Sky News.
Rising Tide claimed responsibility via social media, continuing their pattern of disrupting six recent political gatherings, affecting both major parties’ leadership events.
Earlier this week, Albanese experienced a verbal slip when questioned about potential Greens cooperation. His response created confusion: “In spite of the 385 times that I have said… if you ask me ‘Do you rule out governing in coalition with the Greens?’, the answer to that is no.”
Despite these setbacks, recent polling shows increased support for the Albanese government. Three significant polls – Newspoll, Resolve Political Monitor, and YouGov – indicate Labor’s primary vote has risen, though neither major party secured an absolute majority.
Current figures show Albanese leading Peter Dutton as preferred prime minister, 49 to 38 per cent.
The federal election is scheduled for May 3.

Mamata Banerjee After Court Setback

Kolkata:

Hours after her government faced a big setback in the teachers’ recruitment case, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said she does not accept the Supreme Court judgment personally, but her government will implement it and repeat the selection process. She also questioned if Opposition BJP and CPM wanted Bengal’s education system to collapse.

“As a citizen of this country, I have every right, and I cannot accept this judgment, with due respect to the judges. I am expressing my opinion from a humanitarian perspective. Don’t misinform or create confusion,” she told the media this afternoon. The government, she said, accepts the ruling and has already asked the School Service Commission to repeat the recruitment process.

The Supreme Court today upheld the Calcutta High Court order, cancelling the appointment of more than 25,000 teachers and non-teaching staff under the West Bengal School Service Commission. The Supreme Court said the entire selection process is “vitiated by manipulation and fraud” and its credibility and legitimacy “denuded”.

The bench of Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna and Justice PV Sanjay Kumar said that it saw no reason to interfere with the High Court order. The court said the appointments resulted from cheating and are thus fraudulent.

One key aspect of the judgment is that those appointed through fair means have also suffered like the tainted candidates.

Raking this up, Ms Banerjee asked why so many people must be punished for a few. “It’s not just 25,000 candidates, their families are impacted too,” she said.

Referring to the huge case recovery from the residence of Delhi High Court judge Yashwant Varma, she said, “If you recover money from a sitting judge’s home, he is only transferred. Then why were these candidates not transferred? The first judge to give this order is now a BJP MP. BJP and CPM have conspired to lead to this verdict,” she said.

Alleging a conspiracy to target Bengal, she asked if it was a crime to be born in the state. She questioned who would teach in classrooms if so many teachers lost their jobs. She said over 11,000 of the affected teachers taught in Class 9 and 10 and over 5,500 in Class 11 and 12. “Class 9-12 are very important classes, the gateway to higher education. Many of them are correcting answer sheets of board exams. Do BJP and CPM want the education system to collapse?” she said.

Rishabh Pant: ‘It’s not Rs 27 crore price tag that’s affecting Rishabh Pant’ | Cricket News

'It's not Rs 27 crore price tag that's affecting Rishabh Pant'
Rishabh Pant (BCCI Photo)

NEW DELHI: India’s dynamic wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is enduring a tough phase in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, following a stellar comeback last season. After recovering from a life-threatening car crash, Pant made a remarkable return in IPL 2024, scoring over 400 runs and then playing a key role in India’s T20 World Cup triumph. However, his form has since dipped, leading to his exclusion from India’s white-ball squads.
Following his IPL 2024 success, Pant opted to leave Delhi Capitals ahead of the mega auction and was acquired by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for a record Rs 27 crore. With high expectations and the added responsibility of captaincy, Pant’s struggles have become more evident. His last appearances for India in T20Is and ODIs were in July and August 2024, respectively, and he was left out of India’s playing XI during the Champions Trophy, where KL Rahul was preferred as the wicketkeeper.

Now leading LSG in IPL 2025, Pant has failed to deliver with the bat, registering scores of 0, 15, and 2 in three matches. His inconsistent performances have put added pressure on his team, which has struggled to find rhythm this season.
Speaking on JioHotstar, former India cricketer Piyush Chawla dismissed the notion that the hefty price tag was affecting Pant’s game. “Knowing Rishabh Pant, I don’t think it’s the price tag that’s affecting him. However, he is currently not in the best of form. He has been out of the Indian white-ball circuit, and coming into this tournament as the captain of a franchise, there were high expectations of him. A lot happened last year, and naturally, a lot was expected from him this season,” Chawla said.

IPL 2025 | Kagiso Rabada: ‘Even a No. 10 can hit a six… there’s no mystery anymore’

Pant’s extended dry run is proving costly for LSG, and his inability to contribute significantly with the bat or behind the stumps has been a concern. However, given his talent and ability to turn games around, one strong innings could be the turning point he desperately needs.

18 hours & counting: 265 passengers of Virgin Atlantic London-Mumbai flight stuck in Turkey | India News

18 hours & counting: 265 passengers of Virgin Atlantic London-Mumbai flight stuck in Turkey

NEW DELHI: Over 260 passengers of Wednesday’s Virgin Atlantic London-Mumbai flight are stranded at Turkey’s Diyarbakır Airport for the last 18 hours and counting. The flight had to be diverted due to a medical emergency and then reportedly had a technical issue.
“When we landed, first we remained onboard the aircraft for five hours. Then we were asked to alight as the airline needed to fix a technical issue on the plane. We have now been at the airport for 13 hours with Virgin Atlantic neither making any arrangements for us nor giving us any information on when we will leave for Mumbai,” and then some passengers told TOI on the phone from there that the aircraft developed a snag,” Sagar Kochhar, one of the stranded passengers, told TOI on the phone from Turkey.

-

Other flyers said Virgin Atlantic has asked passengers to make alternate arrangements if they can. “This is not Istanbul. How we make any arrangements, the airline is supposed to do so. We are sleeping on the floor, on chairs and the food being given is simply inedible,” said another passenger.

-

A Virgin Atlantic spokesperson said: “VS358 flight from London Heathrow to Mumbai on April 2 was cancelled due to an urgent medical diversion to Diyarbakır Airport in Turkey and subsequent technical inspections required. The safety and security of our customers and crew is always our top priority and we apologise for the inconvenience caused. We are urgently looking at all available options to ensure our customers can continue their journeys to Mumbai as quickly as possible, while our engineers carry out the necessary technical inspections of the aircraft. As soon as we have updated information, we will communicate to all customers involved.”

She Ordered Pizza, Drinks, Then Died By Suicide. Family Blames Cousin

New Delhi:

It was a regular Sunday for the Kushwaha family. Their youngest daughter, Preeti, was alone at home while her siblings – elder brother and sister – and parents were out. In the evening, Preeti’s mother received a call from her daughter, informing her that she had cooked some chapatis for her and that she must eat them once back home. Little did the mother know that she would return to Preeti’s body hanging from the fan. The Delhi-based Kushwaha family alleges that Preeti died by suicide over her lover, also a distant cousin.

Cousins To Lovers

Preeti Kushwaha, 18, used to work at a Delhi-based private firm. Two years ago, the Kushwaha family visited their hometown to attend a family function. There, Preeti met a boy, a distant cousin. Gradually, the closeness between the two grew. So much so that the two secretly married.

The secret affair came to light after Preeti’s death when one of her friends shared screenshots of chats between Preeti and the alleged lover and several pictures with the family.

In her chats, Preeti addresses the man as “husband ji” (Mr husband). In a chat dated April 2023, Preeti also names the person “Rinku Ji”.

One of the many pictures shows the alleged lover putting vermilion on Preeti’s head, indicating marriage.

Baldness – The Bond Of Love

Recently, Preeti shaved her head, giving up on long, beautiful hair, allegedly for her lover. When Preeti expressed her desire to go bald because of “damaged” hair, she had an argument with her sister, Himani.

Preeti, adamant about getting rid of her hair, threatened to go to the salon. Afraid of the embarrassment, Preeti’s brother gave in to the request and shaved her sister’s head at home.

Again, after death, it was revealed that the “lover” often complimented Preeti and questioned, “You are more beautiful. What will I do if someone else likes you?”

Preeti allegedly shaved her hair for this very reason.

Lovers To Strangers Once Again?

The man had allegedly cut off ties with Preeti and blocked her number, because of which she slipped into depression. Preeti’s social media posts also suggest that she was going through a tough time mentally. In a video posted on Instagram, dated March 13, Preeti wrote, “What if he doesn’t text me? He must remember me.”

In another video dated March 19, Preeti wrote the caption: “Fark to pehle padta tha. Ab to hum unhe dekhte tak nahi hai (It would make a difference earlier. Now, we don’t even look at them.)”

Preeti reportedly ordered pizza and a cold drink for herself before taking her life.

After calling her mother, Preeti also dialed the said lover but didn’t receive any response, as per the phone records.

It has been over 10 days since Preeti died by suicide, but no action has been taken against the man, alleges the family. The Kushwaha family is waiting for justice.

Ex MP After Court Setback For Mamata Banerjee

New Delhi:

As the Mamata Banerjee government suffered a setback in the Supreme Court in the teachers’ recruitment case, former Trinamool Congress MP Jawhar Sircar said he left the party because “corruption and authoritarianism were getting too bad”.

“People ask me why I resigned as MP of TMC. Would my conscience allow me to be a part of such rot? I went with TMC as it is the toughest fighter against communal, fascist BJP. I left because TMC’s corruption and authoritarianism were getting too bad,” Mr Sircar posted on X.

A retired IAS officer, Mr Sircar has served as the Chief Executive Officer of Prasar Bharati. Mr Sircar joined the Trinamool Congress in 2021 and was named a Rajya Sabha MP. In 2024, however, he resigned from the Upper House and the party in the aftermath of a doctor’s rape-murder in Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

In an open letter to Ms Banerjee, Mr Sircar had spoken out against the alleged corruption within the ruling party. He had said that when he pointed to evidence of corruption against former Education Minister Partha Chatterjee, he was heckled by a section of Trinamool leaders.

In a big setback to the Mamata Banerjee government, the Supreme Court today upheld the Calcutta High Court order, cancelling the appointment of more than 25,000 teachers and non-teaching staff under the West Bengal School Service Commission. The Supreme Court said the entire selection process is “vitiated by manipulation and fraud” and its credibility and legitimacy “denuded”.

CCTV Captures Moment Air Force’s Jaguar Jet Crashed In Gujarat

New Delhi:

A flash of light lit up the sky as the Indian Air Force’s Jaguar fighter jet crashed near Gujarat’s Jamnagar on Wednesday night. A CCTV camera footage from a house in the Suvarda village where the jet crashed captured moments before the incident.

The fighter jet crashed at around 9.30 pm in an open field after experiencing a technical malfunction, with one of the pilots on the training mission ejecting safely. The pilot who ejected suffered injures, while the second pilot died as he failed to exit the jet in time.

As soon as the jet crashed in an open field, it erupted into flames, which was later doused by firefighters.

The injured pilot, currently admitted at the Guru Gobind Singh Government Hospital, is in a stable condition and out of danger.

There was no civilian casualty on the ground and the cause of the crash was not immediately known.

A Court of Inquiry has been ordered by the IAF to investigate the cause of the accident and determine the circumstances leading to the technical failure.
